00:13Once upon a time, on Olympus, Athena, the warrior-daughter of Zeus, had a very dear childhood friend, whose name
00:21was Pallas.
00:23Pallas, was the daughter of the god, Triton, and Triton, was the son of Poseidon, and prince of the seas.
00:31From the time Athena had been born, from Zeus' head, she and Pallas, had always trained together.
00:38Prince Triton, taught the two girls, the arts of war.
00:41He taught them, how to use the spear, and shield, how to use the bow and arrow, and how to
00:47fight with a sword.
00:48When he felt they had learnt enough, Triton arranged for both of the girls, a friendly combat, a mock battle,
00:56a sort of training session, to imitate the real-life scene of war.
01:01The goal of the fight, was to disarm their opponent, and whoever managed to disarm her opponent, would be the
01:08winner.
01:09Most of the gods were present at the festival, to see the match, and the king god, Zeus, watched on,
01:16from the skies.
01:17When the friendly battle began, Athena and Pallas, fought each other, with spears.
01:23Both girls fought very well, and impressively, as the audience cheered them on.
01:29At the initial stage of the fight, Athena had the upper hand, and thus, dominated the fight, right until Pallas,
01:37took over, and began to dominate.
01:40Pallas fought, with renewed vigour, and focus, and as she was about to disarm Athena, Zeus secretly interfered.
01:49Zeus feared to see his own daughter lose.
01:51He feared the shame, as king of the gods.
01:54He saw it fitting, that his own daughter, emerged victorious.
01:59So, Zeus, stylishly, held up his aegis, which distracted Pallas.
02:05Pallas stood still, staring at the magnificent shield, in awe, completely oblivious to the rest of the fight, and this,
02:13gave Athena, enough chance to recover her strength.
02:17Still thinking her friend was conscious, of the fight, Athena, readied her spear.
02:23Expecting Pallas to dodge, as usual, Athena threw her spear, only to watch in total horror, as the spear impaled
02:31Pallas.
02:32It had fatally pierced her chest.
02:34With a loud cry, Athena rushed to help her friend.
02:38But it was too late.
02:39Pallas was dead.
02:40Out of the grief and regret, Athena built a statue, in the likeness of Pallas, and called it, the Palladium.
02:49She then, took the name, Pallas, as her own.
02:53Forgive me Pallas, for I know not how it happened.
02:58Thou were my friend, now thou art no more.
03:02But thou will not be forgotten.
03:05Thy name shall become my name, in honour of thy memory.
03:09Athena made the Palladium sacred, and placed it, in the city of Troy.
03:15As long as the Palladium remained in Troy, Troy would never be defeated.
03:19And so it was.
03:21The city of Troy, became invincible, and unconquerable.
03:25Until that fateful day, when the hero, Odysseus, stole the Palladium, from Troy.
