01:11So which songs are you really excited to finally be able to stop gatekeeping from Icons?
01:18Honestly, like all of them are so, so, so good.
01:22Like we love every single one of them.
01:24I think we're, oh my God, I think we love, love, love that way.

01:30And we're really proud of Laura as well for writing and producing Unlove You.

01:38So, but we have like special tracks, like every single one is so special.

01:44I mean, you guys have called this like a more raw, authentic side of Cat's Eye, but what
01:48does being Wilde mean to you guys right now?
01:50I feel like it means, to us, I think Wilde is just a big sister of Beautiful Chaos.
01:58It feels like Wilde is like the final destination of the Beautiful Chaos era, if that makes sense.
02:06Like it's us taking it further and being like, okay, we're going to really go for it, do songs
02:13that are all like completely different to one another.
02:17Like each song is really unique, but then still is like cohesive and still fits within
02:22the same world, I think.
02:24So yeah, it's just, that's kind of like full sending it.

02:27I mean, it is like really crazy to think it's only been two years since Sis and then Beautiful
02:32Chaos and now Wilde.
02:34Where do you guys think you've grown the most in between those projects?
02:37Honestly, like I feel like we have grown so much as artists, I think, especially like,
02:45like as a group and individually as well.
02:49Um, but I mean, we've, we're still experimenting and figuring out our sound and trying new things.
02:58But I mean, we're still going to keep evolving.
03:00Like it's always going to keep growing.

03:03And throwing it back to Beautiful Chaos.
03:05It was a huge breakthrough for you guys.

03:09Do you think in Wilde, you kind of felt like you had to live up to that success or did

03:13want to take it a completely different direction?
03:16I actually feel like Wilde, we were like, this needs to be even bigger than Beautiful
03:24Chaos, if that makes sense.
03:26I feel like Beautiful Chaos still felt very introductory, if that makes sense.
03:30Like, it was more of us shaping the identity of Cat's Eye, whereas now I feel like the identity
03:37of Cat's Eye is a little bit more established.
03:39I know we're still very, very new, very, very young.
03:42But I feel like at least within us, we know ourselves better and we know who Cat's Eye
03:48is more.
03:49So this was more like, okay, it's time to like rock the world and like really have them
03:55know who we are.
03:57You know what I mean?
03:57Know the songs.
03:58Yeah, I mean, I do think Cat's Eye has like more than one identity and sound music wise.

04:05I mean, like, what would you say like when you hear a song and you just have a feeling
04:08like that's Cat's Eye?
04:10Like, how does that go for you in your head?
04:12It's like different.
04:14Like, I feel like we're still establishing that sound.
04:19But like, if you listen to our songs, like every single song is so different.
04:27So honestly, I don't know.
04:29Like, I feel like we're still figuring that out ourselves.
04:32Was there a song that you heard for a while that you connected with immediately?
04:39Oh, actually, when I heard On Love You, I was like, oh my gosh, like this song is so good.
04:48And we actually heard the demo first.
04:51And I was like, wait, this demo sounds like Lara.
04:54And I was like, and I noticed like the day after it was Lara's song.
05:00So I was like, oh my God, it's you.
05:01That was the one?
05:02Really?
05:03Yes.
05:04She said, wow.
05:05I heard that you wrote the song, but I didn't know that song was yours.
05:09So I was like, whoa, like you made a good one.

05:15Any of them that you were just like, wow, yes, this is us.

05:18Well, I think On Love You for sure.
05:20Like, I think as I was making it, I was like, this is so Cat's Eye.
05:23And I think it was because I like created it for Cat's Eye.
05:28Like, I went in the studio being like, okay, I want Dani to sing this.
05:31I want Yuche to sing this.
05:33Like, I knew strategically like what area of like each girl's voice I wanted to show.
05:39So I think I was definitely like, this is Cat's Eye.
05:42But also that way, I think I heard it and I was just like, this is a banger.
05:48Like, I love this song.

06:13And they have me doing a little section in Portuguese, which I was so down for.

06:23I recorded it in Spanish and Portuguese, but obviously we went with the Portuguese because
06:29of course it is a Brazilian inspired song.
06:33So we went with that.
06:35But I also love just like the musicality of that song.
06:41I feel like I personally gravitate towards more dancey, like dance pop songs.

06:48So that one, Pinky Up 2 at first, like loved and was obsessed with that.
06:55And then, see, I can't pick one.
06:57And then that way also, like, I mean, I think it's phases.
07:04Like at first it was that, then it's this, now it's, you know.

07:09Well, I mean, let's talk about Animal a little bit because Ed Sheeran casually co-wrote that.

07:18Like when you heard it, what was the reaction?
07:19And then did it make you feel a little bit more like, oh my gosh, Ed Sheeran co-wrote

07:25Like, I feel like, I think it wasn't as much pressure.
07:31I feel like it was just a lot of excitement.
07:34I think when we first heard it, we were like, oh my God, this is so Ed Sheeran.
07:39Like it's, it's so him.
07:41And I remember he, when we met him, he was like, I wrote you guys a song.
07:46And so, but then we didn't get to hear it that day.
07:49And then I remember like, maybe like a week later, like a couple weeks later, our team
07:53played it for us and we were like, that's the song that he was talking about.
07:58And we loved it.
07:59I felt like the thing that excited me the most probably was like, okay, we can show our
08:04vocals on this.
08:05I was like, I feel like this has a bit more like edge and soul and like, it just showcases
08:12like a more belty, different side of our voice that was like really exciting.
08:18I felt like we could play with it.
08:19I love that.
08:20And you guys just did it on The Tonight Show, right?
08:22Yes, we did.
08:23Also a huge deal, especially for any new artists.
08:25Do you guys still get nervous about those kinds of performances or are you like, no,
08:28we got this now.
08:29It's fine.

08:31I think, okay.
08:33I feel like when we go on tour and we do our shows on tour, the first show, always a
08:40little
08:40nervous, of course, because you're getting back into it.
08:42But then once you start doing it like every day and it's just like, like we're like kicking
08:48and like laughing about something stupid, like literally a second before.
08:51And we're like, we're like making faces and like, just like joking and like not being serious.
08:57Literally like when we were like rising up onto the stage.
09:02Yeah, we would be like, we would be like checking each other, like, like checking like our faces and stuff.
09:10And we were just being silly.
09:11But I feel like we get used to it a little bit.
09:14I personally was a little nervous for Jimmy Fallon, actually.
09:21But then once you're on stage and you're in it, you're in it and you kind of forget it.
09:26So I think it just depends.
09:29But I mean, I mean, of course, we still get a little nervous sometime.
09:34We were nervous because it's important to us.
09:37Right.

09:38I mean, it's all important.
09:41But yeah, I don't know.

09:44I mean, let's talk about the differences in all of these songs, right?
09:47Hooty Fruity, Pinky Up, Animal.
09:48They all sound completely different, which is great.
09:51I mean, was that a goal for a while?
09:53Do you want to push everything in a different direction?
09:54Or was there more of like, this is cohesion to us?
09:57Yeah, I feel like, well, that's what I was kind of saying is like, I definitely think it was a
10:03goal.
10:03I feel like that's a theme that we have like throughout the three EPs that we've now put out is
10:08that every song is very different.
10:10I feel like, I don't know necessarily if that's intentional, but I like it.
10:17I think we're going with it because it's like, it's cool.
10:21I feel like it's nice that there's something for everyone.
10:24I like that we are experimenting with different genres.
10:28And yeah, I think it's just cool, especially I think a girl group that is so universal and global and
10:35like has fans of so many different age groups, different countries, like walks of life.
10:41I think it's nice to have lots of differences in the music for sure.
10:46Agreed.
10:47And I think like pinky up is one of the best examples of I feel like who you guys are
10:51and who you're becoming too.
10:52I mean, it has a very, I think cat's eye sound like it's something only you guys could release.
10:57But I mean, was that a goal for you guys as well?
10:59Are you a little bit more comfortable releasing something that makes people go like, wait, what did I just hear?
11:03Yeah, I mean, I think we're still in that experimental process.
11:09So we're kind of down for anything to be so honest with you.
11:14Um, but I mean, yeah, we're, we're just going with the flow.

11:19Same thing with gnarly, which is like, I mean, we love, I mean, like, I think it just proved to
11:24everybody that like being polarizing and pop music isn't necessarily a bad thing.
11:28You know, like, is that something that I think you guys own at this point?
11:33You're just kind of like, we're going to do what we want to do.
11:34Yes, absolutely.
11:36I feel like it's like the coolest thing.
11:38I think we were so excited about gnarly specifically because it was so polarizing.
11:43And like, we just wanted to feel that feeling of like, oh my God, people are going to either hate
11:49this or love it.
11:50I think we don't ever want to be like, okay, this is cool.
11:56Like, I heard that.
11:57And then you go about your day.
11:58Right.
11:58We want it to like linger in people's heads, even if they absolutely hate it.
12:02It's like, it's still, it just like made them feel something.
12:06I think I'd much rather that than a whatever, you know?
12:11So we always embrace that for sure.

12:14Like, what would be a song that each of you guys would defend with your life?
12:17A Cat's Eye song that you're just like, this is it.
12:19I'm going to say gnarly.
12:21I think gnarly is a really good song.
12:24I think we have to say gnarly just because of, you know, what it went through.

12:30Yeah.
12:31Do you have a different one?
12:32I think I would say gnarly too.

12:35I mean, speaking of being polarizing or maybe having like some bad reactions or something,
12:40you know, bad is all just in your head, whatever.
12:42But who checks the comments whenever you guys release something?
12:45Who's the one that's like, oh my gosh, I got to see what people are saying?
12:47I feel like none of the three of us have been recently.
12:49No, to be real, at the beginning, everybody.
12:53Okay.
12:53Now, nobody.
12:54Like, we try not to, you know what I mean?
12:56Like, we'll try our best to not really look at the comments.
13:00And it's not, sometimes it's just not, it's just not healthy to look at them, especially
13:07like consistently, you know?
13:10Even the positive ones, too.

13:12I feel like both is like, it gets to your head in like a different way.
13:19And it's never, it's always toxic.
13:22You shouldn't let like people's opinions like kind of just change your perspective on how
13:30you think about certain things, especially things that you create, you know what I mean?
13:33So it's just like, no need to.
13:36Sometimes it's totally fine and it's beautiful sometimes to look at them and like, it's really
13:41nice and encouraging what people have to say.
13:45But at the same time, sometimes people are really mean on the internet to be so real with
13:51you and so I think just to, what is the saying?

14:00Protect my peace.
14:01To protect my peace, I just put my phone down and I just kind of let.
14:06That's the only control you have.
14:08You just got to put it down and you got to delete it.

14:24I think you guys do a lot of kind of like, we're performing this for the first time in

14:48We love performing that way because we get to like, very like, like, you know, we can
14:56be pretty and like free and charisma.
14:59So yeah, being able to perform that on the fan, with the fans was really fun.
15:07And yeah, well, yeah, it was fun to see all the clips from that online.
15:15So congrats on, you know, doing that and like getting a positive reaction for that.
15:20So Laura, let's talk about Unlove You.
15:23Yeah.
15:23So tell me about that experience in the studio.
15:26Oh my God.
15:26It was epicness.
15:28Like, seriously, it was just incredible.
15:31I love songwriting so much and producing and like, that is genuinely my biggest passion
15:40and favorite thing to do.
15:41Like, I spent every waking moment that I'm not here doing that.
15:46So it was always my biggest goal to do that for Cat's Eye and like, I've been trying for
15:52a really long time.
15:53So I'm really happy that it happened.
15:55I feel like what's so awesome is like, nobody knows Cat's Eye better than Cat's Eye.
16:00Do you know what I mean?
16:02And like, I also really love the girls so much.
16:06I feel like I know them.
16:08We all know each other better than really anyone in the rest of the world, I'd say now, because
16:13we spend so much time together.
16:15And I feel like I really specifically like wanted to make something that made everyone's
16:24voice shine, not just like a couple of girls or like not shine in the same way that it
16:30has before.
16:31I wanted to give everyone like a different, something unique that they haven't done yet.
16:37So it was amazing.
16:39And it was a release and like, it, it was a big victory.

17:08And like, I honestly like think about it in bed, like every night, like it keeps me up

17:22And you had Nadia Hallgren, who directed Pop Star Academy and Wild Heart.
17:27And that is something that I think had, you know, she had a hand in you guys beforehand
17:31and saw you guys before so much success.
17:33And then also was able to tell this story on the back end.
17:35Now that you guys are, you know, incredibly successful and actually these pop stars, what
17:39is it like to have somebody that was involved beforehand still tell this story and this chapter
17:44now?
17:45I think it's nice that we got to work with her again, just because she was there for
17:52the whole thing.
17:54And she kind of understands like our whole journey and for her to come back and kind
18:00of just explain Cat's Eye now, like in Cat's Eye's journey, not just Dream Academy is really
18:08nice.
18:09Obviously, like we love her so much and she's amazing.
18:13Yeah.
18:14And the first documentary was asking, can these girls be pop stars?
18:17Now you guys are those pop stars.
18:19So what is it like now watching yourselves from the other side?
18:23It's scary.
18:24It's crazy.
18:25Well, I remember we were just like in Cringe Fest.

18:31No, there's so many clips in the film where I'm just like.
18:35We were just like this.
18:36Like, because it's just always weird, like watching yourself.
18:41And I also feel like we like, okay, now we work so much and we rehearse so much that we
18:46show up like so bummy, like every day.
18:50And I feel like we were so used to the documentary cameras being there.
18:55So now when they were filming this time, it's like we barely noticed it.
18:58And I was not on for the camera.
19:00Like we were being kind of too free.

19:06And so I think that like we look back and we're like, oh my God, we look crazy.

20:02I think we're so excited to show, like all the behind the scenes of our, all of the journeys.
20:13And also we interviewed a lot about, we talked about a lot of,
20:18our, each other's relationships and about our friendship and like each other's personalities.
20:29So I think they will have fun to see.
20:35I mean, we just got, we have to touch on the Grammys, right?

21:48I mean, when I first heard about, you know, being able to sing in Spanish, I was like,
21:55oh my God, like I feel like my life is like, like complete.
21:57Like I've been wanting to do this for so long and just be able to be there and be a
22:03representation
22:03for the Latin community.
22:06And so I was just very honored to do that.
22:09I was really, really genuinely happy to do that.
22:12And I, I hope I can do it again.
22:15I would love to just like do more in that world and maybe collab with Latin artists and
22:22go to Latin America.
22:24Can we, when, whenever we go to Latin America or yeah, when we went for Lala Palooza.
22:29Oh my God.
22:30Like Gabriela is it's, it gets really loud.
22:33It gets so loud.
22:35And all the icons, they know all the single words like verbatim and it's beautiful.
22:42It's beautiful that I'm able to connect with the icons like that and just also talk to
22:49them in Spanish and in my native language.
22:53So it's, I don't know the word, the best way to explain it is just like, it felt really
22:58nice, you know, but last question before we embark on this arena tour, I mean like insane
23:11to do like O2 and crypto.com and all of that.
23:14What are your goals for the tour?
23:15What can we expect?
23:17How wild are we getting?
23:18What are the vibes?
23:18Um, I think, um, we're so excited for this tour because we have so much bigger stage
23:30now, so maybe we can, um, show more creative elements and a lot more, and a lot more productions.
23:43Yes, so bigger production.

23:50Yes.
23:51I feel like just expect a lot of things you haven't seen yet.
23:54Expect a lot of like, I, I think like everyone's going to shine in a new way.
