00:03As Chris Minns tries to bat away One Nation, he's playing Mr Nice Guy.
00:08Well, look, I was pretty impressed with how candid he was.
00:11I think that's a good part of politics. I welcome him to the debate.
00:15The Rhodes Minister was less complimentary.
00:17Look, I thought he was all over the place.
00:20Jenny Aitchison's seat, Maitland, is next to Cessnock,
00:23a Labor stronghold One Nation's Mike Newman plans to win.
00:26The only job that Jenny Aitchison's worried about is her own.
00:29Labor seized on the new leader's remarks on the bailout of the Tomago smelter.
00:34I seriously will not be lectured by a government
00:36that's just wasted $1.2 billion on Tomago
00:39because they killed an industry.
00:41He's also trashed the Tomago deal.
00:44Those were 1,000 jobs that never needed saving.

01:12Mr Newman has criticised what he calls a bloated bureaucracy,
01:15but he says it was a mistake for the government
01:18to scrap the trade commissioner roles
01:20and he would consider reinstating them.
01:22If One Nation has the opportunity to lead,
01:24I would definitely look at doing something similar to that.
01:26But as I said, I want to get experienced people
01:29from the private sector.
01:31Doesn't that necessarily increase the size of the bureaucracy?
01:34No, well, the thing is...
01:36Well, the question is...
01:38I want to hire people who want to serve their state.
01:41I could have done five times as much business
01:44on one-fifth the number of staff.
01:46The debate just getting started.
01:50I don't think that it's a lot of
