00:00Chad Tracy's not ruining the Red Sox.
00:02As a matter of fact, he's doing the opposite.
00:04Once he got there, as a matter of fact, his record with this team
00:07has become one of the best records in baseball ever since he showed up.
00:10And now there's an article that Chris Cotillo talked to some people
00:14saying that it is not a guarantee that he is going to be the manager next season.
00:18They said that it's more likely than not,
00:20but they name a bunch of people that apparently are on the Red Sox's radar,
00:24which is so freaking stupid.
00:25I don't know what more this guy can do.
00:27Even if they lose in the postseason, I think that he is for what he was thrown into
00:32and just the amount of crap he's had to deal with,
00:36with injuries and star players out and being historically bad
00:40and to turn it around this way, I think he's already earned it.
00:43But Ted made a good point.
00:44Ted's like, okay, well, do we think the players believe that about Chad Tracy?
00:48What do they think?
00:49Well, we actually asked Caleb Durbin and Anthony Siegler at the Jimmy Fun Telethon,
00:55and I seem to think that this was an endorsement.
00:59I guess you guys didn't really think it was as strong as I believed,
01:02so I wanted to hear it again.
01:04So here it is, us talking to Caleb Durbin, Anthony Siegler, and metal,
01:08and shredding.
01:09That was actually Siegler right there on his BC Rich Warlock.
01:14He took from the dude from Megadeth.
01:17I used to have one of those.
01:19Here is what he had to say.
01:21Let's listen to what they both had to say about Chad Tracy.
01:24That should be gone.
01:25From Chad Tracy's title.
01:27I mean, I think everybody would love it for it to be just like away from where it is now.
01:35I mean, I think he's done a great job with us.
01:39He knows what we need to do.
01:41He knows how our bodies feel consistently, I feel like.
01:45And so for him to adjust schedules and just being able to talk to us,
01:50slow everybody down is huge.
01:52I mean, so I think it would be an honor for him just to take that away
01:58and just give him that manager title.
02:03But, I mean, he's done a great job.
02:05I love him.
02:06I think I can speak for everybody in that clubhouse that he's done a wonderful job of handling the situation
02:13and hasn't made it too big.
02:16And he's just helping us just, like, really bring us together and just win.
02:20And I don't know how much bigger of an endorsement you can have than that right there.
02:25It's not really a big surprise that the young guys, especially Anthony Siegler, would love Chad Tracy.
02:30You know, he managed him, got a taste of him in AAA, and he gave him a shot.
02:33Cora probably wouldn't have played him or never called him up.
02:35I think the more important, not to say that's not sincere, and I think it is a good clip, Rich,
02:40but I just think the bigger deal are the veterans, and what do we have on a record from Wilson
02:45Contreras
02:46from a couple weeks ago?
02:46He's a nice guy.
02:48And I do think this texter is right, that the Red Sox front office, 7-7-4 texter,
02:52is waiting for a collapse in the playoffs so they can fault Tracy and bring in somebody else.
02:56There is a little bit of that keep a fall guy in your back pocket thing going on here, potentially.
03:01Well, then that would be a huge mistake.
03:03That would be a massive mistake if they did that,
03:06because Chad Tracy has shown you that he is a good manager already.
03:10That would be – because then you let this guy go and he goes somewhere else.
03:13I don't know, Ted.
03:14I mean, that seems to me like that is – now, I understand the whole fact of them wanting a
03:20human shield,
03:21because, I mean, that's what these guys do.
03:23That's what front offices do.
03:24They always want someone else to take the bullets.
03:26And if that's their case, that's no way to run a team, Ted.
03:29I mean, I think that that's a bad philosophy to have for a front office.
03:33Yeah, I just go back to when Chad Tracy was named interim manager.
03:37I read a story in which Craig Breslow literally had met the guy once.
03:42Like, it wasn't like this hand-picked kind of, you know, did all this deep dive
03:49and they got the guy they wanted.
03:51They kind of just needed to put somebody in there to keep the seat warm
03:54because they just fired Alex Kors.
03:55So, you know, maybe he's – all of a sudden he's – again, you know,
03:59and he didn't come in and, like, set the world on fire.
04:03I mean, it took about five weeks for –
04:04Five weeks is insanely fast.
04:06I keep hearing this.
04:07It's only five weeks.
04:08Dude, if you could say you could take a team from the worst team in the world,
04:11like the worst team historically, to one of the best teams in five weeks,
04:15dude, you'd go, like, six to midnight immediately if you were, like, the owner of a team.
04:20I just think baseball has – the managers has the least amount of importance
04:23of all the coaches in the other sports they do.
04:25I just think that's the way it is.
04:28And I'd like to see how he does in the playoffs before I make a decision.
04:31Remember the real world, Rich?
04:32You had to wait until those people stopped being polite and started getting real.
04:35You've got to wait and see until adversity hits how they get along.
04:38Adversity has been his entire career as the Red Sox interim manager.
04:43Like, from the moment he showed up, it was adversity.
04:45At the start, there was no pressure because they stunk.
04:47They were historically bad.
04:50It wasn't his fault.
04:51Right, but he had to deal with it.
04:53Nobody was expecting him to come in and, like, change everything.
04:55Like, it wasn't like there was this pressure for him to kind of –
04:58it was just like, can you keep your hands on 10-2
05:00and just keep this thing from going off the rails?
05:03And by the way, do you know how tough it's got to be to enter a locker room
05:07where you are playing in a city as demanding as Boston
05:10and for you to be historically bad
05:12and for you to be able to keep those guys' head in the game enough
05:15to be able to pull it out of their butt and play the way that they did?
05:18That's not easy.
05:19And that's the job of a manager, to keep your team focused
05:21and not running your mouth and sniping against each other.
05:24And he did that.
05:25I'd have no problem, and I don't think anybody would,
05:27if you just said, he's our manager, we're giving him a one-year contract
05:30through next season, and we're giving him a raise.
05:32Like, what's the problem with that?
05:33Because you could still fire that guy if he screws up.
05:35There's a happy medium, isn't there?
05:37You can go from interim and not getting a dime more
05:40and making 100K or whatever he's getting
05:41to giving him a little bit of a bump and some support
05:44based on what he's done so far.
05:45I mean, I think the manager thing, the title,
05:48doesn't matter as much as the report
05:50that they're still looking at other guys.
05:52Like, that's insane.
05:54Like, you're really honestly, at the end of the season,
05:56going to bring in Tori Lovullo?
05:58Really?
05:59I like Tori Lovullo.
06:14You're telling me that you can guarantee that
06:16with all these other guys?
06:17That Rocco Baldelli all of a sudden
06:18is going to be the playoff master?
06:20We don't know that.
06:21All we know is what we've seen from this guy,
06:23and it's good enough.
06:24The players love him.
06:25They perform for him.
06:26They play their ass off.
06:27And he has kept the locker room from imploding
06:30when they were at their worst.
06:32Not only not, it kept him from imploding,
06:33it kept him thriving.
06:35I don't know.
06:36I just think it's so unbelievably stupid
06:39if they're actually looking at other managers right now
06:41and letting it leak out
06:43that they're looking at other managers.
06:44Or having them coach the AAA team
06:45during the lockout,
06:46which is, you can't eliminate
06:49that's possibly what's happening.
06:50That is funny.
06:51Right.
06:52That's a dick move.
06:53Sign the guy.
06:53It's kind of a dick move, yeah.
06:54It is kind of a dick move.
