Electric Wires Underground Increase The Value Of Your Property

Well, good afternoon, everyone. My name’s Chris Berger, and it’s time for Berger Point.

You know, many years ago, I’ll say over 40, when we built our house, my father-in-law proposed to me, well, it will be a little bit more expensive, but why don’t we put the electrical wires underground?

And I’m thinking, hmm, imagine that, the electrical wires underground. Kind of a concept.

What does that actually prevent?



Well, if you have a bad storm, certainly the wires that are attached to the house will not be affected.

So, essentially what it’s also doing is adding a great deal of value to your house.

Because again, when you go and look at a house or if you’re selling a house, you want to accent that because if there is underground wires, it really is an asset to your home and it does increase the value due to safety and looks.

So, I wanted to show you what overhead wires look like, which I’m sure everyone knows. But also too, I’ll show you what underground wires look like and what to look for.

Below is a picture of an underground electrical unit.







So of course, in the traditional sense, the wires run from the telephone pole, which is across the road. And they come across the road. Underneath this giant tree, so if that should ever come down, that will be a lot of problems for this mess that leads into the house.

That’s overhead wires.

But the potential is there for something to happen where you’re wiped out for at least 24 hours if that branch comes down.

I just wanted to show you, as we pulled into this home, the underground service, the electric, the meter, it’s in that square box.

And of course, when you see that on the edge of the property, that indicates by all means underground.

So of course, when we look around and we try to find any kind of wires, there is no wires.

So underground service and generally in the new cul-de-sacs today, you’ll see underground service. And if you can see in the background there, there’s a couple more.

That’s my point!
