00:04Cáceres building in La Guayra State to remove excessive debris and facilitate
00:08the ongoing recovery of bodies from the partially collapsed structure. Our
00:11correspondent, Denon Santos, has the details.
00:19Hello, studios, exactly coming to you from La Guayra. Today we are accompanying the
00:24process of the rescue works that are underway that continue after the first
00:30demolition, the first controlled demolition to take place here in La Guayra as
00:35part of the work that is underway to continue recovering the bodies of loved
00:41ones that are buried under the debris following the twin earthquakes of June 24th.
00:45This controlled demolition, the first one to take place, took place in Catia La Mar,
00:51particularly in Playa Grande, Tower C of the Luisa Cáceres complex. It was a
00:56building that had remained standing but its initial floors had collapsed so there
01:02were sadly victims buried under the debris that the family members and the
01:07rescuers, the different entities, organizations that were working on site
01:12could not reach them because of the imminent risk that this building that was
01:18standing but with a dangerous inclination to one of these sites, it posed an imminent
01:25risk to everyone on site. That is why after the alert made by family members, by the
01:32volunteers, engineers, organizations on site, this alert was passed on to the
01:39organizations in charge of the demolition, the government entities in a
01:43process of dialogue with the people on site, with the family members to carry on
01:49this controlled demolition. It took place yesterday and today what we saw were
01:55ongoing works of recovery. All the machinery is deployed and different entities
02:01from the fire squad were present, from the public works ministry, from the Bolivarian
02:09National Armed Forces as well, all taking part together with volunteers, rescuers and
02:14the family members in charge of continuing those operations. The Minister of
02:20Interior Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, also referred to this first controlled
02:24demolition that took place in Katia La Mar, explaining that the process was was
02:30carried out in conversation and dialogue with the families present, those
02:36affected and with one objective and that is to continue the work. It is not a phase
02:41that ends the stage of recovery, but one that allows for it to continue. That is
02:48what is happening right now and of course as this happened yesterday, there are other
02:54buildings that are being analyzed in order to to lower any imminent risk in terms of
03:02the standing structures so that the teams that are deployed across the territory can
03:07continue working in their removal of debris and the searching of the bodies
03:13underneath. That is what is happening right now in La Guayra. We'll have more
