00:00a good song will always be good yeah yeah yeah you know like there's songs all the time it's like
00:05how did the song from 2010 blow up all of a sudden it's like oh it was actually in a
00:09tiktok and it's
00:10like right a great song will always be a great song it's true that's not happening to bad song
00:15you're right you're right so like that's the biggest thing is i think that you know a song
00:19that's put out today that we're like oh like good music isn't good i've said it's like who's to say
00:23in 10 years that song doesn't just blow up again yeah blow up and have another moment like a lot
00:28there's a ton of sometimes moments right now yeah yeah it's what is like kind of what's getting
00:32past the moments today trey this is your odyssey check-in we are here at the hard rock hotel new
00:40york with alex warren it is good to see you again my friend um congratulations on everything all the
00:47things um you know up to this point what's the best cover you've heard somebody do of ordinary
00:55do you have a favorite whoa i've never been asked that i think that there's a america's got
01:01talent one okay please jordan okay a really great one yeah it's got a very soulful voice so i really
01:07enjoyed that there was also america's got talent there was a woman who did it as well i'm forgetting
01:11her name but she crushed it and i reposted that as well so i like when they do them on
01:16like the
01:16talent shows yeah yeah yeah i like when they do the um the live lounge ones as well when other
01:23artists do that like i saw sienna spyro she recently covered uh olivia oh my gosh is there
01:28anyone that hasn't done a cover of that song or one of your songs whose voice you would love to
01:33hear
01:33do it i would love to hear greasy eight months do first time on her it's so like i feel
01:39like you said
01:40that like you've been thinking about it for a very long time i have been i think that she that
01:45song
01:45would really complement my voice oh i love that yeah do you feel like that song got too big is
01:52that
01:52not even a thing ordinary yeah um no no i don't think so i think i was scared of that
01:59for a very
01:59long time but i think that i've had a few other songs do really well that i'm really excited about
02:04and i think that regardless of how big a record got i think it you know it was played at
02:09funerals
02:09so it's played at weddings so many things i think the only way would have done that is that it
02:13wasn't
02:13as big as it was yeah like i think that you know those coming amongst people's lives would benefit
02:18from that song yeah and that whole too big thing is a myth right it's like i feel like you
02:23get more
02:24in your head about it than anything else yeah i also think it's like a record looks too big when
02:29the artist probably didn't do enough with it honestly i've done a lot with that song and a lot
02:35of the other songs too so i just had a really blast of kind of like giving them all the
02:38flowers
02:38yeah yeah album last year album this year wild child about to come out i mean that's quick dude
02:45was there did you feel like some kind of sense of urgency to get out another project or no i
02:50just
02:51didn't want to make sense really so we were doing the album uh on my off time and between tours
02:55so i
02:56had about two or three months in between tours and we started working on the album then and then i
03:00started going on tour so we marched and um you know whenever i'd have off time or whenever i had
03:06days
03:06off they'd fly out and finish the album and we've been working on this album after about a year year
03:10and a half so it's been really cool to kind of like you know perfect this a little bit you
03:15get it out
03:15there what song on there do you think um fans will be most surprised by oh gosh wild child's one
03:22that i
03:22think people are going to be really surprised i love that song so much that record is um is four
03:27minutes long and there's guitar solo fucking minute and a half at the end so it's really cool yeah yeah
03:32um do you do you feel like this album you know i know on the last album you had a
03:38couple of features
03:39on there did you did you reach out to anybody for this one or did you feel like this album
03:43it just
03:44didn't require it or what that's the one person okay say who she is drop the name alex no
03:51okay okay but um no we had i had amazing people play guitar from yeah there's one really known person
03:59who played who did the guitar solo at the end yeah and then um and there's uh there's a really
04:04famous guitarist who did uh guitars for the you know the title track as well so it's really exciting
04:09oh that's wonderful i i love how creative you've been with the uh like teaser videos and stuff you've
04:15got you know jennifer aniston uh kevin james and stuff like that uh is this like your strategy to
04:22become an actor yourself you're like i'm gonna befriend these people and and force them to put me in
04:27movies or is that your strategy or what are we doing here i so i write the scripts a lot
04:32of times
04:32okay okay i just have fun with it my it's so cool it's really fun yeah i like acting i
04:38never realized
04:39i would enjoy it yeah i i do and it's it's terrifying and fun but to be honest it's more
04:43fulfilling like
04:44my childhood dream of meaning like my heroes but the kevin one's crazy dude you're young like there's
04:50no way you grew up on the king of queens no i grew up with like grown-ups okay okay
04:54but even king
04:55of queens you have to think like my parent i grew up with everyone loves raymond i grew up with
04:59uh
05:00you know you had tim allen's home improvement yeah yeah i grew up in that world because my parents
05:05loved it yeah yeah so you know i i definitely grew up with kings of queens i just that's not
05:08what i
05:09necessarily you know gravitated towards i gravitated towards like you know grown-ups and all that stuff
05:14you know yeah yeah yeah so it's really cool to kind of like be able to work with these people
05:19are these people in your phone now yeah they are yes so like all right you shoot a video with
05:24jennifer aniston right and then i imagine the follow-up text afterwards it's got to be awkward
05:31right like what do you say oh hey watching the morning show thinking of you like what's what's
05:36the follow-up text like do you use the number or is it given as like a courtesy thing and
05:41you're
05:41not really supposed to use it i use them okay i use them so there there's a exchange yes that's
05:48beautiful people a lot actually i text having the most i think okay kim's great um yeah no i text
05:53all
05:53of them jen jen's a sweetheart jen does these things every sunday that's really fun i i've yet to go
05:58but i
05:59hear they're fun that's wonderful before we wrap up um i wanted to get your uh thoughts on this do
06:05you
06:06feel like today music is viewed too much as content oh how do you mean like i don't know i
06:16just feel
06:17like um there's this uh pressure to produce constantly right like be putting something out
06:25constantly and the shelf life for songs is less and less and it's viewed as like a drop and not
06:32just
06:33necessarily something that you live with dissect and continue to play until the next album comes up
06:41i think because it's so saturated there's so many like it's always been saturated but i think before
06:45the label got to pick who made it right like before you had to sign your life away and you
06:51know all of
06:51a sudden people if you you played the game right and you kissed the right you know and all of
06:56a sudden
06:56you got to play on all these tv shows yeah yeah now it's in the it's in the the fans
07:03perspective
07:03it's now who do the fans want to blow up and right depending on a viral video it could be
07:08anyone yeah
07:08and now there's a ton of people who have moments and everyone trying to capitalize on the moment and
07:13everyone kind of using the same strategies for that so i think that oftentimes it comes in disingenuous
07:18and people oftentimes have to just keep producing music music to kind of get past that little
07:24threshold of what that moment was and now becomes a big moment you are now a big moment and everything
07:28right right i think that it's just a part of the game because you have to look at there's songs
07:34that
07:34from 10 years ago that are blowing up again totally so so like a good song will always be good
07:39yeah yeah
07:40you know like there's songs all the time where it's like how did the song from 2010 blow up all
07:45of a
07:45sudden it's like oh it was actually in a tiktok and it's like right a great song will always be
07:50a
07:50great song it's true that's not happening to bad song you're right you're right so like that's the
07:55biggest thing is i think that you know a song that's put out today that we're like oh like good
07:58music isn't good i've said to everyone's like who's to say in 10 years that song doesn't just blow up
08:03again yeah blow up and have another moment like a lot of there's a ton of songs having moments right
08:07now yeah it's what is like kind of what's getting past the moment stage right and it's really difficult
08:12this year's really hard for music there's so much music yeah and so many people are so not over
08:16last year's music right right so all of a sudden i was like what there's so much this year there's
08:20so much last year what am i supposed to listen to it's true man it's almost because we have access
08:25to so much music now it's almost overwhelming at times like you know how many new artists can i be
08:32listening to at once you're right i think that for an artist's career in today's age the first two
08:38albums they have so much to say and so they're so close together and i think after those two things
08:42you go live life a little bit more and you write an album two or three years yeah yeah like
08:47for me
08:47at least like this is my second album but you know my first album is 21 and songs right lots
08:52right
08:52dude right um in a time when a lot of people are five years right right right right so i
08:57just didn't
08:58i thought all these songs were so pivotal to who i am as a musician i don't want to get
09:01rid of any of
09:01them yeah this album was all stuff that was written this year and the end of last year and they're
09:07like
09:07there's 13 songs right right like these are songs that are about me you've you've known me for this
09:13amount of time now like you've known they're post-ordinary so you know you've known me for
09:17this amount of time and i feel like this is now like it feels like a debut album because it
09:21feels
09:21like this is me as a musician this is me as an artist like this was that was me becoming
09:25one you
09:26know and so i think i'll flip that out and i'll go start family and i'll enjoy life and figure
09:31that out
09:32play shows and be able to come back in a few years and say like this is what i want
09:36to say
09:36when you have things to say right right the best yeah yeah yes she comes and goes when she has
09:41things to say and she's very intentional what she said yeah yeah oh my goodness man i could talk
09:48to you for the whole day but i know you have a burrito to get to and other things going
09:53on so
09:53alex yes yes thank you so much congratulations on everything brother appreciate you so much of course
