00:00A lot of riders with a lot to gain right now.
00:02Reds are up.
00:04Gates down.
00:06And Kitchens is going to use the line on the inside.
00:08He tried to get up on the grass.
00:10And it's going to work.
00:12The 47 has his first whole shot of the year.
00:14And guess who's in second.
00:16We got Cole Davies.
00:171 and 2 in the points.
00:19That's exactly what we wanted.
00:20That's what you talk about your championship contender.
00:23They get out there and make it happen.
00:24Now they didn't have a parade lap,
00:26so they don't really know how this track is going to be.
00:28It's a lot different than what they were earlier.
00:30But nonetheless, it is.
00:32Here you go.
00:33And what did I just say in the keys to the moment?
00:35You want it?
00:36Well, go get it.
00:36Cole Davies and Levi Kitchen, they're trying to get it.
00:39Long race to go.
00:40But what can you say about Kitchen,
00:42who has struggled with starts this year?
00:43They've gotten better.
00:44But he has not been close to a whole shot until right now
00:47when he needed it most.
00:49Clutch for the 47.
00:50And now, Hymas has made the move on Davies.
00:53Yeah, good start by chance.
00:55It looks like he's trying to make the move on Levi.
00:57Now what you're going to see is these guys execute that start,
01:01and then they'll probably try to calm down.
01:03Maybe everybody outside of Chance Hymas,
01:04he wants to get up front as Levi almost goes over to handlebars right there.
01:08But that's where I was going back to, Jason,
01:10that they haven't done a parade lap,
01:11so they don't really know they're testing it out as they go.
01:14And I've got to imagine there's so much risk in it.
01:17If Kitchen were to go down right now,
01:18it would ruin all the hard work.
01:19And it just happened.
01:22Unbelievable.
01:23How quickly can he get up the field?
01:25Oh, no.
01:25He dropped the bike a second time.
01:28Oh, man.
01:29Bummer for Levi.
01:30But you can see how spread out the field is.
01:32I mean, he's probably going to get inside the top 20,
01:35but that is costly.
01:37And going back to my point,
01:38they haven't had a parade lap,
01:39so he wouldn't know that.
01:40Yeah.
01:41Oh, you could see multiple times in that first lap,
01:43and I'm sure he was not alone
01:44with just hitting soft spots
01:46that the riders would not be aware of.
01:48Oh, and Landon Gibson just got it as well.
01:51So, again, Kitchen's not alone in this,
01:53but this was the most costly.
01:55Yeah, watch this.
01:56He starts, he goes to lean back.
01:58It looks like he's just starting to lose the front
02:00as Cole Davies slows down.
02:02But, man, Eva, this is the opportunity you needed.
02:05You needed a good start.
02:06Makes a small mistake.
02:07Comes up a little short on this.
02:09No big deal.
02:10He's leaning back.
02:10It just loses the front end
02:12because they put a little bit of,
02:13they worked on the racetrack there.
02:16Oh, man, that's tough for Levi Kitchen.
02:18Oh, man, we'll get a, it's 17th.
02:20He's in 17th right now.
02:22Chance Hymas to the lead.
02:23He has proven to be a mudder.
02:25Won a Supercross in these conditions last year, JT.
02:29Yeah, that's exactly where I was going to go.
02:31Listen, he hails from Pocatello, Idaho.
02:34Idaho spring and fall, a lot of wet weather,
02:36a lot of mud riding,
02:37and he used to race a lot of off-road races as well.
02:40So, inclement conditions right up his alley.
02:43And exactly like you said, Jason Foxborough,
02:452025 was his breakthrough main event win
02:47in conditions not so different than this.
02:50And you can see him going for the throat.
02:52Immediately made the move on Davies,
02:54was putting pressure on Kitchen.
02:56And by the way,
02:57if someone new like Hymas were to win today,
03:00Hymas has not won this year,
03:02he would make seven different overall winners
03:05in this season,
03:05which would be a record for the class.
03:09Yeah, this class is wild.
03:11And as I was saying, like the opening laps,
03:14you want to get a good start.
03:15But you can see how different
03:16Chance is riding right now.
03:17He's very aggressive.
03:18Now he's starting to kind of chill it out,
03:20let these lines form.
03:21And this track's only to get more difficult.
03:24As these brunt's getting a little bit deeper,
03:26this guy's going to start burying the motorcycle.
03:27So the real task starts now.
03:30Let's go to Will.
03:32Just looking at Chance Hymas,
03:34I know it's early days in this moto right now out front.
03:37And I'm going right back to our conversation
03:38that I had with him today,
03:40where he's like,
03:41oh, would I like to get a moto win
03:43in these last two rounds?
03:45It's something...
03:46Oh, there's something.
03:48There's something.
03:49He's tripled up and just roosted our drone.
03:51I feel like I caused that.
03:53I feel like I caused that.
03:54He just...
03:55The opportunity was there today
03:57with the weather.
03:57It still is.
03:58But yeah, for Chance, guys,
04:00he wants this so badly with four to go.
04:02But it's kind of like he's in that place, James.
04:04We've talked about with Chance Hymas
04:05where he's trying to keep everything relaxed.
04:07He's not trying to force anything.
04:09But he's just talking to me about
04:10what a tough balance that is
04:11to want it so much
04:12but still have to put yourself in that place.
04:15Yeah, well, I think for him,
04:16he's got a great group of teammates around him.
04:19Jet Lawrence, Hunter Lawrence,
04:20you know, two of the best ones in the world.
04:22So he's got a lot of help there.
04:24But you've got to thank Lars and Honda
04:26and those guys kind of allowing Chance
04:28to be able to do that.
04:29He's doing a great job,
04:30but I know he wants more
04:31and he will eventually.
04:32And Davies wants it bad.
04:34He's really ramped it up.
04:35Hymas got around him
04:36and was pulling a gap.
04:37Next time around,
04:38Davies able to make the move.
04:40It looks like Chance goes to the inside
04:42and, or excuse me,
04:43Cole goes to the inside,
04:44makes that pass.
04:46Like I said earlier,
04:47these guys going to get out here,
04:48these opening laps,
04:49they're wide open,
04:50then they're going to calm things down.
04:51But Kareem brought us to the top,
04:54excuse me,
04:55you got Cole Davies out front
04:57with almost three-second lead already.
04:59Kitchin is 12.
05:00Well, really unlocked that pass
05:01is that Davies went for the triple uphill.
05:05And how much do you think Davies
05:06just almost sat the first lap out,
05:09used that as his sight lap?
05:10He got a lot faster on lap two.
05:12Well, I think with Levi being out front
05:14and then Chance passing him,
05:15he obviously wanted to sit back
05:17because he was worried
05:18about the track conditions.
05:19But you also don't want to be
05:20too close to a guy.
05:21So I think he sat back
05:22as long as he didn't have
05:23that pressure behind him.
05:24And then once he saw Levi go down,
05:26you know,
05:27now he kind of understands,
05:28calm down,
05:29let's get this track going,
05:30this race.
05:32Crowd cheering Davies
05:33on the top of the hill here.
05:35Got Landon, Gordon third,
05:36Katie Meneer fourth,
05:38Lux Turner fifth.
05:40Bomer, Mumford, Dudney,
05:42Brown, and Thrasher top ten.
05:43Then Kitchin in 11th.
05:45Long way to go, though.
05:47So far, exactly the other 37 wanted it.
05:49There is Kitchin in the bottom box
05:51trying to move into the top ten.
05:53He's got to get around Thrasher and Brown.
05:55Yeah, Levi's got to just continue moving.
05:57He's actually making up some good time.
05:59And I talked about this earlier
06:01on Race Day Live
06:01because of how this track spread out
06:03with the mud that, hey,
06:05you're going to have a huge separation
06:07between like the first to fifth
06:08in these opening laps
06:09compared to other races.
06:10So when Levi went down,
06:12he didn't lose too many positions
06:13because the gap group
06:15has already kind of spread out.
06:16So here he goes.
06:18As you can see,
06:18guys making mistakes.
06:19It's just got to be careful
06:20not to get caught up in this.
06:23Well, people love to ride Bugs Creek,
06:24but James, it's always been said
06:26it's one of the tougher tracks
06:27to make passes on
06:28and then these conditions
06:29even tougher.
06:30Kitchen trying everything he's got.
06:31JT.
06:32Yeah, Kitchen moves through the field.
06:33But, you know,
06:34just thinking about Cole Davies
06:35overall in 2026,
06:36it's really been a season
06:38of answering questions.
06:39You know, first,
06:40he goes out and proves
06:41he can be the guy
06:42winning that
06:42Monch City Supercross championship.
06:44Then you come into motocross
06:45and everybody's asking,
06:46can he, well,
06:46can he do it in motocross?
06:47We haven't really seen it yet.
06:49Well, here he is
06:50answering those questions.
06:51And the final one I had
06:52was implement conditions
06:53and throw a hurt ball out of
06:55how will he respond?
06:56Yet here he is again
06:57getting a good start
06:58and riding away
06:59with his first moto wheel.
07:01And JT,
07:02the questions are there
07:03because we haven't seen it.
07:05When we look back to last year,
07:06it was only this moto
07:08and last weekend's
07:09in Unidale
07:10that he even did.
07:11So we don't have anything
07:13to look at.
07:13It's not that we're saying
07:13he's not a good mud rider
07:15or he's not a good motocross rider.
07:17It's just that we haven't seen it yet
07:18on a 250.
07:19And talking to his dad
07:20this morning,
07:21he's like,
07:21well,
07:21even mud skills.
07:22He grew up in New Zealand.
07:24Yes,
07:24he's ridden a lot in the mud.
07:26But on a 250,
07:28no,
07:28on 85,
07:29yes,
07:30on a 250,
07:30no.
07:31So every time we see him
07:32answering those questions,
07:34JT,
07:34we're also seeing him
07:35in the process
07:36of learning something new.
07:37And now with a five
07:38and a half second gap
07:39of the lead.
07:41Quick learner,
07:42no doubt,
07:43Cole Davies.
07:43He figured out
07:44even this is the difference
07:45in the first and second
07:46laps out here
07:47where he lost positions
07:48and gained them back.
07:49Here is Kitchen
07:50still working.
07:51He's made it around
07:52Brown and Thrasher
07:54now looking to pass
07:55Caden Dudley.
07:56Yeah,
07:57another teammate
07:57to Cole Davies.
07:59But again,
08:00Levi's actually
08:00doing really good
08:02as he's trying to make
08:03pass.
08:03He's got to worry
08:03about somebody else
08:04coming up in between
08:05you trying to make
08:06that pass.
08:07But very hard conditions
08:08to do it
08:09as you see him
08:10slipping and sliding.
08:11But here,
08:11we're going to go back
08:12to the crash.
08:13We see him lean back,
08:14lose the front end.
08:15Kind of a hard hit
08:16right there.
08:16But fortunately for him,
08:18he's able to pick up.
08:19Now watch this.
08:20He goes off track.
08:21AMA is going to review
08:21this because he did
08:22get off the track.
08:23And then they're
08:24going to review
08:24how fast did he go
08:26off to the side
08:27because that can
08:28be a penalty.
08:30I'm not the referee,
08:31but it didn't look
08:32like he gained
08:32any positions
08:33while he was off track.
08:34But it is being reviewed.
08:35He's on the gas right now.
08:36Look at him trying
08:37to square up on Dundee.
08:38It almost worked.
08:39Yeah,
08:39I think he was trying
08:40to stay on the racetrack
08:41as he almost goes down.
08:43I'm giving credit.
08:44Yeah,
08:44no,
08:44why not give it to you?
08:46But probably a scary
08:47position to be in
08:48for Levi a little bit
08:49because you got,
08:49you know,
08:50Pierce Brown
08:50and not saying
08:51any of these riders
08:52do anything,
08:52but that is Cole Davies'
08:54teammate.
08:54So as you're trying
08:55to pass another teammate,
08:56you have another one
08:57behind you.
08:58Leave that door open.
08:59You might not need
09:01any invite to walk
09:02through that door
09:03as Levi tries
09:04to get through, JT.
09:05Yeah,
09:05James,
09:06and one of the things
09:06that we're going
09:07to talk about more
09:08in this moto
09:08and it's relevant
09:09for Caden Dundee
09:10is he doesn't have
09:10any goggles left.
09:11We see Levi Kitchen
09:12still okay in that department,
09:13but the longer this race
09:15goes on,
09:15there's so much
09:16loose and water
09:17being thrown off
09:18because the dirt
09:19is so loose
09:20and there's just so much
09:21from them fixing
09:22the racetrack.
09:23It's going to be
09:23a miracle if anybody
09:25has goggles up
09:25at the end of this thing.
09:26So for Dundee,
09:27he's trying to do
09:27everything he can
09:28to keep Kitchen
09:29behind him
09:29because if he doesn't
09:30and his Kitchen
09:31may go right by right here,
09:32and he's not going
09:33to be able to see
09:33in the next few corners
09:34right afterwards.
09:35Yeah, I agree with that.
09:36You can see the tear
09:37I was hanging off
09:37Levi's goggles,
09:39but did you notice
09:40the slight hesitation
09:41Levi had
09:42when he went to go
09:43make that pass?
09:43I think he felt
09:44like he had it,
09:45but for sure,
09:47he's aware
09:48of the situations
09:49that's going on,
09:50but nonetheless,
09:51continue fighting.
09:52All right,
09:53actually we have
09:53a correction here.
09:54The AMA is not
09:54reviewing Kitchen
09:55for the off track
09:56after the crash.
09:57They're reviewing
09:58the start
09:59where he gets up
10:00on this grass.
10:02See what's going on
10:04and...
10:04Uh-oh.
10:08Definitely inside
10:08the markers,
10:09I'm going to say that.
10:11Again,
10:11I'm not the referee.
10:13So that is under review,
10:15and I don't know
10:16what the precedent
10:17for penalty there
10:18would be.
10:19Look,
10:19if you're the 47,
10:20you can't think about
10:20anything like that
10:21right now.
10:21Oh,
10:22do I see tear-offs
10:24hanging?
10:25Is that one stray?
10:27Yeah,
10:27he's pulled...
10:27It seems like
10:28he still has them on.
10:29I saw those tear-offs
10:30as he was pulling
10:30on another one,
10:31but yeah,
10:32that start situation
10:32was a little difficult
10:34because basically
10:35he was off the track.
10:36He ran off the track
10:37on an accident
10:38in the way that will,
10:39but we'll find out.
10:40AMA will do a great job
10:41at figuring it out
10:42and we'll see what happens,
10:43but like you said,
10:44now he's doing
10:45a little wipe.
10:46So as JT was saying,
10:48Dutton didn't have goggles.
10:49I'm starting to see
10:50Levi Kitchen
10:51use his hands to wipe,
10:52and that's going to be
10:52a tough break here.
10:54Oh, no.
10:54So it's happening
10:55he's out of tear-offs?
10:56Yeah,
10:56it looks like he...
10:57Start seeing that.
10:57Yeah,
10:58it looks like he might have
10:58pulled and then
10:59obviously pulled all of them,
11:01but because of this mud,
11:03it's sticky.
11:04So you only get
11:04a couple times
11:05where you can wipe
11:06before you can't even see him
11:08and he's pulling them off.
11:09JT.
11:10I'm just going to,
11:11I'm going to go back
11:11to one of the rounds
11:12from Supercross.
11:13We talked about this
11:14and the difference
11:15between roll-offs
11:16and tear-offs
11:17and why I'm such a fan
11:18of roll-offs
11:19in this situation.
11:19It basically comes down to
11:20you can have up to
11:22maybe 28 tear-offs.
11:23That's the maximum
11:24you're going to be able
11:24to see through.
11:25But roll-offs,
11:26that different type
11:27of goggle system
11:27where it's almost
11:28endless film.
11:29You have 200 individual poles
11:32on a set of roll-offs.
11:33And I don't,
11:34you know,
11:34I know that younger generation,
11:35they white tear-offs,
11:37they grew up with them,
11:37but I think in conditions
11:38like this,
11:39you end up paying
11:40too big of a penalty
11:41if you do run out of tear-offs.
11:42We may see Levi Kitchen
11:43dealing with that right here.
11:44Yeah,
11:44he's under fire now
11:45from DeFrancisco
11:46probably because of the vision.
11:48Instead of attacking Dutney,
11:50he might lose a spot here.
11:52And there goes Rider-D.
11:55Desperate times now
11:56for the 47.
11:56This is not what he wanted.
11:58Yeah,
11:58that outside line
11:58was working earlier,
11:59but he just got a little too,
12:01and it looked like
12:01he might have pointed
12:03to his goggles
12:04or something there.
12:05At this point,
12:06it really doesn't matter.
12:07You got to keep going
12:09and sacrificing.
12:10Some guys will pull in,
12:11but Levi being one point,
12:13there you go.
12:13He's done.
12:14Tossing the goggles.
12:1618 minutes
12:18and two laps left
12:19in this moto.
12:22Yeah,
12:22that's going to be
12:23a hard situation
12:24because his track is slow,
12:25and because of this mud,
12:27he's actually getting roosted
12:28by his own bike.
12:29The front tire,
12:30the mud comes off kicks,
12:31and you can see
12:32how sticky it is.
12:33He's probably going to have
12:34to deal with that
12:35the whole race.
12:36Oh, man.
12:36Now,
12:36explain the roll-off
12:37versus tear-off situation.
12:38Yes,
12:38the roll-offs,
12:39the film across the goggles,
12:41there are more pulls.
12:42That sounds like
12:42the easy choice,
12:43but explain why
12:44some riders
12:44don't necessarily
12:45want to run that.
12:46Well,
12:46it basically cuts
12:47your vision in half,
12:48maybe even more
12:49when you run the roll-offs,
12:51and so when you have that,
12:53it's like putting glasses
12:54on inside.
12:55It shrinks everything down.
12:56You really can't see
12:57as good for me,
12:59and I felt like
13:00when I had them on,
13:01it just made me tight.
13:02I couldn't see the vision.
13:04I couldn't feel
13:04the other riders around me,
13:05so I think it's more
13:06of a feel thing
13:07because of your vision,
13:08and clearly,
13:10going at these speeds,
13:11you want every opportunity
13:12to be able to see,
13:13but as JT said,
13:14when you run out of tear-offs,
13:16you have this situation
13:17you have,
13:17so it is a 50-50.
13:20Levi did what he needed to do.
13:21He executed the start,
13:23just didn't finish
13:24that first lap off.
13:26Davies has pulled it
13:27to five and a half seconds.
13:28Kitchen is in 10th.
13:30Going to try to hang
13:31with Di Francesco here.
13:33Made the move on him.
13:35Gordon, third.
13:36Mumford, fourth.
13:37Veneer, fifth.
13:38JT.
13:39Well, just thinking
13:40through this equation
13:41right now,
13:42and certainly,
13:42this is not going
13:43to be easy moving forward,
13:45and especially
13:45if he tries to go back
13:46after Ryder being Caden Dudney,
13:47he's going to get roosted
13:49in the eyes
13:49and not be able
13:50to see immediately.
13:51So then you start to think,
13:52well, what does the math
13:53look like if he pulls
13:54into the mechanics area
13:55to get new goggles?
13:56Can he make up enough time
13:58once he has clear vision again
14:00to offset the time
14:01he would lose
14:02by going to the mechanics area?
14:03I'm sure it's something
14:04he's thought about right now.
14:05It's going to be
14:05an interesting one
14:06to see how it plays out,
14:07but so far,
14:08he's decided to not pull in.
14:09Well, he pointed last time
14:11around to the goggles
14:13when he went by
14:13the mechanics area.
14:14Here's the drop down.
14:15What will he do?
14:16Right hand turn after this
14:17is where he would stop
14:19if he's going to.
14:21Yeah, so what I think
14:22is going to happen is
14:23now he pulled his goggles off
14:24and I'm assuming
14:25he'll probably go another lap.
14:27So if he's going to pull in,
14:28it'd be this one.
14:29He wanted to let the guys know.
14:30So they're prepared
14:31because you really don't know.
14:32and I'm with JT.
14:34If he's not moving forward,
14:36then you probably have
14:37to take that chance and go.
14:38Obviously, he has a lot of speed,
14:40but at the same time,
14:41if you can't pass these guys
14:42because you can't see
14:43and be in the track
14:44that's one line,
14:45it's going to be difficult
14:46for the 47 to pull in.
14:50Yeah, I'm looking at
14:51some of the gaps.
14:52Just to give you an idea,
14:53say 15th place
14:54is 12 seconds behind him.
14:57He could go further back
14:58than that if he stops.
15:02starting to close back up
15:04to DeFrancisco
15:05halfway through.
15:06Reminder to stock up
15:07on Monster Energy
15:08at 7-11.
15:10He has caught DeFrancisco,
15:11but DeFrancisco
15:12has caught a pack.
15:13You've got Dundee,
15:15Bomer,
15:15Turner,
15:16Muneer,
15:17all in sight.
15:19Yeah, for Levi,
15:20it probably makes it
15:21even more difficult
15:22to pull in
15:23because you have
15:24these guys in here
15:25and, you know,
15:26the hard part now
15:27and it's easier for us
15:28sitting here
15:28talking about it.
15:29This is where
15:30if you're Levi Kitsch,
15:31you've got to think,
15:32man, I'm going to lose
15:33points lead at this moment,
15:34but I've still got
15:35three motos left.
15:36So how can I,
15:37you know,
15:38execute this race
15:39against the gap
15:39as many points
15:40as I can
15:41and not throw it away,
15:42but it's going to be
15:42harder to do, Will.
15:44I just checked
15:45with the team, James,
15:46and asked them
15:46and at this point
15:47their words were,
15:48I doubt that he'll be
15:49coming in for more goals.
15:50I don't know
15:50if that's a Levi decision
15:51or whether that's
15:52the team letting you know
15:53that nothing's written
15:54on the pit board
15:54right now.
15:55No one is coming
15:56to get the change now.
15:57All right, thank you.
15:58And DeFrancisco
15:59just showed him some lines
16:00to make moves.
16:02Ryder D moving forward,
16:03he got around that group
16:04or at least several of them.
16:06So DeFrancisco up to eighth,
16:08Dudley ninth,
16:10bike is steaming
16:11and Kitchen is right behind.
16:14Yeah, at the same time
16:15if you're Levi,
16:16this might be the best
16:17case scenario in a sense.
16:18You almost want
16:18these guys to spread out.
16:20You know, being at a track
16:21there's only one
16:21or two lines out here.
16:23If they're in a pack,
16:24then that means
16:24you really can't go anywhere.
16:25But if they start spreading out,
16:27you're not going to be able
16:28to get them in bunches,
16:29but you might be able
16:29to see and make that pass
16:31on one guy.
16:34Trying to get around Dudley
16:35for a couple laps here.
16:40Yeah, I mentioned
16:41a steam coming out
16:42at Dudley's bike.
16:43That's often the first sign
16:44and they told them
16:45to get off the clutch.
16:45That's often the first sign
16:46of the bike.
16:47It's getting hot.
16:48Now that water's
16:49turning to steam
16:49and the first thing
16:50they tell the rider is
16:52don't use the clutch.
16:53That's what creates that heat.
16:56But how hard is it
16:57to ride in these conditions,
16:59especially without using the clutch?
17:01Well, I mean,
17:02it's really hard.
17:03I mean, I was a guy
17:03that never really used
17:05a clutch, you know,
17:05for me and it was still,
17:07I used them quite a bit
17:08in the mud.
17:09More so.
17:09Yeah, so if you're a guy
17:10who revs it,
17:12I feel like the mechanics,
17:13they know their rider.
17:14If they know they run
17:15a clutch on the dry
17:16or use it a lot,
17:17then that's the first thing
17:17they do, get off the clutch.
17:19You know, the bike
17:19gets really hot.
17:20Especially in these situations
17:22when it slows down
17:23and even more,
17:24another corner here,
17:25the bike is buried,
17:26the RPM is dropped,
17:27they have to use the clutch
17:28to build the power back up.
17:29So easy to get a bike
17:30that's starting to smoke
17:31in this field.
17:34And that maybe
17:35could go to Kitchens' advantage.
17:37But the thing we mentioned
17:38on the show before,
17:40can Dudley even see that?
17:42He probably doesn't even know.
17:43Well, he ain't got no goggles.
17:45I don't know if he can see anything.
17:48Yeah, many times
17:50we've asked riders about,
17:51what was the deal
17:52with your bike steaming?
17:53And they didn't even realize that
17:54because you can see
17:55it's below where
17:56he could actually see it.
17:59It has stretched out now.
18:01As Davies takes a look back,
18:03he's maintaining
18:04a five and a half second gap.
18:08Man, what can you say
18:10about this kid?
18:11The maturity beyond his years.
18:13We mentioned the mindset.
18:14He had one moto
18:15at Millville a couple races ago
18:17where it did fall apart for him.
18:18But for the most part,
18:20early in his professional career,
18:22really the mental side
18:23of just doing what he has to do
18:25week in, week out,
18:25he's done it.
18:27Absolutely.
18:27And when you go back
18:28to that moto at Millville,
18:29ever since then,
18:31the last four motos,
18:32he's won three of them
18:33and got second in another one.
18:34So talk about rebounding
18:36and coming back.
18:37That's what this kid does.
18:38We've seen him do that
18:39in Supercross.
18:41And what's even more impressive
18:42is that it's a different scenario
18:44here in motocross.
18:46Will?
18:48Yeah.
18:48And they were talking
18:49about rebounding James.
18:50I'm going to talk about
18:51last week, too,
18:52in that first moto.
18:53He had a...
18:54Cole Davis had that big crash
18:56in the practice rounds there.
18:58And I got to speak to him
19:00and his dad and the team
19:01and ask just how bad that was.
19:03And I said,
19:03it was bad.
19:04It was bad enough
19:05that he was in a lot of pain
19:07going into Moto 1.
19:08And, you know,
19:09he doesn't make excuses.
19:10He's a panicked.
19:11He just won't say
19:12too many words about it.
19:13So he said,
19:14I'm fine when asked.
19:15But truthfully,
19:16it was a challenge.
19:17They said it was kind of
19:18really halfway through
19:19that first moto
19:20before he started
19:21to kind of peel back
19:21to himself
19:22and into the second one
19:23until he was kind of
19:24riding to his potential.
19:26Obviously, we saw him
19:26win that second one there.
19:28So a massive effect from him.
19:29But what they did tell me,
19:30Wilhan,
19:32his mentor,
19:33team manager over there,
19:33he said,
19:34that was the most
19:35impressive ride for me
19:36from Cole
19:37because to see him
19:38dig that deep,
19:39go back out there,
19:40mentally overcome
19:41the crash,
19:42physically go out there
19:43and push himself
19:44past that point,
19:45so that was huge.
19:47And so to him,
19:47I think that's just
19:48another lesson learned
19:49that we're talking here
19:50for this whole day
19:50with his training team.
19:53Yeah, absolutely.
19:54And going back
19:54to what I was saying
19:55before we started talking
19:57was just what's impressive
19:59about this motocross championship
20:00is exactly what Will said,
20:02like the adversity
20:02compared to Supercross.
20:04Supercross,
20:04it felt like he had
20:05that pretty much in control.
20:06He was ahead
20:07the whole time.
20:08this one,
20:08he's had some up and downs.
20:09He had that billable race,
20:11but even last weekend,
20:12what Will's talking
20:13about him overcoming,
20:14we talked about this
20:15on the broadcast,
20:16was that the way he crashed,
20:18it was a scary crash.
20:19So as a rider,
20:20that can happen anyway,
20:21and you can see him build
20:23throughout that first moto
20:24to eventually,
20:25in the second moto,
20:26look like a whole different dude,
20:27and that's Cole Davey.
20:28Resilient,
20:29and when you look
20:30at this championship,
20:31he's really going out there
20:32and taking advantage
20:33of everything right now.
20:36Although Hymas just ran
20:37the fastest lap of the race,
20:39track drying out,
20:40getting quicker,
20:40everyone's lap times
20:41are getting better,
20:42but Hymas most of all
20:43cut that gap a little bit.
20:45Kitchen is all the way
20:46back to 12th now.
20:48He's got a replay here.
20:52It's going to be some roost.
20:53Remember,
20:54he does not have the goggles,
20:55still battling Dudney.
20:58Let's see where he's
21:00looking here.
21:04Yeah,
21:05you can see him
21:05taking a look down.
21:07Oh,
21:07wow.
21:12Yeah,
21:13that was kind of weird.
21:14So he must have
21:15took something
21:15to the face,
21:16to the point
21:17to where he needed
21:17to pull over
21:18and kind of wipe it.
21:20But,
21:21hey,
21:21at this point,
21:23this is your opportunity.
21:25This is your championship.
21:25So you're going to
21:26continue to fight
21:27by every point.
21:28And to me,
21:29he looks like
21:30he's riding good.
21:31It's just unfortunate
21:32he doesn't have
21:32any goggles.
21:33And being on the track
21:35that's even more
21:36difficult to pass,
21:36I'm sure it's tough
21:37to Levi Kitchen immensely.
21:38But he's doing a good job.
21:41And there you see
21:41the championship points
21:42as they run right now
21:43would be Kitchen
21:45losing that red plate,
21:46that point lead
21:47to Davies.
21:48It would be a 14-point gap.
21:49And normally,
21:50that would seem
21:50like a big one.
21:51But it's just been
21:52so many swings
21:53in this series.
21:54Really never know
21:55what type of lead
21:56is safe.
21:57But Kitchen is definitely
21:58struggling right now
22:00trying to cling
22:01to anything.
22:0112th right now.
22:02And this is where
22:03your mechanic
22:04becomes very important.
22:06Like,
22:06his mechanic
22:06needs to tell him,
22:08hey,
22:08fight for every position.
22:10Even if it's 16th,
22:11the way this champion
22:12has just been,
22:13like,
22:13no point lead is safe.
22:15But I'm sure
22:16it's hard for Levi
22:17mentally because
22:17he was leading.
22:18He came out.
22:19He needed a whole shot.
22:20He got that.
22:20and then everything
22:21seems like it's
22:22falling apart.
22:22But him,
22:23you've got to try
22:24to remember that.
22:25And that's hard
22:25to do in the middle
22:26of the action.
22:27That's where you lean
22:27on your mechanic
22:28and your team
22:28to keep you rolling.
22:29He was under pressure
22:30from the 42 of Schwartz.
22:32Seeing Muneer here
22:33running solid in 5th.
22:36Mumford up ahead
22:37in 4th.
22:38And it's starting
22:39to tighten up
22:39just a little bit.
22:41Hymas had that fast lap,
22:43got it to about
22:434 seconds on Davies.
22:46Now it's back
22:47to where it was,
22:48about 5 and a half.
22:49Hymas has been
22:50really the next in line
22:52for these race wins
22:53lately.
22:54Bunch of podiums
22:55as of late.
22:59Oh, that is Connelly
23:01who had that great run
23:02going last week.
23:03The Quad Lock Honda.
23:04That's a lot of steam
23:06and that might be
23:06the end of the moto
23:07for the New Zealand native.
23:09Remember,
23:09he battled Kitchen
23:10right to the line
23:12at Unadilla.
23:13It's a tough break
23:14for him.
23:16Here's Hymas.
23:19Let's credit
23:20the 3rd place rider
23:21by the way
23:21who's Landon Gordon.
23:23had a great run
23:23in a muddy
23:24Supercross this year.
23:26That's probably
23:26a bit of a surprise
23:27because he is
23:28a California native.
23:29But Gordon,
23:30his best career
23:31moto finish
23:32rookie is 7th.
23:35That was at Lakewood
23:36and right now
23:37he's running 3rd.
23:38JT, we might have
23:38a new mud rider
23:39on our hands.
23:40Yeah, he looks spectacular
23:41and I don't even know
23:41that it's necessarily
23:42even mud anymore.
23:43He's been great
23:44all morning
23:45and all afternoon
23:45thus far
23:46and as I look
23:47through the field
23:48Gordon is certainly
23:49one of them
23:49but he is one
23:50of four
23:52Monster Yamaha
23:53Star Racing riders
23:54between Cole Davies
23:55and Levi Kitchen.
23:56That's the power
23:57of having really
23:58good teammates
23:59in a big team.
24:00That's four positions
24:02that he is creating
24:03in this points championship
24:04between the leader
24:05and Levi Kitchen.
24:08Every bit helps
24:09late in the year
24:10like this.
24:11So Gordon is 3rd.
24:12That is a lap rider
24:13that's Larwood
24:14who had another good run
24:15also last week.
24:16That's the Australian
24:17250 champion
24:18but he is a lap rider
24:20right now.
24:20This is Mumford
24:21who's next in line
24:22just another solid run
24:25from Mumford
24:25who's been doing
24:26this all summer.
24:28Yeah, it's becoming
24:28a norm.
24:29It almost reminds me
24:29of March Banks
24:30in the 450 class.
24:32If he's not inside
24:32the top five
24:33you're like
24:33what's going on
24:34and just shows you
24:35how much that team
24:36is to prove
24:37but also Carson
24:38we talked about
24:39in a year
24:39just been able
24:40to build
24:41and get that confidence
24:42and now start to believe
24:43this is where I belong
24:44and see if he can
24:45just stay where he's at
24:46and continue moving.
24:49Mumford really wants
24:50that overall podium.
24:52Been in 4th and 5th
24:53a lot lately.
24:54That will be
24:55a career first
24:56overall podium
24:57for him.
24:57Had the Moto podium
24:58earlier in his career
24:59and then another one
25:00earlier this season.
25:02Muneer starting
25:03to close in.
25:06Muneer was a little
25:07off at Unadilla.
25:09He's poked
25:10and fun at himself.
25:11She read one
25:12of his letters
25:13in the Title 24 podcast.
25:14It goes like this.
25:15Here's a letter
25:16from Cade Muneer.
25:17Hey guys,
25:17why does Cade Muneer fade?
25:18Sign Cade Muneer.
25:20He made fun of himself.
25:22So I went to the truck
25:23today to ask him
25:23about that
25:24and he's like
25:24honestly I didn't fade.
25:25I was just slow
25:25the whole race.
25:26Same speed.
25:27Just slow.
25:28Hey, just consistently.
25:29I was consistently slow
25:30out there.
25:32So he said
25:32he's hoping
25:32for better results
25:33today and the
25:34young Australian
25:35he is hilarious.
25:36That's what
25:36every conversation
25:37with him is like.
25:38Is fifth.
25:39Much better today
25:40than at Unadilla.
25:41That is another
25:42monster Yamaha
25:43star racing rider.
25:45And then
25:46De Francisco
25:47would be next.
25:48Turner.
25:50Kitchen
25:51is still 12th.
25:53Time running out.
25:55Yeah, time running out
25:56but I'll tell you
25:57all these riders
25:58that we're talking
25:59about Muneer,
26:00Gordon, possibly
26:01Mumford,
26:02De Frisco.
26:03Like this is when
26:04you're going to talk
26:04about next year.
26:05These are going to be
26:06guys up here
26:06battling for this title
26:08as they get a little
26:09bit more experience.
26:11Bomair
26:13battling it out
26:13with Lux Turner.
26:15Lux started the year
26:16with a great performance
26:17at the opener.
26:18Had a mid-season slump.
26:19He's been better
26:19as of late.
26:21I asked him
26:22what the difference is.
26:23He said honestly
26:23I think when I have
26:24a good result
26:24I start wanting it
26:25too bad.
26:26I get too excited.
26:27Had to learn
26:28to just roll with it
26:29and it has been better
26:30for Lux as of late.
26:31Now running seven.
26:33Yeah, well I mean
26:34he's got a lot of pressure
26:35in the household
26:36when we're going to
26:37see his sister
26:39Lachlan Turner
26:39who's winning
26:40our WMX championship.
26:43We're going to see her
26:43in a couple hours here
26:44so Lux
26:45got to represent
26:46in the house.
26:47Can't have a little
26:47sis out there
26:48getting you done.
26:49Yeah, that's
26:50been quite the theme.
26:51Hey, we had Mayla
26:52Herrick, the rookie
26:52in that series
26:53had her brother
26:53hanging out with us
26:54in the booth
26:55before the show
26:56and he's only
26:57on a mini right now
26:58but he's going to
26:59have a high standard
26:59of up to as well.
27:01There's a lot
27:01of these stories
27:02mixed in
27:03in both the WMX
27:04and the 250 classes.
27:06As for Bo Mair
27:09decent performance
27:11gotta wonder
27:12what might have been
27:13the last couple weeks.
27:14He has been luckless
27:15as well
27:15and has lost some points
27:16to JT.
27:18James, I have a question
27:19for you
27:20and for a long time
27:21pro motocross fans
27:22this is going to resonate
27:23if it's your first time
27:23watching, just bear with me
27:25but James, does this track
27:26start to remind you
27:27of how the 2003
27:29racetrack shaped up
27:30where super muddy
27:31in the morning
27:31and then one line
27:32gets worked in
27:33and that one line
27:34is really dry
27:35and really good
27:35but incredibly difficult
27:36to pass
27:37unless your name
27:38is James Stewart?
27:40yeah, it was
27:41it was really muddy
27:42in that one
27:43and he's going back
27:43to the race
27:44probably one of my
27:45best races ever
27:462003 where I went
27:47from 40th to 1st
27:49pretty quickly
27:50but yeah, it reminds me
27:51of it a little bit
27:51because it was a hard base
27:53but yeah, I didn't have
27:55any problems passing
27:56I blacked out
27:57and I was getting
27:58around everybody
28:00easy to do
28:01when you're way faster
28:02you can find lines
28:03Beaumare
28:05his crew cheering him on
28:06trying to get him
28:06further forward
28:07around Turner
28:08they're saying
28:09three laps to go
28:10that's rough math
28:11time will expire
28:12there'll be two
28:13they just went around
28:16Mosman who's having
28:16a bad moto
28:18he was a lap down
28:21this is Kitchen
28:22without the goggles
28:23more of the heartbreak
28:25look at what this is like
28:29Rodder looking into
28:30the soul of a champion
28:31right there
28:32you know
28:32want to be a champion
28:34tough conditions
28:35and imagine
28:36doing all that
28:37and having to
28:38pick ruts
28:40add speed
28:41getting roosted
28:42dodging other stuff
28:44and this is what
28:44these guys are going
28:45to have to deal with
28:45but you see that face
28:47right there
28:47that's determination
28:48never give up
28:49and that might pay off
28:52JT
28:53yeah, just to add
28:55to the complexity
28:55for Levi
28:56Kitchen
28:56it's not just
28:57that he can't see
28:58you know
28:58crashing on that
28:59first lap
29:00your gloves get
29:01covered in mud
29:02you don't have
29:03the dexterity
29:04to hold on to
29:05the handlebars
29:06and use the clutch
29:06as easily
29:07because you have
29:08mud all over your
29:08hands
29:09and also the
29:09insides of your
29:10pants
29:11when you fall
29:11into the mud
29:12you get covered
29:12in mud
29:13you don't have
29:13as much grip
29:14so you can't
29:14squeeze the bike
29:15and you simply
29:16can't ride as well
29:17as a guy like
29:18Cole Davies
29:19or Chance Hyman
29:19who are more or
29:21less clean
29:22from the opening lap
29:23yeah
29:23and even
29:24let me add
29:24what's up
29:26millions of dollars
29:26on the line
29:27in a championship
29:28that's
29:28hey
29:29you gotta do it
29:29but at the same
29:30time
29:30is he gonna get
29:31a BOGO special
29:32right here
29:32he did one
29:33finally got around
29:34doesn't he
29:35this is
29:35Daxton Bennett
29:38yeah Bennett
29:38passed him
29:39a couple laps
29:39ago
29:39and he's about
29:40to go by
29:40and there's
29:41more traffic
29:42right in front
29:42no he doesn't
29:43go by
29:44but now there's
29:45Thrasher
29:46that's Mosman
29:47who's a lap
29:47down
29:50oh that's
29:51brutal
29:52you know
29:52get it
29:53yeah he just
29:53got roosted
29:54right there
29:54but yeah
29:55he's making
29:56his way up
29:57there
29:57I mean
29:57exactly
29:58what he's
29:58got to do
30:00like I said
30:01when I watch
30:01him
30:02he looks fine
30:03you know
30:03he's riding
30:04good
30:04but unfortunately
30:05for him
30:05with no goggles
30:06and disconditions
30:08really tough
30:10out there
30:12talk about a guy
30:13who's not having
30:13it tough
30:14he's our leader
30:14Cole Davis
30:163.6 now
30:18is the gap
30:18between Davies
30:19and Hymas
30:20but I will say
30:20I think we have
30:21seen from Davies
30:22he's kind of that
30:22new school
30:23he only leads
30:24as much as
30:25he needs to
30:26so I don't know
30:27if this is a true
30:29charge
30:29from Hymas
30:31or if this is
30:32Davies just trying
30:33to maintain
30:33I guess we'll know
30:34in two laps
30:35when the checkered
30:36flag comes out
30:37last opportunity
30:39for Kitchen
30:39to scratch
30:40some points
30:40back
30:40every spot
30:41he can make
30:41up
30:42is one
30:43championship
30:43point
30:45yeah
30:45to go back
30:46to what you
30:46said with Cole
30:47I think it's
30:47a little bit
30:48of both
30:48because of how
30:49slippery
30:49his track is
30:50and with the
30:51mud
30:52it kind of
30:52tames everybody
30:53so your pace
30:54is kind of
30:54your pace
30:55and it really
30:55comes down
30:56to mistakes
30:56you gain
30:57a couple
30:57seconds
30:58by a little
30:58mistake
30:59like Levi
30:59made
30:59you can lose
31:00a lot
31:00of time
31:01there
31:01so
31:03ride by
31:03all these
31:04guys
31:06Levi digging
31:07deep
31:07and
31:09so
31:09I'm assuming
31:10you've ridden a moto
31:11without goggles
31:11for whatever reason
31:12at some point
31:13I mean
31:13what do the eyes
31:14feel like
31:14and he's got to
31:15get ready for
31:15his second moto
31:16you want to cut
31:17him out
31:17after the race
31:19yeah
31:19you don't know
31:20Vaseline
31:21it ain't gonna
31:22help you
31:23too much
31:23out of there
31:24but
31:24vising
31:25yeah
31:25you can get
31:26it by the
31:26gallon
31:26at this point
31:27you can be
31:27dry eyes
31:28I'd hear
31:29but
31:30at the
31:30right now
31:31he understands
31:32what's on the line
31:33and you know
31:34for a championship
31:35we'll do a lot
31:35of things
31:36and that's
31:36including
31:36ride without
31:37goggles in the
31:37mud
31:38so
31:39yeah
31:40they'll be
31:40flushing the eyes
31:41out I'm sure
31:42well done
31:43Levi
31:44fighting
31:53all right
31:53there is a
31:54ruling from
31:55the AMA
31:56it is going to
31:56be a four
31:57position penalty
31:58for Kitchen
31:58for this
31:59off the start
32:00off track
32:01yeah you can
32:01see Levi
32:02is on the grass
32:03now
32:03the hard part
32:05for him
32:05you can see
32:06the way
32:06that the
32:06angle is
32:07off the start
32:08it basically
32:08puts him
32:09into the
32:09mechanics
32:10there
32:10so
32:10because of
32:11the mud
32:12it's probably
32:12been harder
32:12for him
32:13to get back
32:13but nonetheless
32:14he ends up
32:15on the grass
32:15inside those
32:16stakes
32:17those white
32:18stakes
32:18and that is
32:19the penalty
32:20so
32:20could have
32:21been a lot
32:21worse
32:22could have
32:22been more
32:22in four
32:23positions
32:23but you add
32:24that up
32:25with a first
32:25lap crash
32:27in 11th place
32:28right now
32:28Levi's looking
32:29for outside
32:3015th place
32:31at Dulo
32:32JS
32:325 out of 4
32:33math right
32:34there
32:34so
32:34he got it
32:35right
32:35well done
32:36sir
32:36as we watch
32:37Davies
32:37so
32:38you don't know
32:39if that was
32:39an actual
32:40strategy
32:40of Kitchen
32:41or do you
32:42think the way
32:42that was
32:43angled
32:44ended up
32:44on that
32:44grass
32:46even if
32:47he didn't
32:47intend to
32:48yeah
32:48well I
32:50hate to say
32:50what we have
32:51to say
32:51I don't think
32:51he went
32:52to the inside
32:52saying you
32:53know what
32:53I'm going
32:53to be on
32:54the grass
32:54because he
32:54also understands
32:55there's a lot
32:55of cameras
32:56he is a
32:56championship
32:56points leader
32:57and you know
32:58if you do
32:59that advantage
32:59somebody's going
33:00to call it out
33:00so I don't think
33:01Yamaha's team
33:02star racing
33:02probably
33:03I don't think
33:04he went
33:04to the gate
33:05saying I'm
33:05getting on
33:05the grass
33:06but you know
33:07at the same
33:07time he didn't
33:08think I'm
33:08letting off
33:08the gas
33:09either
33:09yeah
33:10Moseman
33:11also has
33:11been penalized
33:12we're going
33:12to show
33:13you what
33:13happened
33:13to him
33:14he takes
33:14three positions
33:15penalty
33:15from the
33:16AMA
33:17this is on
33:18the near
33:19side
33:22far left
33:23they say
33:24oh
33:24same thing
33:25on the right
33:25side
33:26that kitchen
33:26was doing
33:27on the left
33:29he tried
33:30to make
33:30the ultimate
33:30gamble there
33:31it almost
33:31worked
33:32yeah
33:32and again
33:33to
33:35the end
33:35of the
33:35defense
33:36because of
33:37the mud
33:37it's easy
33:37for these
33:38guys
33:38to lose
33:39the rear end
33:39and then
33:40of course
33:40off the
33:41gate
33:41you're not
33:42letting off
33:42you know
33:43so
33:43they end up
33:44on the grass
33:44they end up
33:44on the grass
33:45so
33:45fortunate for them
33:46that is a penalty
33:47you got to stay
33:48inside the markers
33:49but
33:50it's going to
33:51cost them
33:51yeah that would
33:53be if it ends
33:53like this
33:5415th for kitchen
33:55and suddenly
33:56Cole Davies
33:57a point lead
33:58although the lead
33:58is shrinking
34:00it might have
34:00been management
34:01mode because
34:01two and a half
34:02seconds
34:02I think
34:03Heimitz is still
34:04getting closer
34:04but
34:06we're near the
34:07finish
34:07about four turns
34:08left
34:10and the teenager
34:11out of New Zealand
34:12I talked to his
34:12dad this morning
34:13said yep
34:14grew up riding
34:15plenty of mud
34:15back in New Zealand
34:16now said
34:16one thing
34:17hasn't actually
34:19ridden a 250F
34:21in the mud
34:21it hasn't been
34:22much mud riding
34:23since he moved
34:23to America
34:24but as a kid
34:25on minicycle
34:25one hit this
34:26no worries
34:27and he's proven it
