00:00Hi, I'm Joel Donnan from Walangie in the Mallee in northwest Victoria.
00:04Together with my wife and family, we run Anden Stud,
00:07a mixed farming enterprise with a real focus on stud sheep and sheep genetics.
00:12I've been lucky enough to be nominated and named a finalist in the Innovation in Agriculture Award.
00:18Here at Anden, we invest a lot of time and energy into making our livestock enterprise
00:23as efficient and progressive as we possibly can.
00:26For us, innovation isn't just one thing.
00:29It's bringing together genetics, data, reproduction, EID technology
00:34and a disciplined management system to continually improve the sheep we produce
00:40and the way we produce them.
00:42A good example of that is our reproduction program,
00:46where we've worked hard to tighten joining and lambing windows,
00:50the use of artificial insemination, data and good management
00:53to create more predictable and consistent outcomes.
00:57A big passion of mine is also sharing what we've learnt.
01:00Through the field days and working with other producers,
01:04I really enjoy helping people understand what's possible.
01:08When we make better use of genetics and the information we have available to us,
01:13I still think there's a huge amount of upside in the livestock industry.
01:16And that's what excites me most.
01:19Continuing to improve what we do here,
01:21while hopefully helping others see what's possible as well.
