00:00Hi, I'm Amanda Smyth and I'm a nominee in the Innovation in Agriculture Award as part of the
00:06Australian Agriculture Awards. So we're here at our farm in Glasshouse Mountains. Wild horse turf
00:12has been operating for 20 years here on the Sunshine Coast. We grow five varieties of turf,
00:19each suited to different yards and applications. We've been lucky enough to supply some really
00:26incredible sporting fields and homes over the years. Real thrilled to be nominated and yeah a
00:32bit of an honour really because innovation happens so often in agriculture and often nobody outside of
00:39that specific industry, say turf for us, knows the clever ideas and progress that's being made.
00:46What I jokingly call our great grass gamble happened a couple of years into farming. We were only growing
00:53wintergreen cooch and saw the opportunity to grow a buffalo that would be better suited to shady
01:01yards. When we started growing here we were just growing this 25 acres of turf on this one farm and
01:10since then we've expanded. We're growing over three different farms in the Glasshouse and Beer Burrum
01:16areas. One of the incredible things that we've been able to do in our time here on the farm
01:22is provide some turfs to some pretty fancy clients including the Gabba which and Alan Borda Oval as
01:30well. So you know that's real high praise when the curator of the Gabba wants your grass on the pitch.
