President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. inspects the damaged Agana Bridge in Tarlac City on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, following its collapse due to heavy southwest monsoon rains and strong currents in the Tarlac River. Marcos directed the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to expedite the restoration of connectivity in Tarlac and other flood-hit areas in Central Luzon. The DPWH has begun work on a temporary Bailey bridge at the site, with equipment and construction materials already deployed to help restore access as soon as possible. (via Mark Balmores | MB)

00:00Good morning, andito ngayon tayo in Ghana Bridge here in Sarlak.
00:25So, siguro within one week, may iusog na yan, yung Bailey Bridge, para pwede na, at the very least,
00:34pwede na ang pedestrian crossing dito within a week.
00:56tons and below,
00:57not more than that.
01:11This bridge has been standing since just after the war.
01:16So 70 years old na ito.
01:42But never mind, we will continue to adjust.
01:45Talangin na nanggaling din kami doon sa kabila, sa Aquino Bridge, the same thing.
01:51Natangay din yung section, yung isang span.
01:54So para maging mas mabilis ang trabaho, we will be downloading 300 million pesos to the local government.
02:03Dahil ito ay local bridge.
02:05Kaya sila kailangan ang magkatrabaho dito.
02:08Siyempre, tutulungan natin, tutulungan sa technical aspects.
02:12That will help them in everything, every way that we can.
02:17But just so that it is properly funded, it will go through the local government.
02:24The 300 million that will come from the national government, it will be bigay natin sa local government.
02:28And of course, local government and the national government magtuktulungan para maging mas mabilis.
02:34And like I say, I hope in two weeks, they assure me that in two weeks, there will already be
02:39light traffic allowed across Agana Bridge.
02:42And well, maybe the Aquino Bridge might take a little bit longer dahil mas malaki ang damage.
02:48As you can see, dito, talagang basta't tinangay lang yung span, isang span.
02:57At the estimate, ang sabi sa akin, the estimate ng takbo ng tubig is 30 to 35 knots ang takbo
03:05ng tubig.
03:06Kaya napakabilis, kaya napakabigat ng tubig.
03:09Kaya ganito mungyayari.
03:10So, but we will continue, we will continue to do everything that we can so that mabuksan na ito at
03:39Mr. President, Mr. GMA News, can you talk us a little bit about kung kung gusto po yung mga affected
03:44na families or mga communities po dito?
03:47Kasi you said, two weeks pa, tama po.
03:50Well, what the law...
03:51Gano ka layo pa inihipot nila or paano sila before madaanan pa yung bridge?
03:55Well, again, like I said, the bridge should be possible for pedestrian traffic by within a week, by one week,
04:02one week from now.
04:03And vehicular traffic two weeks from now, light vehicular traffic.
04:08Thank you, Bob.
04:09We are only executing it now.
04:11We have had a master plan for decades.
04:14But walang ginawa.
04:15Hanggang ngayon lang.
04:16Ngayon lang natin sinisimulan.
04:18Thank you, sir.
05:40You
