00:00They had about 50 seconds to try to draw them offside, but at that point I don't think the Steelers
00:04were going to be baited on that.
00:05In a strange way, it may have actually hurt the Jets, because the sense of urgency might have gotten someone
00:11to bite.
00:11But then once they settled in and realized, hey, they're not running a play.
00:17McNamara will punt it away.
00:20Weijin is the deep man, coughed it up on his last try.
00:24That ball will not get to Weijin.
00:27It rolls along the sideline and then touched right around the 16-yard line by Arian Smith on special teams.
00:3539-yard kick.
00:36Jets maintain the lead, 7-0 over Pittsburgh.
00:42Jets preseason football on CBS New York is sponsored by New York Jets sweeps.
00:47Tech celebrate to 26154 to be entered for a chance to win.

00:56And by U.S. Virgin Islands.
00:58Visit the U.S. Virgin Islands, where you will fall naturally in rhythm.
01:05First three possessions for the Steelers.
01:08Back-to-back punts.
01:09And then Howard got picked off by Andre Sisco.
01:13They take over at the 16-yard line.
01:16Caleb Johnson, the second-year running back out of Iowa, now in the backfield.
01:22The pitch from Howard to Johnson.
01:26And he cuts through for a gain of five.
01:28Let's take a look at the Jets' profile presented by Tickpick.
01:32Still haven't seen Tavondre sweat here in the preseason, but he has returned to practice.
01:37Yeah, large human being, obviously, getting healthy.
01:40Now he's returned.
01:41We'll see him soon.
01:43But you think about what he brings to the table.
01:45You see big run-stop rule.
01:46Aaron Glenn talked about him, hey, being a little bit more versatile as well.
01:49They like his pass rush skills.
01:51Pushing the pocket.
01:52Being a little more agile for his size.
01:54They expect that to be a big part of his game.
01:56Howard, nice rhythm throw.
02:00Nowakowski.
02:03Hybrid, fullback, tight end, tight.
02:05Had a touchdown receiving last week in the victory over Green Bay.
02:09That's good for 10 yards.
02:10You know, a lot of full-flow, hard play action.
02:13You get some of these backers to sit back.
02:15And you're trying to get something downfield, but they flow it underneath.
02:19You had a defensive end drop back and covering running back,
02:22which is not the best matchup.
02:24So that's a win for there from a Steelers standpoint.
02:26He's able to get an easy completion.
02:28No Aaron Rodgers tonight.
02:29No Mason Rudolph tonight for Pittsburgh.
02:32Off the play fake.
02:34Skoranek could not get away from Trey Brown.
02:38And he limits him to a three-yard pickup.
02:42Quick programming note to share if you're just joining us.
02:44And we're expecting to see Sheriff Country.
02:47You can catch that and the rest of the CBS lineup
02:50starting right now on New York 55.
02:58DK Metcalf and Aaron Rodgers along with Pat Fryer-Muth
03:02taking in the action from the sideline.
03:05Steelers went 10-7 last season.
03:07Lost to Houston in the wild card.
03:10Perfectly placed.
03:11Howard over the top to Tunyon.
03:14And the veteran tight end hauls it in for a first down.
03:18Yeah, you got man-to-man coverage across the board.
03:22Malachi is a player for this football team
03:25that has to stand out and make some plays more.
03:26And he's in the spot.
03:28He's in the place to make that play on the football.
03:30But the placement was a little bit better.
03:33He's not able to scrape that one out,
03:34but he is there to make that tackle.
03:38Down to 4.35 remaining in this first half.
03:41She had seven Steelers, nothing.
03:44Howard, good protection.
03:46Coming back for the football.
03:48Still running.
03:52It's a gain of seven on the play.
03:54Trey Brown, a little slow to get up.
03:59Trey's got a lot of opportunities at that nickel position
04:03just because, you know, you only have Brownlee.
04:05You talked about Wright,
04:07and you also talked about Pons not being able to practice.
04:10So, again, he's getting some more opportunities as well.
04:12Pons, a second-round pick out of Indiana.
04:18Qantas Stiggers did return to practice this week,
04:22so good sign for him moving forward,
04:24but not available tonight.
04:28Trey Brown, who's played with Seattle and the Rams,
04:33was on the practice squad for the Jets last season.
04:35Known for his speed.
04:36That was always what popped off the page on scouting reports.
04:43And Brown going in for the tackle,
04:46and the helmet slammed down to the turf.
04:51So now Keenan Garber will step in.
04:54He's a first-year defensive back from Kansas State.
04:59Second down and three.
05:00Quick hitter.
05:01In some traffic, Roman Wilson,
05:03but did not get enough for the first down.
05:07Jets sniff him out.
05:10The heck of a job here, Jordan Clark.
05:13Reading this, sees the block here,
05:15and he shoots and gets underneath that,
05:17and is able to make the tackle on the spot.
05:19Got a lot of play in last week's preseason.
05:22Obviously, Jordan Clark, the son of Ryan Clark,
05:24and I believe he's in attendance tonight.
05:26So, again, just an opportunity.
05:28Younger players now, second year,
05:30getting some more time because of other guys' injuries.
05:32Howard is now 5 of 5 on the drive.
05:34They're looking to convert on a third and one,
05:36and they will.
05:39So, they give the responsibility
05:44to Lou Nichols,
05:45who gets 2 1⁄2 yards on the play.
05:50We'll count it down to the 3-minute mark.
05:54First half.
05:54Both teams have all 3 timeouts remaining.
05:57Jets scored on the opening drive.
05:59Geno Smith won a perfect 7 of 7 on the drive
06:02and hit Chalani Woods
06:06for the 13-yard touchdown.
06:09Caleb Johnson back in there
06:12from the 42.
06:15Howard lays it out there
06:17for Perlman.
06:20First year wide out from Notre Dame
06:22with a 3-yard pickup.
06:24Garber ranging over
06:25to make the play for New York.
06:27See, a lot of this run-action stuff
06:29out of the Steelers tonight.
06:30They're running tight ends
06:31back across,
06:33away from where they're faking the run.
06:35They're also bringing receivers.
06:36You talked about, you know,
06:38Perlman is sneaking under,
06:40and that, you lose track.
06:41He's a smaller guy,
06:42so you're used to a big-body tight end
06:44coming across.
06:45When you're a linebacker,
06:46you're trying to find that body.
06:47You don't see a small receiver,
06:49and they sneak him outside.
06:50Perlman has a running back background.
06:53The actual running back, Caleb Johnson,
06:55gets that call,
06:56and he's stacked up.
06:57After a gain of two,
06:59number of Jets in there
07:00to make sure that Johnson
07:02didn't keep going,
07:03including Jawan Briggs.
07:06And we've hit the two-minute warning.
07:09Steelers will face a third and five,
07:11looking for their first points
07:13of the night.
07:18two minutes to play in this first half.
07:20Coming up,
07:21MetLife Halftime Show
07:22will take you to New York
07:23for a news update.
07:24Plus,
07:25Otis gives you more
07:26on the Jets'
07:27empower-her fundraiser.
07:29It's all coming up
07:30on the MetLife Halftime Show.
07:33Jets defense trying to hold Pittsburgh here.
07:36Howard is now 10 of 14,
07:38174 yards,
07:40and the interception to Sisko.
07:48Line of scrimmage is the 37 of New York
07:51on a third down and five.
07:56Howard zips it,
07:58and it's intercepted!
08:00Another pick from New York!
08:05A flag is down
08:08as Womack
08:09comes away with the INT.
08:13Pass interference.
08:15Offense number 84.
08:16The penalty is inclined.
08:18Result of the play.
08:19First down.
08:20They come in bunches.
08:22They do.
08:27The Jets defense
08:28does it again.
08:31Second interception of the night
08:33for New York.
08:37Interception for Samuel Womack
08:39now in his fifth year
08:40in the NFL.
08:41Stints with San Francisco,
08:43Indianapolis, and Tennessee.
08:44Actually played wide receiver
08:45at high school
08:46in Detroit.
08:48Klubnik.
08:51A connection is made
08:52with Omar Cooper, Jr.,
08:54the national champion
08:55from Indiana.
08:57Brings it in
08:58with 1.42
08:59and counting left
09:00in his first half.
09:01A second down and one.
09:03And it allows you
09:04to get this young quarterback
09:05a two-minute offense
09:06now right into the half,
09:07so it works out perfect
09:08for both sides of the ball
09:09for the Jets.
09:10Nine different receivers
09:11have caught at least
09:12one ball for New York
09:14as Wongu stumbles
09:16for two.
09:17That's going to move
09:17the chains.
09:20Got three timeouts.
09:21A lot here to operate with,
09:23so this should be
09:23a really good opportunity
09:24here to call plays
09:26and run plays.
09:27Klubnik darts it
09:28to the sideline
09:29and Isaiah Williams
09:30on the receiving end
09:32did not get out of bounds
09:33so the clock continues
09:34to roll 1.05
09:36and counting
09:37to gain of six.
09:44Under a minute to play now.
09:48Klubnik steps up
09:49and Klubnik gets clocked.
09:52There was a meeting
09:54in the pocket.
09:55Jack Sawyer
09:57for Pittsburgh
09:58leading the brigade.
10:00Listen, you can sit back
10:01and play coverage
10:02and just play your two-minute
10:03or you can say,
10:04you know what,
10:05we got a young quarterback.
10:06Let's see how he deals
10:06with pressure.
10:07They bring pressure
10:08off the edge.
10:09They have a free hitter
10:10coming in.
10:11Now the quarterback
10:12has to expedite
10:13and speed things up
10:14and he's not able
10:14to really make any room
10:15for himself.
10:17And again,
10:17protection was there,
10:18just didn't have enough
10:19guys to protect
10:20when you're in the
10:20two-minute offense.
10:21So, again,
10:22well played by the
10:22Steelers defense
10:23and now,
10:24how risky do you want
10:25to be here
10:26on third and long
10:27in this situation?
10:28Well, this turns
10:29into a third
10:30and 11.
10:31The Jets use
10:32their first timeout.
10:3439 seconds to go.
10:44From the gun.
10:45Klubnik stands tall
10:47on the out route.
10:48He hits his man.
10:51Malik McClain,
10:51the rookie from
10:52Arizona State
10:53for a first down.
10:54That's rookie to rookie.
10:56What I love about that
10:57is the ball's out of the
10:58hands of the quarterback
10:59before McClain even
11:00comes out of his route.
11:01So, you talk about
11:02timing, being where
11:04you need to be.
11:04Watch this.
11:05The ball's in the air
11:06right now.
11:06You can't see it,
11:07but it's perfectly on target.
11:08Guess what?
11:09You get out of bounds
11:09as well to stop the clock.
11:10And it keeps the drive
11:11alive.
11:12Klubnik,
11:12pump fake.
11:13Nice avoidance.
11:15And that ball got tipped
11:16as he was throwing
11:17on the move
11:18incomplete.
11:20Bruner got a piece.
11:23His dad, Mark,
11:24was a long-time
11:25tight end
11:25for the Steelers.
11:26That's Carson Bruner,
11:28second-year linebacker.
11:33Put a second on the clock,
11:3539 seconds to play.
11:37Jets still have
11:37two timeouts to work with.
11:39Again, plenty of time.
11:40The one thing you don't
11:41want to do is force anything.
11:42It's a nice job
11:43getting out of the pocket,
11:44but you see there
11:45the quickness and speed
11:46of defenders in the NFL.
11:47They can get around
11:48the football quick
11:49if you're just trying
11:50to poke a pass in there
11:51as a young quarterback.
11:53So, again,
11:53these are little things
11:54that he's registering
11:55in his head
11:55as he's playing this offense.
11:57Getting close to field
11:58goal range as well.
12:00As Larry Smith
12:01New York runs in.
12:02Final timeout.
12:03Timeout was called.
12:0430 seconds in length.
12:10As a team,
12:12man, challenge each other
12:13and keep intensity high.
12:15We can never let it go down.
12:17Never.
12:18I know what time it is, man.
12:19Let's go, Jets,
12:19on three, one, two, three.
12:20Jets!
12:24So, the announcement
12:25from Larry Smith initially
12:26was that was the Jets'
12:27last timeout.
12:28They actually have
12:29the one remaining,
12:29he has corrected himself.
12:33Larry is an umpire
12:34on Sean Hockerley's crew.
12:36Was a referee
12:37in the Big Ten
12:38and he's also a
12:40principal of a middle school
12:41in Kansas City, Kansas.
12:45No detention.
12:47That's a great bio
12:48line-up right there.
12:49It's well done.
12:50Got to go the extra mile.
12:51You always do it.
12:52second and ten.
12:54Club Nick
12:55has to eat it
12:57back in Jets' territory
12:58and it's Bruner.
13:02Yeah, Wongu's gonna be in protection here
13:05and decides to take it
13:06heavy up top
13:07and he gets one over.
13:09He probably should have
13:09cut the defender here
13:10on that play.
13:13And now it's third down
13:15and long.
13:17Field goal range.
13:18They're looking for it
13:20and that might be enough
13:22to try one
13:23to Malik McClain.
13:27Four seconds.
13:28Three seconds.
13:30And they use the timeout
13:31with one second
13:32on the clock.
13:34A little risky there.
13:36Maybe they thought
13:37there was one time
13:37no timeouts
13:38because they heard it
13:39but you see Wongu here
13:41you gotta cut this guy.
13:42It's a big defender
13:43coming in linebacker.
13:44He just doesn't make
13:44a great decision.
13:47But then he comes right back.
13:48They gotta be fast.
13:49He's found a nice hookup
13:50with McClain there
13:51on the deep curl route
13:53and now it gives him
13:55a chance to
13:55listen, there's a kicking
13:56competition going on
13:57right here.
13:58So why not
13:59give an opportunity
14:00for these guys
14:01to kick the football?
14:02Yeah, that battle
14:03is between Cade York
14:04and Jason Sanders.
14:06Cade York's career high
14:08is a 59-yarder
14:11and that is what
14:12he's going to attempt
14:13right now.
14:16The snapper is Hennessy.
14:18The holder is McNamara.
14:26Cade York.
14:2859-yard attempt.
14:31Sweeps the leg.
14:33And York's kick
14:35is errant.
14:36No good.
14:39So no points
14:40before the end
14:41of the first half
14:42for New York.
14:44Yeah, it has the distance.
14:46Just isn't able to get it
14:48between the uprights
14:49but again,
14:49you see the strength
14:50of the leg
14:51but again,
14:52in these battles
14:52these are moments,
14:53critical moments,
14:54pressure moments, right?
14:55You want your kicker
14:55to go out there
14:56one second left.
14:57that's a huge opportunity
14:58miss for that young man.
15:02So the Jets
15:03with a 7-0 lead
15:05at the break
15:05over Pittsburgh.
15:06Steelers will have
15:07the football
15:08to start the second half.
15:16coming up.
15:18We'll have the
15:19MetLife halftime show.
15:22Send it back
15:23to New York.
15:24Otis Livingston
15:24has you covered here
15:26on site in Pittsburgh.
15:27It's all coming up
15:29after these messages
15:31on CBS New York.
15:53Right now,
15:54let's take a look
15:54at the first half stats
15:55presented by 1-800-GOT-JUNK.
15:59The Jets go for
16:00148 total yards.
16:01the opening drive
16:02for the first team offense.
16:05Very impressive.
16:06And then
16:06they pick off
16:07two Howard passes
16:09to maintain
16:09the 7-0 lead
16:11as we get ready
16:11for second half action.
16:12Welcome back, everybody.
16:13Ian Eagle,
16:14Anthony Beck,
16:15Otis Livingston
16:16down on the sidelines.
16:17So let's start
16:18with Geno Smith
16:19because Geno's
16:20back in New York.
16:22Second stint
16:22for the Jets.
16:23Didn't play last week
16:24because of the ankle injury.
16:26Boy, did he ever look
16:27the part
16:28of number one QB
16:30tonight.
16:30He really did.
16:31I mean,
16:317-for-7,
16:33let the offense
16:33down on a scoring drive.
16:35And that's kind of
16:36how you dream it up,
16:37right?
16:37You're a head coach
16:38and OC.
16:38You're like,
16:38okay,
16:39we want this to happen.
16:40We know it's not realistic,
16:41but you know what?
16:42It came to life.
16:43Found receivers,
16:44found tight ends,
16:45was able to keep
16:46them off the ground.
16:47And again,
16:47you see the command
16:48and confidence
16:49that he has.
16:50And that's just
16:50a small glimpse
16:51of the functionality
16:52you're going to see
16:53for the Jets'
16:54offense this year.
16:55And that's why
16:55he's here.
16:56The veteran status
16:57and the amount
16:59of ball that he
16:59has played
17:00since his first
17:01stint with the Jets,
17:02learning with the Giants,
17:04with the Chargers,
17:05then getting that
17:05opportunity with Seattle
17:07last year.
17:08He even said
17:09that was a learning
17:09experience with Las Vegas,
17:11became a better leader.
17:12All right,
17:12time for what ABCs?
17:14It's brought to you
17:15by Genesis.
17:16Let's go through
17:17that first half.
17:18That's a new picture,
17:19by the way,
17:20and I believe it's AI.
17:22Yeah,
17:22and it's all blacked out,
17:23so there's no logos,
17:24which is great,
17:25but it's a thinner logo.
17:27Plus,
17:27it's offensively
17:28the first drive
17:29we just talked about.
17:29It's unbelievable.
17:30It's exactly what you want
17:31from your ones.
17:31How about two picks?
17:32I never saw
17:33or said interceptions
17:34last year.
17:35We get to see it twice
17:36in one quarter
17:36by the defense.
17:37What can we improve on?
17:38Hey, running the ball,
17:40the second offensive line
17:41got a chance
17:41to go get some
17:42of those Steelers starters,
17:43and it was hard
17:44to run the football.
17:45I know they want
17:46to establish that,
17:47and hey, yeah,
17:47David Bailey,
17:48big-time sack
17:49when he was in the game,
17:50but that front-four pressure
17:52in general
17:53when they're not bringing
17:53any other linebackers
17:55or DBs,
17:56which they haven't done
17:56a lot of tonight,
17:57you guys got to get to Howard.
17:59He was able to complete
18:00some passes
18:01in some of those drives,
18:02but they were able
18:03to bail the defense out
18:04on those interceptions,
18:05so again,
18:07a little happy medium,
18:07get to the quarterback,
18:08but yet, man,
18:09great plays on the back end
18:10to really provide a spark
18:12with the interceptions.
18:13So, Geno's number,
18:15seven of seven,
18:1665 yards,
18:17the touchdown
18:17to Woods
18:19for 13 yards,
18:21and then decision
18:22was made,
18:22Aaron Glenn,
18:23Frank Wright,
18:24no more Geno,
18:26and no more Hurt.
18:28Braylon Allen,
18:29considering the injury
18:31to Brees Hall,
18:32no reason to go
18:33for the second drive
18:34for the first-team offense.
18:36they got exactly
18:37what they were looking for
18:38on that opening drive.
18:40Now, Jason Sanders
18:41will kick it off.
18:44Geno had high praise
18:45for Frank Reich,
18:46so did Cade Klubnick.
18:48Just the insight
18:49and the way
18:50he teaches the game.
18:53That ball rolls
18:54through the back
18:55of the end zone,
18:55and the Steelers
18:57will open up
18:58with the football
18:59to start the second half,
19:00and Drew Aller,
19:02the Penn State product
19:04rookie third-round draft pick
19:05will lead this offense.
19:07Last week,
19:08in the win over Green Bay,
19:10Aller went 10 of 13,
19:12153 yards,
19:13and two touchdowns
19:15through the air,
19:16three total.
19:17It was impressive.
19:18I mean,
19:18you talk about someone
19:19that a little bit banged up
19:20his last year at Penn State,
19:22you know,
19:23wasn't able to really capitalize
19:24on what the season
19:25was supposed to look like,
19:27but, man,
19:27he gets drafted,
19:28he works himself back,
19:29and really shows out,
19:30and answers a lot of questions,
19:32a lot of videos circulating
19:33about Mike McCarthy
19:34changing his style
19:35and the way he throws,
19:37but really coaching him up,
19:38and it showed week one,
19:39so it'd be a nice challenge
19:40for the Jets defense
19:41to see him on the football field.
19:43So that'll do it
19:44for Will Howard tonight.
19:48Shotgun for Aller,
19:49handles the stat.
19:52Aller,
19:53out of the pocket.
19:55Well,
19:56pump and run,
19:57just shy of the 40-yard line.
19:58He is out of bounds
20:00up a 39.
20:03Chase there,
20:04Cisco and Macquarie ball.
20:06Yeah,
20:06it's a good job
20:07by McGregor.
20:08Now,
20:08you don't want to run
20:09past the quarterback,
20:10but this is a guy
20:11you think,
20:11well,
20:11he's not as fast
20:12and nimble,
20:13but shows his ability
20:14to get out there.
20:15A lot of flash bling
20:16in there on him as well.
20:18He's got a lot of silver.
20:20That's a lot.
20:21That would distract me
20:22a little bit.
20:22I don't know,
20:23that's just me,
20:23but different look,
20:25different time.
20:27Aller on a give.
20:29Outside,
20:30Caleb Johnson
20:31is tackled
20:31in the open field
20:32by Jordan Clark.
20:35Five-yard pickup.
20:37Clark
20:38ended his college career
20:40at Notre Dame,
20:41transferred from
20:41Arizona State.
20:42You mentioned
20:44his dad,
20:45Ryan,
20:45who won a Super Bowl
20:47for the Pittsburgh Steelers
20:49and is in attendance
20:50here tonight.
20:52That's a big-time tackle.
20:53I mean,
20:54just swipe the arm
20:55and drive through his legs.
20:57I mean,
20:57he had the first down there
20:58and he stopped him,
20:59so that's going to show up
21:00on film, man.
21:01That's a really nice play
21:02to that young man.
21:03They're down to one.
21:06They're going to run it
21:07inside.
21:08Caleb Johnson,
21:09it is enough
21:11for a first down.
21:14And that's a great memory
21:16for the Clark family.
21:20Trophy smiles all around.
21:22And that is Jordan
21:24on the right
21:24in the striped polo shirt.
21:26Yeah,
21:27it's incredible.
21:27I mean,
21:28you know,
21:28you think about
21:28everybody's getting older,
21:30right?
21:30We all have our kids
21:31and he was such
21:31a great Steelers player,
21:32but, you know,
21:34I saw him in the elevator,
21:35actually talked to him
21:36a little bit,
21:37talked about his son.
21:37He's getting some time
21:38to see his kid play
21:39and saw him on the sidelines
21:41before the game.
21:41You do some of your best work
21:42in the elevator,
21:43getting nuggets
21:45for the broadcast.
21:48Aller steps up.
21:50And Aller runs
21:52across midfield
21:53with a penalty marker down.
21:55Flag is back
21:56at the 37-yard line.
22:01McCullough.
22:02Holding.
22:03Offense.
22:04Number 62.
22:05He was the guilty party.
22:07First down.
22:07That is the first penalty
22:09of the night
22:09against Pittsburgh.
22:10Three.
22:11against New York.
22:12Yeah,
22:13Peyton Page, 98,
22:14does a nice job
22:14of pushing the pocket.
22:15Gets his hands up
22:16in the helmet,
22:16but he gets away from it.
22:18I don't know how much
22:19of a hold there it was.
22:21Hands are inside.
22:22He's kind of sitting back
22:23and doing it.
22:23But, again,
22:24if you shed his defender
22:25and you try to break away
22:27to make a tackle,
22:27sometimes you get those hands
22:29stuck on the pads
22:30and the officials
22:31can call those.
22:32So, it's good push
22:32by Page
22:33to create that hold.
22:34So, first and 20 now
22:35for Pittsburgh.
22:38Back it up
22:38after the penalty
22:39called on McCullough.
22:43Haller on the give.
22:45Johnson with the cutback.
22:47And the Jets rally
22:48to the football.
22:49Bring them down
22:50at the 40-yard line.
22:51So,
22:52it's a gain of three.
22:53Malachi Moore
22:54over there.
22:55McCrary ball
22:56in the area as well.
22:58You know,
22:59undrafted rookie
23:00Chase Wilson
23:00is on the field.
23:01So,
23:02a little tempo
23:02by Pittsburgh.
23:04Second and 17.
23:05Haller
23:06dump off.
23:07There is some room
23:08there for Johnson.
23:10Got those legs
23:11churning out
23:12across the 45.
23:13Cisco
23:14slides in
23:15to make the play.
23:17It's a gain
23:18of six.
23:20So,
23:21third down here
23:21for Pittsburgh.
23:22You know,
23:22something the Jets
23:23haven't done much of
23:24maybe as they did
23:25last year
23:26is tackle
23:26in practice.
23:27Now,
23:27they've had live drills
23:28and done things.
23:29But,
23:29man,
23:29I've been impressed
23:30in the preseason.
23:31Very rarely
23:32have I seen a guy
23:33miss the first tackle
23:34for this defense.
23:35So,
23:35that's a really big
23:36positive heading
23:37into the season.
23:39It's third down
23:40and long
23:40for the Steelers.
23:43Jets trying to
23:43hold up defensively.
23:45Rush is coming.
23:46Aller's sidearm toss.
23:47Room to work.
23:48And another
23:49open field tackle.
23:51Tunyon
23:51couldn't get away
23:52from Moore.
23:54Needed 11.
23:55They pick up
23:56five.
24:00Jets bring some
24:01pressure.
24:02And,
24:03again,
24:04this is a good job.
24:05They get everything
24:05picked up.
24:06Forces a quarterback
24:07to brush a little bit
24:08and it's a nice tackle
24:09by Moore.
24:10And they're going for it
24:10on fourth down.
24:11Aller looks,
24:13throws too high.
24:15The Jets take over
24:17on downs.
24:19trying to feed it.
24:22Out along the sideline
24:24and Womack
24:25was there.
24:28Jets get the football
24:30back.
24:30Third quarter.
24:3711-13 to play.
24:39Third quarter here
24:40in Pittsburgh
24:41where the Jets
24:43maintain their
24:447-0 lead
24:46over the Steelers.
24:47They take over
24:47at their own
24:4949-yard line.
24:50And Klubnik
24:50remains in the game
24:51for New York.
24:52Sam Scott
24:53gets the carry.
24:54It's no gain
24:55for the rookie
24:56out of Wyoming.
24:57Time now
24:58for the Jets
24:58ground attack.
24:59It's presented
25:00by Kia.
25:01All right,
25:01give us the story.
25:02What you're seeing
25:03from Braylon Allen.
25:04Yeah,
25:04I mean,
25:04last week was
25:06kind of an anomaly.
25:06He just did a great job.
25:07He looked faster.
25:08He looked stronger.
25:09And when we talked
25:10to him,
25:10he talked about,
25:12man,
25:12like,
25:12after post-surgery
25:13he lost a lot of weight,
25:14got down about 220.
25:15And,
25:16man,
25:16he just started lifting
25:17and running
25:17and his body just grew
25:18and he got stronger.
25:19But he kept his speed.
25:21So,
25:21he's at 250
25:22and he's like,
25:23man,
25:23I feel better
25:23and quicker
25:24than I ever have.
25:25that's the big thing
25:26of emphasis
25:27that he picked up,
25:28you know,
25:28coming back
25:28from that injury.
25:29On the underneath throw
25:32to Skinner.
25:33It is short
25:34of the first down
25:35but they pick up
25:36seven yards
25:37on the play.
25:39Now,
25:40he asked Braylon Allen
25:41about the relationship
25:42with Geno Smith.
25:42He said,
25:43yeah,
25:43I met him in Florida
25:44to train.
25:45Great guy.
25:47Really confident.
25:48It stood out to him
25:50the moment he met him
25:51that this guy
25:52oozes confidence
25:53and obviously
25:55we saw it
25:55on the opening drive
25:57of the night.
25:58And you think about that
25:59when you're in the huddle
25:59and you see that
26:00and the quarterback
26:01delivers that.
26:02See,
26:02that's a great presence.
26:04It gives you confidence
26:05as a player
26:05to go out there
26:06to know what you're doing.
26:07Crow the line
26:08on a third and two.
26:09There was not enough
26:11of a crack
26:12for Sam Scott.
26:14So,
26:14they're going to face
26:15four down.
26:16No gain on the play.
26:18And we are
26:20sensing that the
26:21offense will remain
26:22out there.
26:23Yeah,
26:23we've got some pressure
26:24following through.
26:25They're trying to sneak in.
26:26They're obviously
26:27knowing it's running.
26:28They get a little
26:28crossing there.
26:29They get picked up
26:30to one linebacker,
26:31but you have a free
26:31linebacker on the inside,
26:32Holcomb,
26:33who does a nice job tackling.
26:34Why not go for it
26:35on fourth?
26:36You've got to put them
26:36through these scenarios
26:37and situations.
26:39Probably get a one-on-one
26:40match up and a route,
26:40a quick pass
26:41to see if he's gonna
26:42get a play down.
26:44They need a little
26:45more than two yards.
26:47Klubnik.
26:48Quick dump off.
26:49The twirl by Scott
26:51and he didn't make it.
26:55Steelers believe
26:55they'll have the football
26:56and it appears
26:58they're right.
27:00Landon Roberts,
27:01the veteran,
27:03won a couple of
27:04Super Bowls
27:04with New England.
27:06Like the play design
27:07here and, you know,
27:08in preseason,
27:09you're trying to get
27:10the back on a quick
27:10swing,
27:11one-on-one
27:11with a tucked-in
27:12linebacker.
27:13Quite frankly,
27:14as you're a back
27:15and you catch that,
27:16if you've got some time
27:17to turn,
27:18you've got to make
27:18a guy miss.
27:19Those are the hidden
27:20traits that NFL teams
27:22want from backs
27:23coming out of the
27:24backfield when they
27:24catch the football.
27:25So the Jets now
27:26handed over to
27:27Pittsburgh.
27:28Couldn't convert
27:29on fourth down.

27:54Back here in
27:54Pittsburgh.
27:55Hi, Dad.
27:57We actually know
27:58her dad.
27:59It's our director,
27:59Matt Vlondo.
28:01How did they get
28:02on TV?
28:04Those are big
28:05dollar seats there.
28:07There was no
28:07expense for the
28:08families.
28:09Whatever I got to do
28:10to get them that
28:10close, I'm going to
28:11spend every waking
28:12dollar in my pocket.
28:14Funny where your
28:14brain goes.
28:16Caleb Johnson
28:17getting to the
28:18perimeter, but a
28:19penalty marker.
28:20In fact, two of them
28:21down, out near the
28:2450.
28:28Pretty clean game.
28:34Holding.
28:36Offense number 28.
28:38Ten-yard penalty
28:38from the spot of the
28:39foul.
28:40First down.
28:41And it's Levi
28:42Wentz, a rookie
28:44wide receiver, who's
28:45called on the
28:46hold out on the
28:47perimeter.
28:48You start getting
28:49the defender sideways
28:51and he starts trying
28:52to pull away.
28:53You've got to get
28:53away.
28:53That's a good job.
28:54You see Womack, who
28:55made an interception
28:56earlier, kind of lift
28:58his arms up.
28:58You see the pull.
28:59And again, make the
29:01officials call the
29:01play if the hands
29:03are in a bad spot.
29:09On first down,
29:11Allard.
29:13Fires one over
29:14the middle.
29:16And it's complete
29:17to Lake McCreary.
29:19Rookie tied in.
29:22Good for eight yards.
29:27I talked earlier, you
29:29know, when we came
29:29out of the half, about
29:30four-down pressure,
29:31right?
29:31Getting to the
29:32quarterback.
29:33Again, Allard being
29:34a guy that's not as
29:35mobile, who's going to
29:37be in the pocket.
29:38Man, those four guys
29:39really need to show up
29:41in these opportunities,
29:42especially second,
29:43third down and long.
29:44Jaden Keller is in
29:45there, linebacker,
29:46rookie from Virginia
29:47Tech, undrafted free
29:48agent.
29:48Allard, second and
29:50long.
29:51Allard does get rid
29:52of it with a rainbow
29:56complete McCreary.
30:00It's a first down
30:02touchdown for Pittsburgh.
30:03Yeah, this is definitely
30:05a rainbow.
30:06McGregor's real close
30:07here.
30:08Swiping this football.
30:10Good concentration
30:11by Allard, but, man,
30:13good job.
30:14Man, just gets the
30:15toe in, too,
30:16catching that football.
30:17I mean, not a lot of room
30:19for as high as that ball
30:20was.
30:20Steelers operating
30:21quickly here, drifting,
30:23and he bounces it
30:25at the feet of the
30:27intended target.
30:28So, Allard will take
30:30the incompletion.
30:31It was Heidenreich
30:34who was in the area,
30:36and Allard having a tough
30:37time hearing the call
30:40from the O.C.
30:44Brian Angelico
30:47working with Mike
30:48McCarthy for Pittsburgh.
30:56Line of scrimmage is the
30:5819.
31:02That's a running play.
31:03Hopstep Heidenreich.
31:05Seventh-round draft pick
31:07from Navy to your pickup.
31:09Again, we talked about
31:10this throw.
31:11I mean, just kind of
31:12airs it up.
31:12You feel like you got time.
31:14The defenders kind of get
31:15lost, but really good job
31:17toe-tapping there
31:18by McCree.
31:20Again, a rookie,
31:21undrafted rookie out of
31:21U.S.C.
31:23It's a nice job.
31:24Good connection.
31:25I mean, it's about
31:25making plays.
31:26Receivers, tight ends,
31:28got to make catches like
31:29that, and just
31:30understanding where you're
31:31on the field as a young
31:32player, that's going to be
31:33a positive in the meetings.
31:35Now a third down and
31:36eight for Pittsburgh.
31:36We're down to seven
31:37minutes to go on the
31:38third.
31:40Allard steps up,
31:42and Allard gets sacked.
31:45Chase Wilson.
31:48The rookie from West
31:50Virginia brings down
31:52the rookie from Penn State.
31:57That's a good job.
31:58You see him in the middle
31:58of your screen here.
31:59They're just going to run
32:00a little two-backer blitz,
32:02and no one picks him up.
32:03He's able to get through.
32:05Obviously, you always see
32:06protection problems from
32:07the backup, some of those
32:09younger players in on
32:10offense, but they take
32:11advantage of it.
32:12They pick up one, but not
32:13the second, and you've got
32:14to get home, and Wilson
32:15does a good job of that.
32:17It is Marjan from 44 yards
32:21away.
32:22No good.
32:29No points for Pittsburgh.
32:33Laith Marjan, the rookie from
32:36Kansas, couldn't convert.
32:46CBS Tuesday, October 6th, and
32:48NCIS legend returns.
32:51LL Cool J and Scott Kahn pair up
32:54in a new city with a new edge.
32:56NCIS New York series premiere
32:58Tuesday, October 6th, and
32:59streaming on Paramount+.
33:02Got a new quarterback for the Jets.
33:05It's Bailey Zappi.
33:076 of 10 last week, 55 yards,
33:10two interceptions in that
33:11loss to Tampa Bay.
33:13So that'll close the book on
33:14Klubnik.
33:1510 of 14 for 75 yards, a long
33:18of 14, and a 16-yard rush.
33:21Zappi stepping through, and it's
33:24dropped by Scott.
33:27Hit his hands, but he also got
33:30plastered immediately on the play
33:32by Spears Jennings.
33:36Off-angle throw here, coming back
33:37to the back, and you know, when
33:39you're catching a ball in space,
33:40you just feel like you've got some
33:41room, and you don't when a
33:42defender comes up and knots you
33:44at the point of the catch here.
33:45And Zappi's a guy that obviously
33:47wants a little redemption.
33:48After last week, two turnovers,
33:51one of them probably more on him,
33:52the other one coming off the
33:54receiver's hands, but just coming
33:55out, looking a little crisper, and
33:57just showing his professionalism
33:58as a guy that's played in this
33:59league.
34:00Yeah, that receiver was Arian
34:01Smith, as the ball deflected off
34:04of him, and Zappi got picked
34:06off.
34:06Sam Scott galloping with a flag
34:09down.
34:12Scott hit the 40-yard line.
34:14Penalty marker is tossed at the
34:1636.
34:20Hold him back.
34:22Offense number 88.
34:24Ten-yard pony from the previous
34:25spot.
34:26Second down.
34:27And it's Cam Camper, the wide
34:30receiver.
34:30Come on, Cam.
34:31Can't be doing that.
34:34We taught him better on the edge.
34:36I am Cam Camper, a young player,
34:37one of my guys.
34:39But again, listen, when you're
34:40coming out, he's known for your
34:41blocking.
34:42You can't hug, right?
34:43And when they try to release, just
34:44like they did on the other side of
34:47the football, you've got to let him
34:48go.
34:48You can't grab.
34:49Get your hands inside.
34:50Young player gets an opportunity to
34:52squeeze that down.
34:53That's a big run opportunity miss.
34:55Played for you in Orlando in the
34:56UFL.
34:57Zappi puts some air under it.
34:59Trying to break away is Skinner.
35:01And he gets brought down by the ankles
35:05by Daryl Porter.
35:11Clubnick saw a lot more action this
35:13week compared to last week.
35:14The surprise start last week when it
35:17was announced that Geno Smith was
35:19dealing with an ankle issue.
35:21Multiple series for Clubnick from the
35:25first quarter into the third quarter.
35:29And for the Jets, what does that look
35:30like for him to win the second
35:32quarterback spot?
35:33I think those are the things you're
35:34battling each and every day in
35:37week.
35:39They're down in 15.
35:40Zappi.
35:42It's going to be well short.
35:43Catch made by Chase Curtis.
35:47Rookie tight end from TCU.
35:49And the punting unit will come on for
35:52New York.
35:52Austin McNamara.
35:57So a penalty really set the Jets back
36:00on this possession.
36:02McNamara will kick it away for the
36:04fourth time tonight.
36:06Legion is the deep man standing at
36:09the 15 for Pittsburgh.
36:17Legion's the rookie out of Iowa.
36:20Fourth round draft pick.
36:22Hauls it into the 22.
36:24Legion's got some space.
36:26A zigzag.
36:28And he's tackled at the 35-yard line.
36:31That's where the Steelers will set up
36:34shop after the 42-yard kick.
36:35A 13-yard return.
36:38Hennessey, the snapper, along with
36:40Trenum, making the play.
36:46Flight Club Hub is the one-stop shop
36:48for Jets Flight Club members.
36:50Download the official Jets app now
36:52to get the most out of your season
36:54ticket membership.
36:58Steelers have the football at their own
37:0135.
37:04It is the rookie quarterback Drew Aller in there
37:09for Pittsburgh.
37:10Caleb Johnson gets the carry.
37:11And Johnson is ridden down short of the 40-yard line.
37:16Picks up two and a half on the play.
37:20And Mazi Smith, former Dallas Cowboy,
37:23in on that stop.
37:25He's back.
37:26He's been injured during training camp.
37:27Gets an opportunity now to get back on the field
37:29as he's getting healthy.
37:31So no points for Pittsburgh.
37:33They've had a couple of opportunities.
37:35Two interceptions from the Jets defense.
37:40Aller facing a second down and seven.
37:45Motion man Lance Mason.
37:47Aller gets devoured.
37:50Three Jets in the area.
37:52Nate Lynn, first man there.
37:57Out of William and Mary, the tribe has spoken.
38:03He's coming off the edge here.
38:04This is a nice job.
38:05Just working the rip technique.
38:07He's able to beat the tackle off the football.
38:09And.
