01:42Well, it was mainly about actually continuing in Formula One.
01:47But, yeah, the rules are slowly getting a bit better.
01:49And, let's say, I'm willing to live with it.
01:54And, hopefully, you know, by 2030, it opens up another opportunity, potentially, with V8 engines coming in to look again.

02:08This is the last Dutch Grand Prix for the moment.
02:10What aspect of this weekend, your home race, are you looking forward to most?
02:16I mean, seeing the fans next to the track, I think, is always very special.
02:22They're very close in places, so it's really nice.
02:25And then, besides that, of course, yeah, just driving the layout.
02:29I mean, it's a really cool track.

02:33It's unfortunate for Isaac to be missing this race.
02:36Can you give us your thoughts on Liam returning to the team?
02:40What are you expecting from him?
02:42Yeah, I mean, I also got the news only on Tuesday.
02:46So, yeah, I hope, of course, that he can recover quickly with the race.
02:51And then, yeah, for Liam to jump in.
02:54Yeah, I mean, it doesn't help that it's a sprint weekend.
02:57But I saw him quickly at the simulator as well.

03:27Yeah, obviously, I think Graham has done a tremendous part in bringing Cadillac where it is now, together with GM
03:36and Dan.
03:39And, yeah, I think he's part of the history of the team.
03:43And I wish him well on whatever comes next.
03:47And I think on Marcin, I think it's really exciting.
03:53At the same time, you know, when you have a new leader and see his new perspective.
04:00I haven't been spending much time with him, but I think it was time to change.
04:10And I think it shows that although it's only our first year, Cadillac is really willing to move forward this
04:18team as quickly as possible.
04:20And we hope that with the new leadership that that can come soon.
04:25Is there one area that you would like Marcin to focus on?
04:28Well, I think being a new team, there's a lot of areas.
04:32You know, I think as a leader, you can look at all these different departments with your experience and guide
04:39them.
04:39You know, it's what we are all expecting from Marcin, that he will guide us into the next level.
04:45And we are all really exciting about it.
04:48And we've just heard about Max committing to Red Bull Racing.
04:52What can you tell us about your future 2027, more Cadillac?
04:55Well, from my side, it was already clear when I came here.
05:02It was a two-year deal, but obviously I see this as my project and I want to be part
05:11of Cadillac for the long term.
05:12You know, because when you start something from scratch, it requires a lot of time.
05:17So, I'm really happy here and I look forward to continue for the long term here.
05:22I think there will be some discussions later on and we'll see what happens.

05:47Yeah, I mean, Yuki, I mean, for sure it's going to be an interesting weekend for him.
05:54You know, these cars are very different and it's going to be a sprint weekend, not the easiest track.
05:58So, for sure, I'll try to help him where I can to get up to speed.
06:04But I think, you know, yeah, I don't know him super well.
06:08We haven't really crossed paths before, but we've always been friendly.
06:10So, it should be a nice weekend together.
06:13And was there a discussion at all about you taking the seat at Red Bull Racing alongside Max for this

06:30You had a great run coming into the summer break.
06:33Did you want the break or did you just want to continue race?
06:36Honestly, I mean, I was quite happy just to keep going.
06:40I've been enjoying myself the last few races before the break and I had a good momentum.
06:45So, I would have been happy to do a few more.
06:47But at the same time, it still has been quite a busy start to the year.
06:51So, it's always nice to have a break.
06:53But I feel well sort of recharged now and I'm really looking forward to tackling this weekend.
06:59And in terms of performance, what are your hopes for here at Zandvoort?
07:04I think it should be similar to what we've been doing, the recent events.
07:08You know, the car is good.
07:10The team have done really, really well to bring performance to it.
07:14It seems pretty robust on all different types of tracks.
07:17We're competitive.
07:18So, I think hopefully more of the same.

07:31Max, I think in your briefing earlier, you said you were more likely to retire than join another team.
07:37Can I take it it never got to the stage where your management presented any firm offers from other teams
07:43to you?
07:43And going on from that, what about Red Bull senior management, the likes of Oliver Minchlaff?
07:49What sort of role did they play in convincing you that they had the same ambitions for the team as
07:56the likes of, obviously, Helmut Marko had previously?
07:59Yeah, well, it's just very open, transparent discussions.
08:03I get on very well with Laurent Oliver, the shareholders in general.
08:06You know, they all, like, for me, this feels like one big family, you know.
08:10So, I'm just very, you know, happy to be a part of that.
08:14And, of course, over the last few months, you know, you talk about the team moving forward, the coming years,
08:21plans, ideas.
08:22So, it's always been, yeah, communicated to me in a very open way.
08:25And that's what I like.
08:26And I like what they're trying to achieve.
08:29And that's why I also, you know, want to be part of it in the future.

11:53Max, you just said it's going to be the last Dutch Grand Prix for the foreseeable future.
11:58Not even just because it's your home race, but as it's an old school, classic track, what will we miss
12:05out on in the upcoming years?
12:09I think, yeah, just the history around here, big, well, big amount of fans in general that love motorsport.
12:20And, yeah, the track, you know, it's a cool layout.
12:22It's definitely very rewarding if you get it right.
12:26Yeah, like you said before, it's proper old school driving.
12:29It's definitely one of the best tracks on the calendar compared to, yeah, some tracks that we go to now
12:37that are, you know, some of them, I'm not going to name names, but they lack a bit of character.
12:43So, yeah, it's definitely going to be missed, for sure, you know, it's always been really fun to drive, even
12:49if I would not be Dutch, you know, to drive here would have been always amazing.
12:53And, of course, for me, being Dutch, it made it that extra bit special.

13:16George, perhaps we could start with you and start with some congratulations on your engagement.

13:26Yeah, no, it was very special.
13:31And it was a really nice time to do it, and, you know, a lot of thought went into it.
13:35And it was a really interesting process, sort of designing the ring and doing all of that.
13:39And I thought, you know, when I came to the moment, I could actually get my words out.
13:43It was like, I suddenly got really nervous when it was on one knee.
13:46But, no, it was great.
13:48So, thank you.
13:49And were you able to switch off from Formula One completely during the break?
13:53Yeah, fairly, to be honest.
13:54You know, it's, especially coming into the second half of the season now, it's going to be very intense for
13:59us all.
13:59So, just really making the most of those two weeks, and, obviously, I had that on my mind for the
14:06first 10 days of the break.
14:08So, that was great.
14:10Look, what about where we're at now?
14:13Do you see this as turning the page?
14:16How important is this weekend at Zanvoort, just to get things started on the right foot?
14:22Yeah, I mean, I think every race weekend now is going to be very important.
14:25You want to build that momentum.
14:28Obviously, we've got a number of tripleheaders coming into the last part of the year.
14:32We're only just at the halfway point.
14:34So, you know, just continue to keep working.
14:36It was, there was a good phase in the middle of the first half.
14:41And then the last three races were tough for different reasons.
14:44But just looking forward to starting again and trying to get back into a good groove.
14:49Good groove.
14:50Do you think that requires you doing anything differently in the cockpit?
14:55I think we'll see.
14:56You know, I don't want to overthink it too much.
14:58I just want to sort of trust in my ability and drive a little bit more instinctively.
15:03And maybe that's what I hadn't been doing before the break.
15:07And I think, yeah, just going in with an open mind and see where it takes me.
15:11So, the championship, you're 59 points behind your teammate.
15:15How do you approach the title fight now?
15:19I'm not really thinking about it.
15:20Just taking it race by race.
15:21I know I need to improve the performance if I want to be in the fight.
15:25So, that's the main priority.
15:27And if the performance improves and the points reduce, and it's as simple as that, really.
15:32Okay.

15:45You scored your first points of the year last time out in Hungary.
15:48How confident are you of getting on a point-scoring run now?
15:53Well, we'll see.
15:54But it was obviously good to get that done.
15:56You know, we've battled through some difficult moments at the start of the season.
16:00But, yeah, kept it together.
16:02And I think we, you know, we have a competitive good package now to fight the midfield.
16:07Project a tight, tough battle with the racing balls, with the Alpines, maybe some other teams sometimes.
16:14But, yeah, the ambition, the goal is to obviously score frequently, more consistent.
16:19But I'm generally happy with the progress we've made this year.
16:23And I feel, you know, we've grown as a team in many areas, done some big improvements already.
16:28Obviously, there's always more and more things to work on, more things to improve.
16:32But the trend and the trajectory is positive in the right direction.
16:36You say it's a good package.
16:38Just how much potential does this car have?
16:41Yeah, it's got potential.
16:42Look, everyone is pushing.
16:43Everyone is, you know, developing, bringing updates.
16:45And obviously, we, you know, we're a new team on the power unit side.
16:49Everything from scratch.
16:50We're also only two cars, you know, whereas many others have obviously multiple cars that they supply.
16:57So, take maybe a bit more time.
17:00But we definitely have, you know, a lot more potential and room for improvement there.
17:05We know that many of these topics are a bit more long-term and quite focused already on next year
17:10as well.
17:11What type of circuit suits the car best at the moment?
17:18I think we were quite good aerodynamically.
17:21I think here on paper and in Budapest are not bad tracks for us.
17:26But to be honest, if you look back now, the last five, six venues, we've been always competitive, at least
17:33with one car.
17:35So, there's no specific track, really.
17:38And you mentioned a moment ago about the improvements you've made in the team.
17:41Can I ask you about your role in the team?
17:44Do you feel that you are more than just a racing driver for Audi?
17:48Do you get consulted on bigger picture stuff?
17:51Yeah, I think both drivers, you know, are always important to give direction,
17:54to give, you know, the important feedback where it's crucial, where to focus on,
17:59and to give direction for the team.
18:01You know, I think that's the case in every team.
18:05There's no exception for us.
18:07So, you know, both Gabby and I are working hard and trying to contribute and do as much as we
18:12can to help move forward.
18:14Okay, Nico, thank you for that.
18:16Lando, if we could come to you now.
18:17How was the break for you?
18:20It was good.
18:21It was nice.
18:23Yeah, I just spent the whole time with my friends, traveling quite a bit, doing different things.
18:28So, yeah, well needed, for sure.
18:32Now, on track, you won the most recent race in Hungary.
18:36Just how much confidence does that result give you coming here to Zandvoort?
18:41I mean, for myself, for the whole team, quite a bit.
18:46I'm always, yeah, I'm never the guy who gets too far ahead of myself.
18:49So, you know, I'm not going to come in here thinking that we should just win the race again.
18:53But our goals are set high.
18:56So, we want to believe.
18:59I think, you know, with the new parts we had, with the new floor we had in Budapest, we just
19:03need to understand if it's just brought performance everywhere, every track, every type of surface, all types of corners, whether
19:12it was more specific to there.
19:13So, I think we're still patient with understanding how much performance that really brought us.
19:19But it was clear we took a step forward.
19:21And that's a good sign.
19:22So, we still want to believe we can be very competitive here.
19:25And you think the layout of this racetrack will suit you?
19:30I mean, in some ways, it's not too different to Budapest, but it's also different in different ways.
19:36With the wind, conditions, obviously much colder.
19:39So, we have to just wait and see.
19:44I think it was clear.
19:45So, what the weaknesses are of the car, what was better with the car.
19:51But the performance we had on Sunday, especially, was probably almost a better performance than we had at any point
19:57last year.
19:58So, I think it still shows that we can kind of ebb and flow and still be a little bit
20:04more inconsistent than we were at times last season.
20:07We're still trying to understand everything perfectly with the car.
20:09But it's a track that I've enjoyed, I've always liked, and we performed well here as a team in the
20:15past.
20:15So, I'm hoping this weekend is the same again.
20:18Now, George has given us his thoughts on the championship.
20:20Can you give us yours?
20:22You're less than 100 points behind Antonelli, which is closer than Max was to Oscar at this stage last year.
20:29What are your thoughts of retaining the world title now?
20:36Less than 100.
20:37Less than 100 points behind Antonelli, which is very good.
20:39Yeah.
20:43Honestly, I only ever think of it when you guys talk about it, when you ask questions about it.
20:48I've not thought about it once this season, especially after the first couple of races.
20:53And there's just no point in thinking about it for a long time just yet.
20:57I didn't think about it in Budapest, and I worked out well, so I just continue to do the same.

21:12You've both been with one team a long time, or a driving program a long time.
21:17Just wondering, in your case, Lando, whether there was ever any realistic prospect of Max
21:21joining McLaren.
21:22There were some talks.
21:23And for you, George, was it ever an irritation, the constant narrative, which is over now,
21:27of Max to Mercedes?
21:35Yeah, I mean, similar to what Lando mentioned before about it's only really a topic for us
21:41when you're sat in front of you guys in the press and you want to ask these questions and
21:47to understand what's going on.
21:49It was always very clear from within Mercedes what the reality was over these past couple
21:57of years.
21:58And, you know, maybe that those conversations were slightly more public than the conversations,
22:04you know, his team were having with the likes of McLaren or Ferrari or whoever else it may
22:09have been.
22:10And so that's just the nature of the sport.
22:12Drivers talk with different teams, teams talk with different drivers.
22:16Everyone has to just see what their cards are.
22:19But, yeah, my seat never felt under threat.
22:24And I felt 100% security with Toto and the team.
22:27And that obviously now continues.
22:34What was the question?
22:37Do you ever think, give much thought to him joining McLaren?
22:41Because there were talks.
22:42We heard about that.
22:43I never heard much more than what you guys did.
22:46So, I mean, I welcome anyone to be my teammate.
22:51Of course, a guy who's won as many world championships as he has.
22:54A guy who, yeah, is as talented as him.
23:00Would always be called to have as a teammate one day.
23:02But I know also because my teammate for still quite a while, yeah.
23:07So, I know nothing is changing.

23:15George, you were talking about standing and championship before.
23:20But considering that your team want to win both titles this year,
23:25would you be ready to accept any team order at some point
23:29and maybe help your teammate?
23:33Not even consideration at the moment.
23:36You know, it's not even halfway through.
23:38And, you know, we need to just keep on pushing as a team.
23:43We're behind the curve of development.
23:46Our rivals have definitely brought their upgrades before us.
23:49And I think it will be very interesting when we bring our upgrades,
23:55when they will be, how that impacts our performance.
23:58And I'm hoping that will, you know, push us more to the results we were seeing
24:03more consistently at the start of the year.
24:05Of course, we've continued to perform very strongly.
24:10However, the teams like McLaren, Red Bull, Ferrari have been really, really close
24:15and given a really good fight recently.
24:17So, you know, at the moment, it's just business as usual.

24:25Lando, first of all, tan looks good.
24:28Definitely wearing it very well.
24:30Second, obviously, you've got some good, some bad memories here in Zandvoort.
24:34How disappointed are you that we're not going to be seeing it on the calendar anymore?
24:40I guess, yeah, pretty disappointed because I like just the event itself, the fans,
24:47although most of them are here for one driver.
24:49It's still always just a fun event, good atmosphere, good passion.
24:54And that's what you want.
24:55You know, I prefer going to smaller races where the fans are more exciting
25:00and the event is better than, yeah, a different place where you just have less of that.
25:07So this is definitely up there and a lot better than a lot of the races we have on the
25:11calendar,
25:12even currently.
25:13So it's a shame.
25:16But, yeah, it's also not our choice.
25:18I think if it was a driver's choice, we would probably like to keep it for many people,
25:23I think, in my opinion, especially.
25:24But, yeah, it's not my opinion that that matters.
25:28So a shame.

25:37Your thoughts on the loss of this race, Nico?
25:41Yeah, very similar.
25:42I mean, I've raced here a lot in junior times and, you know, the atmosphere is a bit like in
25:47a club
25:47and it's like a real festival kind of character thing.
25:51And I've loved it here the last couple of years.
25:54So, yeah, I'm going to miss it.
25:57Yeah, it's a great track, a lot of characters, so it'll be missed.

26:05Greece, a question for Lando.
26:07Lando, you said you needed so much this break.
26:10And from what you were saying also in Hungary,
26:12it seemed that you needed more than any of the previous years.
26:15Was it just because of the results?
26:17Because, I guess, you did some very good drives and the car wasn't helping you?
26:22That's the first part.
26:23And the second part is that one of the places you visited was, again, Greece.
26:26Where did you go?
26:27What did you like about that country?
26:30Yeah.
26:31I mean, a brake's always good.
26:33But, honestly, the brakes are more important for the team than they are for myself.
26:40The drivers have generally more time than the team do in terms of days off and things.
26:45So, I think we're the lucky ones.
26:48But I believe that as a team, we want time.
26:52Time is still what we need the most of currently.
26:56And I think we've proved that over the last couple of months in the progression of us.
27:03And if we can use that, it's definitely on our side.
27:06Because I'm confident we can continue to improve and outperform our competitors in development and results in the long term.
27:16So, I think time is a good thing for all of us.
27:19And that's certainly what we had a little bit of.
27:22But also for me, because I enjoy just my life outside of Formula 1.
27:25Formula 1 is the main thing of my life.
27:28But I also enjoy just being with my friends and enjoying things outside.
27:32So, it was beautiful.
27:35Yeah, I did quite a bit of, I was almost one week in Greece.
27:38So, just travel around from Athens all the way to Cephalonia, which is beautiful.
27:45There's a lot of beautiful little places, beautiful coves to go swim.
27:48And when you're with a good group of friends, then I think there's not many places better in the world.

28:03You said you still need to figure some things out as a team, obviously.
28:07But what factors are there that make you feel positive that you can put on a fight with Ferrari and
28:13Mercedes, especially in the second half of the season?
28:17What are the factors?
28:20McLaren is the team I'm with.
28:23That's the biggest factor.
28:25The people we have, what we've achieved over the last few years.
28:31And the leadership we have within the team from, I guess, part of it from myself, but also from Andrea,
28:37from Zach, the team leaders within McLaren.
28:41Just everyone's very, everyone's just in a very, very good mindset at the minute.
28:45And in the mindset you need to, you need and you have to have to fight against the best in
28:51the world in terms of all the teams and drivers.
28:54And to fight for world championships.
28:57So my team give me plenty of reassurance.
28:59And also, if I drive as well as I did in Budapest, and I have done for a lot of
29:03this season, then I'm very confident in myself too.

30:08And, you know, it was, I don't think it changes a huge amount because she's been such an important person

30:16So it was just more, you know, making that next step that we needed to do.
