00:00The other storyline that we're going to see in college football this year is, guess what?
00:04The overhyping of Arch Manning.
00:08Look, I like the kid.
00:10I think the kid a year ago had really a tough beginning.
00:13Obviously, that Ohio State game in Columbus really set the stage.
00:17For it was a really rough and rocky start to his career as a starting quarterback for the Longhorns.
00:23But as the season went on, he started getting the understanding of what the position was.
00:28He started becoming a better football player.
00:31And by the end of the year, Arch Manning was the SEC player of the week.
00:37He had turned it around where he had beaten Texas A&M.
00:40He had gotten themselves into a bowl game.
00:43And they ended up doing a pretty good job by the end of the year.
00:47And they're one of the prohibited favorites to go on and win the national championship this year.
00:52And also potentially win himself a Heisman Trophy.
00:56Look, go back to the days of Tim Tebow, when you had all this hype over one guy.
01:02Look, the last name Manning is royalty in football in this country.
01:06And you've got great expectations.
01:09If your name is Bronny James, or if your name is Manning, or if you're any of these kids, any
01:15of these siblings, you've got to understand something.
01:17A lot of pressure.
01:18If you're Shador Sanders, the last name Sanders, I think Arch Manning has done a hell of a job there
01:23in Austin, handling all the pressure.
01:26I think the fact that his uncles have been able to help him navigate this.
01:30And what I love also, he does something that's an outlier here.
01:34Guess what he's doing?
01:36He's staying in college.
01:38He's getting his reps.
01:40He's maturing as a quarterback.
01:43He's readying himself to be the number one overall player selected.
01:47And next April's drafted, which I think he will be.
01:50I like the player.
01:51I think the kid has an opportunity to go to the next level and become a superstar player in the
01:57right situation.
01:59Look, Tim Tebow had so much hype when he was at Florida.
02:03And Arch Manning is right in that conversation right now.
02:07With social media, with Nill, and the amount of money that he's made, I think Arch has done a hell
02:12of a job.
02:12Let's not forget something, too.
02:14Arch Manning in Austin, this kid's been making $5 million a year alone in Nill the last five years.
02:25And that tells you a lot on how he's handled himself.
02:28You've never heard any kind of issues off the field.
02:31All you're hearing is a guy who wants to maintain and get himself an opportunity to become the number one
02:37overall player selected in April's draft.
02:39I think the kid's going to be in for a great year this year.
02:42My question mark will come down to the head coach, Steve Sarkeesian.
02:46I think Sark is one of the most overrated coaches in the country.
02:49How can you have that many five-star kids on your program and you're not winning a national championship?
02:56This is not like UNC.
02:59This is Texas.
03:00I'll say it again.
03:02That's not UNC or Colorado.
03:04That's Texas.
03:05And when you're at the University of Texas, the expectations is not just to win an SEC title.
03:11The expectations in Austin are to win national championships.
03:16That's what that program is.
03:17Some of these blue blood programs, you don't get the benefit of winning nine ballgames or ten ballgames.
03:24You've got to win national championships.
03:27That's how you're gauged in that state.
03:29And that's how you're gauged at that program.
03:32Same when it comes to being a player.
03:34When you're somebody in the elk of Arch Manning, if you want to be considered one of the greatest players
03:40in the history of Longhorn football,
03:42Hoss, you've got to deliver the mail.
03:45You've got to carry the water.
03:47You've got to be a guy that's going to win a national title.
03:50And that's what it takes to be a quarterback there in Austin.
03:53And I think Arch has done a great job.
03:55As I said, by the end of the year, when he got into that A&M game, there's no question.
04:01I think that he ended up getting himself better.
04:04I think he saw the game better.
04:06I think he ended up carrying his football team.
04:08He went for over 3,500 yards passing and for over 600 yards rushing.
04:12And he started to show some of that dual threat ability that I think is going to carry him into
04:17the NFL.
04:18He is truly one of the best prospects we've seen at the quarterback position.
04:24And with the last name of Manning, expectations come with it.
04:28There's no doubt he will be one of the most focused players in all of college football this year when
04:35we get to the end.
04:36There's going to be a Heisman Trophy guy.
04:38And will he be the Heisman Trophy winner?
04:41That's yet to be seen.
04:42But I will tell you this.
04:44He's going to be in the running for it.
04:46And I think he's got just as good a shot as anybody to win the national championship also and to
04:52win a Heisman Trophy.
04:54I saw some great college football over the weekend.
04:56It was just great to see the game back.
04:59It was great to see the teams back on the tube again.
