Dear Friends,
Just a quick update on the camera trap I placed in the mountain stream so as not to leave you hanging..!

In the event, over the 5 days it was in place, the trap recorded only one image of a little mouse. I had to take it down due to the authorities concern over an outbreak of African Swine flu that we have in the area so no chance of capturing anything else for the moment.

The trailcams I placed up at the waterfall recorded a Beech Marten crossing a fallen log over the stream as well as what I believe to be a female Goshawk calling to its mate. I have a feeling they're nesting somewhere in the area.

So that's about it for the moment... I'll be away for a lot of August and then in September I'll be coming back to the UK to lead a couple of drone photography/videography workshops, so that being the case I will return with more camera trapping videos in the Autumn.

Have a great summer and see you all on the other side..!
all the best

00:00So hello again my friends. I hope you're all doing well. This is just a very quick update video
00:08for the camera trap that I set on the stream up the mountain here. And basically the news is that
00:16there's not really very much news at all. I've had to take down the trap, remove it,
00:23because there's been an outbreak here in this part of the country of African swine flu and they
00:32are afraid that the wild boar population up the mountain here is also affected. So they have
00:40asked us not to be coming up here too much so that we can avoid the risk of spreading the
00:47virus.
00:48So that being the case I took it down. In the event it only recorded a little mouse
00:55after being out for five days. The two trail cams that I had set up here at the waterfall,
01:01basically if you see behind me there's a fallen tree over the waterfall and I was curious to know
01:08if anything was using that to go between the upper and lower part of the forest here. In the event
01:19there was a, I didn't catch it actually using the fallen tree, but there was what I believe to be
01:27a
01:27little bit of stone martin, beach martin running around the back there. And then the second trail cam I
01:34set up overlooking this fallen branch here. And amazingly enough it caught what I believe is a
01:45goshawk, but I'm happy to be corrected by any of you out there that might be better at recognizing birds
01:52than I.
01:55I think it was a female goshawk and in the, I think I've got three clips of it and you
02:03can hear
02:03it calling to its partner and you briefly catch a glimpse of the partner as well as it flies through
02:11the frame. So that was nice, but unfortunately I won't be able to set up a camera trap to try
02:17and
02:17record it. I'm probably going to be away for most of August so I won't be putting any, doing any
02:25camera
02:26trapping during this time. So I'll be back again in the autumn for more camera trapping and hopefully I
02:37shall see you all then. Thanks so much for following along. I really do appreciate it and I shall see
02:44you all again soon. Bye for now.
