00:18Many years ago, in the time of the ancients, there lived a half-man half-serpent, whose name was
00:25Cecrops. Cecrops was the king of a beautiful city, on an island, close to the Mediterranean Sea. He needed a
00:33patron deity for his kingdom, a deity who would protect and support his people. So he called upon the gods
00:40of Olympus, to know which of them were desirous of the city.
00:44As it happened, two of the Olympian gods desired the patronage, Poseidon, the Earthshaker and Lord of the Seas, and
00:53Athena, the goddess of war and wisdom.
00:56They both appeared to Cecrops, who asked them to offer gifts of value to the city. Whoever gave the most
01:02valuable gift would become the city's patron.
01:05The Earthshaker and the war goddess, descended from Olympus, upon the top of Acropolis, where Cecrops gathered an entire population,
01:13to watch the contest. There, the two gods would offer their gifts.
01:18Poseidon came forth, raising his magnificent trident. He struck the hard ground, and the salty waters of his seas, came
01:26rushing through the earth, forming a spring, in the arid land.
01:31It was a wonderful sight to behold, but what could they do with salty waters? The people wondered.
01:37Then, Athena stepped forward, clied in a regal robe, elegant, and graceful. In her wisdom, she struck her sphere into
01:46the ground, and out of the ground, sprouted an olive tree, a sign of peace and prosperity.
01:53The leaves of the olive, would provide shade for the people. Its fruits, would provide oil, and food.
02:00The people were impressed with Athena's gift, and cheered on, as Cecrops pronounced her the winner. The city would be
02:08named after her. It would be called Athens, thenceforth.
02:12Now, Poseidon was not pleased with his defeat, so he sent forth the waves of his seas, flooding the plains.
02:20Then he cursed Athens, to be short of water, all her days.
02:24This continues, till modern day Greece.
02:36An ancient goddess, wants nothing less than world domination. And mankind is powerless to stop her.
02:44But, in our darkest hour, heroes will rise to save the day.
