16:00But this will be a guy that we'll be talking about in a year, possibly in the same position his
16:05teammate is, running for a championship.
16:07That's certainly the long-term goal for this Kawasaki team.
16:11Look at this.

16:15Kitchen has cut the gap to Davies.
16:18From third, but the second place, man, Davies has cut the gap to the leader, Hymas.
16:22And there's still plenty of time with 13 minutes and two laps to go.

16:34I think he's thinking all of it, but he understands that 47 is probably not too happy after that first
16:39Moto, who's just ran his fastest lap time of the race, that last lap.
16:43So he's got to push.
16:44And then if he makes that pass, Cole Davies that is, he would end up winning overall.
16:49Right now it goes to Chance Hymas.
16:51I think right now we're going to figure out in these next couple laps who has the speed and what
16:56is his mindset moving forward.
16:58Look at Kitchen digging deep.
17:00This is a big moment for him.

17:02He's closing this thing down.
17:04He has turned in a few heater laps the last two laps.
17:07This lap before was his best lap of the race.
17:09And what they're doing is they're both pushing and closing down that lead to Hymas.
17:13I think Kitchen picked up his pace, which in turn forced some urgency on to Cole Davies.
17:18And he has pushed now into Chance Hymas.
17:20There's a real shot.
17:21We have a three-way battle for the lead in the next two laps here.

17:26I mean, the math is simple for Levi.
17:27He knows exactly what he has to do.

17:31And then hopefully Chance Hymas finished in between him and Cole Davies.

26:59because Levi clearly has the speed.
27:01He's caught you.
27:01Now the pressure's on.
27:03Can the number 29 HRC Honda the red bike hold on to Kawasaki
27:08of Levi Kitchen.
27:10It'd be Hymes' first win of the year.
27:12And if he does that, he'd be the seventh different winner
27:15in 10 rounds of 250 racing in motocross this year.
27:18That would be the all-time record for most winners in a season.
27:23And Hymes is responding.
27:26Yeah, I love what I've seen from Chance Hymes.
27:28I mean, at this point, we talked about the overall in this pass, you know,
27:32so if he can hang on, pressure is going to cash this check.
27:36If he's going to hang on and deal with it, of course,
27:38Levi Kitchen needs that as well.
27:40He needs some three points.
27:50Oh, these ruts are so treacherous to see how many bikes we've seen down
27:53or stuck on the side of the track while these two continue to push the pace.
27:59Yeah, so I think what's happening right here,
28:01you saw Levi make that top-up to Chance.
28:04So what he's doing right now, he wants to stay out of the ruts,
28:07but at Levi, you understand you've got the speed.
28:10You've got him.
28:10You're able to come catch him.
28:12You've got two and a half minutes left or two minutes left.
28:15So he's starting to figure out where I'm going to pass this guy at.
28:18So you're going to see him drop back, kind of take a breath, regroup,
28:21and then attack the number 29, Chance Hymes.
28:24Just because he knows he's got speed, he can close up on him.
28:27But at the same time, you've got to give Chance credit
28:30for being where Levi wants and fighting this thing towards the end.
28:33Yeah, you mentioned when you're the lead rider,
28:35you also tend to know where some of the passing areas are.
28:38So Hymes is going to hustle there as well.
28:40Yeah, so there was at some point in this race
28:41that Chance was trying to keep Levi at a distance.
28:44Once he realized that that wasn't going to happen,
28:46you almost kind of let the guy catch you
28:48because you understand he's coming.
28:50So let me save a little energy and understand
28:52and I'm going to be here to fight this thing towards the end.
28:54So what Chance is doing,
28:56there's only certain parts of this racetrack that's easier to pass
28:58or you can make passes, go fast there,
29:01relax in the other part because you know this guy won't be able to pass you.
29:05That's what you're seeing from the Chance Hymes.
29:11There's the mechanic.
29:14Tommy Harris for Hymes trying to get his rider his first win of 2026.
29:21As for Kitchen, this would be the difference between being down 14 points on Davies
29:26going into the finale or 11.
29:31And that is a big difference late in the year like this.
29:34Hymes riding well under pressure.
29:36Yeah, going back to my point,
29:38you can see now Chance is starting to stretch it out.
29:41Like they picked up the pace.
29:42Now I believe Chance was relaxing.
29:44They understand that Levi was coming.
29:46And so for Levi, what he's got to do,
29:48when you get to these tracks that are harder to pass,
29:50you can't waste opportunities.
29:52So you can't show Chance where you might go to do it.
29:55So you're going to have to sit back and get it and attack him.
29:58So make sure you can make that pass
30:00because you can show him on a guy a track that's hard to pass.
30:03We're running out of these opportunities
30:04and that's what Levi's trying to do.
30:06Chance gets around that lap rider.
30:07Great move by him.
30:11Two and a half laps to go.
30:13Hymes, as you can see, would win the overall today
30:16if he holds off for this moto win.
30:18As for Kitchen, a great salvage job for second in this race,
30:21getting around more traffic, having problems.
30:24This is what it looked like earlier today.
30:25First of all, the track condition is totally different.
30:29Massive rain this morning.
30:30The track is muddy.
30:33And Kitchen, it looked like he had the perfect start off the gate.
30:37But it actually turned out to be a little bit too good.
30:40He goes up on the grass on the right side of the screen
30:43and he was actually penalized four positions for that.
30:46The grass a little bit more firm in the mud.
30:49Got him to the lead.
30:51And then while leading on lap one ahead of Hymes, he goes down.
30:53Yeah, costly for him.
30:55And he said when we started his show, there was one point separating these two
30:59and they were one and two up there.
31:00So for him, he goes down.
31:02And this is a rider determination.
31:04He did quit.
31:05He kept fighting.
31:06You never know.
31:06Those points that he got might loom large in this championship
31:11if he goes on and somehow wins it, Will.
31:14James, we know Levi Kitchen is a fighter.
31:17We've seen it throughout his whole career.
31:19But it was fascinating talking to him earlier on in the season.
31:22His good friend, Ken Rockson, who for those who watched the Supercross battle earlier in the year
31:28just come down from 31 points, Ken Rockson behind, to winning that title.
31:33Good friend of his.
31:34Levi told me, I'm going to channel that.
31:37I'm listening to Ken.
31:39If he can get that done through just pure self-belief, he's like, I can get this title done too.
31:45So interesting to think that he's leaning on his veteran rider friend there to just try and get this done.
31:52And we've seen from the 450s anything can happen.
31:54And I know right now Levi is not giving up.
31:57He certainly is not willing.
31:59Back within sight of Hymes with two laps to go.
32:05Yeah, you can really see Levi charging.
32:07And it also shows you who kind of has the pace.
32:10I think Chance just sitting back and like, I'm going to try to push.
32:14Levi closes that gap up.
32:16Just make sure I go past where I think he might go to pass.
32:20Chance is a smart rider.
32:22He's won these races before.

32:41And the 3-7 would be enough for him to get on the overall podium.

32:47Because Kitchen is not in contention for it because of the bad first moto.
32:50Kitchen, though, the big triple jump uphill.
32:53Going to put in one last attack on Hymes.
32:56He made a mistake in that corner, lost a little bit of time.
32:59Chance wasn't able to hit that uphill triple.
33:01And you saw the trickle effect, the momentum that Levi was able to catch.
33:04So now you get to crunch time because you got one lap essentially to get it done.
33:10So no point in saving the moves.
33:12You're going to have to go in there, possibly take a chance and move him out the way.
33:17It's a chance worth taking for Kitchen.

34:16Levi Kitchen, you're going to have to throw everything out on three points.

35:27which from a medical perspective shouldn't have been that bad.
35:29It was the first time he was ever riding, worried about getting hurt.
35:32It has taken a lot of work to block that out, to rebuild himself physically and mentally.
35:37And he has done it.
35:39Chance Hymes, 2-1 scores, takes the Bucks Creek National.
35:44Seven different winners this year.
35:46That is an all-time record for parity in this 250 class.
35:50Seven winners in ten rounds.
35:53Kitchen will finish second in the moto.
35:55But Cole Davies, in many ways, the real winner today.
35:59The 18-year-old New Zealand native.
36:02He's going to finish second.
36:04But he will outscore Levi Kitchen overall.
36:07His kitchen had the bad first moto.
36:10And he will retake the points lead going into the finale.
36:13He was one point down when the day began.
36:16He will have the red plate of the leader heading into next weekend's race in Indy.
36:20But Chance Hymes, you see the huge exhale and the smile.
36:26He has won the day in Maryland.
36:29That's how he got it done.
