00:00Okay so hello again my friends and welcome to part three of this trail cam
00:07camera trapping diary. I've come up to the third location which is up by these
00:16massive boulders which you can see go all the way up and you can see there's a
00:22network of crevices and dens and caves and on the trail cam that I had left here
00:31on the tree only on one night I did manage to record I think it was a beach
00:37martin again running up this rock here again I only caught the tail end of it
00:43so I'm assuming it's a beach martin as those seem to be more prevalent in the
00:49area so I shall try and figure out a way of setting up the camera trap that is
00:57safe because it's really steep slope up here and if he was climbing up he might
01:04have gone up to this den up here so I'm going to try and set it up so that I
01:09can
01:09see that then that rock this overhanging tree here and try and frame up a nice
01:17composition in the hope that we might record something so first I need to
01:22switch out all the batteries dry off the camera gear and the flashes and
01:26everything and set it up so I'll be back to with you as soon as I have done all
01:31that and set up the camera so bear with me
02:07so
02:09hmm
02:10yeah
02:11yeah
02:13yeah
03:33That's all set up as best as I can.
03:35Now I'll give you a quick talk through of what I've done here.
03:41Okay, so the main entrance that I'm covering is that one up there.
03:45So I've set the camera trap up here rather precariously.
03:49Hopefully it'll be safe though.
03:51I've sort of wedged it in the tripod between the cracks there.
03:55And if I take you around the front you can see.
03:58So I've got the camera.
04:01I've got the flash down below and I've got the sensor on the tripod leg as well.
04:05Because I can't actually get up this slope.
04:07It's that steep to position it anywhere near the opening.
04:12And it's super slippery.
04:14And I've already had one fall.
04:17So I don't want to risk my knee any more than I have to.
04:21So on the opposite side I've set up the flash here.
04:24Where is it?
04:25Just there.
04:26Which is going to hopefully illuminate all these mossy boulders.
04:32And give the shot some nice depth.
04:36And on the tree here is the trail cam surveying the whole scene.
04:43So with luck I might just be able to capture something here.
04:49We'll see.
04:50I've only got a few days left to actually record anything.
04:54Because then I'll be heading back to Athens.
04:59And so I don't want to leave it over the Christmas period unattended.
05:02So I'll be back in three or four days to see if there's anything on it.
05:07And to break it down.
05:09Pack it all away again until after Christmas.
05:12And probably after New Year as well.
05:14And then I'll be back up here again.
05:16So yeah.
05:19I shall catch up with you.
05:21Hopefully in a few days when I come to check on this setup here.
05:26I shall see you then.
05:28Okay.
05:29So hello again my friends.
05:30And I'm back up at the camera trap where I left off last time.
05:35At the boulder.
05:36The big boulders.
05:37And the little network of caves here that I wanted to set the camera trap up at.
05:44Unfortunately on this occasion we didn't get a result.
05:47So and that's despite from a few nights back before I had to set up the trap here.
05:56Seeing a beach martin.
05:57What I believe to be a beach martin going up the rock face here from the trail cam.
06:02But yeah nevertheless it is what it is.
06:06I thought maybe I wouldn't show you this.
06:09But I decided to publish this video anyway.
06:13Just to show you that it's not every single time that when I set the trap out I get a
06:18result.
06:19And more often than not it's nights and nights and nights worth of absolutely nothing.
06:25False triggers, misfires and all the rest of it.
06:31So yeah.
06:34This will be the last one in this little series.
06:38Before Christmas at least.
06:39And the new year.
06:41And at which time in the next.
06:43In January when I'm back up here.
06:46I hope to go further up the mountain.
06:51Find a location that's a little bit more remote.
06:55It'll be a lot higher elevation as well.
06:58Which means we should get a different bunch of animals.
07:01So up there we have roe deer, wolves, badgers, foxes, martins again.
07:08Wild boar.
07:09Lots of different things to hopefully we might discover further up the mountain.
07:14And the other bonus is that it will hopefully be a lot more remote.
07:17And less likely for the kit to be discovered.
07:20And I can leave it out with a lot more peace of mind.
07:24And a lot less anxiety than I've been having here.
07:27So close to where people walk.
07:31And where people bring their dogs etc.
07:34So yeah.
07:36Thanks again so much for following along.
07:40I wish you all the very best for Christmas and the new year.
07:44And I hope to catch up with you.
07:46If I don't bring you another one I might bring you another video.
07:49Not camera trapping but just regular wildlife photography and filming video.
07:57But until the next one I wish you all the very best.
08:01And I thank you again.
08:02Bye for now.
08:03Bye for now.
08:04Bye for now.
08:05Bye for now.
08:05Bye.
08:19Bye for now.
08:26Bye.
08:32I'll see you next time.
