00:00Hello, we're David and Kaveena Richardson and we're from Carrie Hill Pastoral and we've been
00:04nominated for the Sustainability and Agriculture Award. Some may say that farming is in David's
00:09blood as he was raised here on a farm in the Great Southern and has been farming for most of
00:14his life.
00:16I came onto the farm full-time five years ago when we created Carrie Hill Pastoral.
00:21We breed purebred Angus beef cattle near Denmark, Western Australia.
00:25We have approximately 330 cows and 130 replacement heifers.
00:31We have a very keen focus on producing calves that have excellent calving ease, growth rates, fertility
00:38and of course eating quality for the end consumer.
00:42As custodians of this land we've adopted modern technology, especially the use of the Gallagher
00:48eShepherd collars, which allows us to have better controlled outcomes of pasture growth,
00:53utilisation, soil health and animal welfare.
00:57Our aim has been to utilise innovation to assist in creating and continuing a viable agricultural
01:03business whilst producing a sustainable succession plan that will produce better outcomes for our
01:09cattle, our land, business, personal wellbeing and our future farmers.
