00:00:00They all bring a certain set of skills
00:00:01and they all are very impactful
00:00:03throughout this training camp.
00:00:05Fourth down and four, Denver only 38 total yards
00:00:07this quarter and one first down.
00:00:10Jared Stidham
00:00:12with a fourth and four,
00:00:14they need the Green Bay 36.
00:00:17Here comes the rush,
00:00:19deep throw, down field.
00:00:21Little Jordan Humphrey.
00:00:22There was contact, it's incomplete.
00:00:25The coverage by Jalen Simpson
00:00:27having a good camp, competing at that quarterback.
00:00:30He struggled last week at Pittsburgh,
00:00:34but he is in the running for the final 53.
00:00:38Pulls his hand back there,
00:00:40as you can see on the replay,
00:00:41to try and minimize that contact.
00:00:44Now the next step is to try
00:00:46and get your head around as well.
00:00:48That will completely eliminate
00:00:50the possibility of a flag there.
00:00:51Nonetheless, he was sticky
00:00:52with that wide receiver down the field.
00:00:54That's what you want to see out of your secondary.
00:00:57New quarterback for Green Bay
00:00:59will be Kyle McCord.
00:01:02And they love the way he handled
00:01:04the pressure last week at Pittsburgh.
00:01:06We mentioned that Kyron Drones
00:01:07was cut this week.
00:01:09Rookie free agent
00:01:10out of Virginia Tech.
00:01:11It's first and ten.
00:01:12This is a two-minute drill
00:01:13and he goes inside.
00:01:14Quick slant.
00:01:15Caught by J. Michael Sturdivant.
00:01:17As he gets a first down throw,
00:01:19the completion to the 49.
00:01:21Picks up, make it a gain of eight.
00:01:23They push him back.
00:01:23I thought maybe he had enough.
00:01:24No, it's second down and two.
00:01:27A timeout has been taken.
00:01:29Eight-yard pickup through the air.
00:01:33Looks like Sturdivant's a little
00:01:35due to the injury.
00:01:37A little digged up coming out.
00:01:39Offense, the second of the half.
00:01:41It'll be 30 seconds in length.
00:01:43He's been impressive.
00:01:44He's been making plays in camp
00:01:46and that is unfortunate for him, John.
00:01:48It is unfortunate with him
00:01:50because, quite frankly, Kevin,
00:01:52they got a lot of young wide receivers
00:01:54that they like between Sturdivant,
00:01:56between Nair, between Shepard.
00:01:57There's a lot of guys
00:01:58that they'd like to keep around here,
00:02:00but you know it's stacked there
00:02:02at the top six.
00:02:03As we mentioned,
00:02:04Bo Melton,
00:02:04as we mentioned Savion Williams,
00:02:07Sky Moore is a part of this whole
00:02:09equation going forward.
00:02:10And all three of these guys
00:02:11they'd like to keep.
00:02:12There's a spot on practice squad.
00:02:14There's multiple spots on practice squad.
00:02:16And it's a battle right now
00:02:17for which one's going to potentially
00:02:19be a seventh wide receiver
00:02:20and how many they can actually
00:02:21keep in clean back.
00:02:23Remember how impressive McCord was
00:02:25in the two-minute drill
00:02:26at Pittsburgh last week
00:02:27which resulted in a 58-yard field goal.
00:02:30Second down two outside.
00:02:31The twirling catch made by Will Shepard.
00:02:34And he gets a first down.
00:02:35He goes to the 46 of Denver.
00:02:38It's a gain of five.
00:02:39And the clock continues to tick.
00:02:42It's first and ten
00:02:43The Packers have a single timeout.
00:02:46Strong the back.
00:02:47Strong on first and ten.
00:02:48Hits the call with a stiff arm
00:02:50and a drive.
00:02:51And a flag.
00:02:52And he gets about nine.
00:02:53Let's see where they stop him
00:02:56at the 38 of Denver.
00:02:57Gain of eight right there.
00:03:00Yeah, hold you thing, John?
00:03:02Face mask.
00:03:03It looked like crap.
00:03:04Face mask.
00:03:05Let's watch.
00:03:06It was.
00:03:07Haley will block in the back.
00:03:09Offense number 80.
00:03:11Ten-yard penalty.
00:03:11First down.
00:03:13Because clearly Skinner got his face mask.
00:03:17Yeah, that could have been off sending penalties
00:03:19and just a replay of a down right there.
00:03:21But Isaiah Nair, the only one getting caught right there.
00:03:24And when you're out there on the perimeter,
00:03:25it's a dogfight.
00:03:26You got to know when the fight is done.
00:03:28John Pierre-Strong does a good job getting out there.
00:03:31And Isaiah Nair just gets caught being a little bit too handsy
00:03:34at the end of that play.
00:03:35Spot foul.
00:03:36First and 14.
00:03:39Brooks the back.
00:03:40And what a catch.
00:03:41Lock showed right there by Nair.
00:03:43Right in front of Abrams train.
00:03:46Lunges for the catch.
00:03:47Down to the 41.
00:03:48Picks up nine.
00:03:49Second down five.
00:03:51What a grab.
00:03:52And again, the range of these young wide receivers.
00:03:54They're all tall.
00:03:55They're all lanky.
00:03:55They're all able to go up and get the football.
00:03:57And here goes that young quarterback.
00:03:59And he almost throws a pick that time
00:04:01as Kyle McCord was aiming downfield.
00:04:06It's incomplete.
00:04:07And Carly, third and five coming up.
00:04:09What do you have for us at halftime?
00:04:11Yeah, hey, Kevin.
00:04:12We will meet this year's rookie class.
00:04:14Get to know them on and off the field.
00:04:16And then highlights and stats from an eventful first half
00:04:19that's coming up at halftime.
00:04:21We'll look forward to that.
00:04:24Carly, thank you very much.
00:04:25Third down and five.
00:04:35Receiver is running down.
00:04:37The ball went outside.
00:04:39Caden Prather was in his sights.
00:04:42But somebody was confused here.
00:04:45Quarterback or receiver.
00:04:46I'm not sure which.
00:04:46Well, it was a combination
00:04:48because the quarterback didn't have time.
00:04:50The running back here, strong, started his release.
00:04:53They brought both inside linebackers,
00:04:55both the line and the backs guy.
00:04:57With the back not being there, they had too many men to pick up.
00:05:00McCord had to get rid of that ball to ensure not taking a sack
00:05:03so that they could attempt this field goal.
00:05:05Boy, now they're going for a long one.
00:05:0759-yard field goal try
00:05:10by smack, little wind, and he's got the aim, and he's cut the ball through.
00:05:1859-yard field goal by the rookie.
00:05:21This is a position.
00:05:24He is the fifth kicker in the past three years, and he just drills a beautiful 59-yard field goal.
00:05:34Kevin, and they all are straight down the middle.
00:05:37If you took a penny and threw it in the air in between those two goal posts, he'd hit it
00:05:43like a sharpshooter.
00:05:44He kicked two 58-yard field goals last week in Pittsburgh.
00:05:49No other visiting kicker in that stadium since it opened in 2001.
00:05:54No visiting kicker in that stadium in Pittsburgh had ever kicked a field goal longer than 50 yards.
00:06:01He had two last week from 58, and tonight he's got a 51-yarder and a 59-yard field goal.
00:06:09He's got to be having a lot of fun right now, Kevin.
00:06:12This has got to be a lot of fun.
00:06:13Well, he's not real, right?
00:06:17Wow, that is something else.
00:06:19Here's a team which has been searching for a kicker for the last handful of years.
00:06:23Mason Crosby set such a standard, and they've gone through so many young kickers, a lot of rookies, and he's
00:06:30a rookie, but he, by the way,
00:06:32he was the only kicker drafted in this past draft.
00:06:35And he's a different kind of rookie.
00:06:37Matt LaFleur said he's a dude.
00:06:39Now, what exactly does he mean?
00:06:41Well, I'm going to assume that means he's one of these guys that can, he's here for the moment, and
00:06:46he can handle the pressure.
00:06:48Here's the ensuing kickoff.
00:06:50And this will be taken by Colby Texas.
00:06:54And then he has brought down a couple guys on the play, got him.
00:06:59And some celebrating there by Aaron Mosby, who has made this team the last couple years with his special teams
00:07:06play.
00:07:07And Christian Welsh, again, gets in on the tackle.
00:07:10I mean, it's become a broken record here on special teams with some of these guys, but there's a reason
00:07:16why they've lasted five, six, seven years in the National Football League.
00:07:19Denver's got two timeouts.
00:07:21Jarrett Stidham remains the quarterback.
00:07:25And the Packers have five in the secondary, and it's first and ten for Denver.
00:07:30Stidham.
00:07:31Oh, boy, it was picked off!
00:07:33Trapped on the play!
00:07:34Mark Perry!
00:07:36He led the team in tackles in Pittsburgh last week, and he comes up with a pick, and that was
00:07:42on the priority list for Jonathan Gannon.
00:07:45Getting takeaways, the Packers, who were 27 in interceptions last year, come up with a nice interception in Denver territory.
00:07:56Yeah, and how do you cause those interceptions?
00:07:58Your eyes have got to be in the right place.
00:08:01Perry just watching this quarterback, knowing he's trying to get a drive start here.
00:08:05Look at him.
00:08:06Fakes outside, comes back inside to his field zone, stares him down.
00:08:10I don't know if Stidham even saw Perry in the equation.
00:08:17He's undrafted, he's out of TCU.
00:08:21He's never had a regular season snap in the NFL, trying to make his stamp here in the preseason.
00:08:27So he has six tackles and leads him last week, and he has a pick tonight.
00:08:31He let him in tackles last night.
00:08:32He had a couple nice pass breakups as well.
00:08:34One at the back line last week to keep a touchdown off the board.
00:08:38So Mark Perry doing it again this week.
00:08:42Kyle McCord, the quarterback.
00:08:45From Syracuse, and swings it to the side and incomplete, and looking for Keyshawn Johnson.
00:08:52He was signed last week.
00:08:55He's out of Western Kentucky.
00:08:58Keyshawn Johnson incomplete, second down and ten.
00:09:01You know, I know that ball was high, and when he gets his fundamentals down, most specifically his feet,
00:09:07that ball be more accurate.
00:09:08But what I like is he's coming to the line of scrimmage here in a two-minute drill with a
00:09:12plan pre-snapping.
00:09:14And he's trying to execute that plan.
00:09:17It's second down and ten.
00:09:20To the sideline again.
00:09:21Bobbled in front.
00:09:23It's incomplete.
00:09:24And Nair couldn't hold on to it.
00:09:26Fighting for one of the final two wide receiver positions on the roster.
00:09:34It's a frame over there with the coverage.
00:09:36Safe to say we're well within smack's range at this point in time.
00:09:40He can kick it from Boulder and be okay.
00:09:47Here is a third and ten.
00:09:50Back is a timeout.
00:09:53And to the air.
00:09:54Quick hitter.
00:09:55And they cut inside.
00:09:57And inside the 25.
00:09:59The crab is made by Will Shepard.
00:10:02Gain of nine.
00:10:03Fourth and one.
00:10:05And the clock is ticking.
00:10:07And let's see what Green Bay does.
00:10:09Looks like they're going to go right down to the final couple seconds.
00:10:12And go for a 43-yard field goal.
00:10:18So, McCord has done it again.
00:10:20He's gotten them with a couple nice plays.
00:10:23And had he play a quarterback.
00:10:25And in field goal range once again.
00:10:27This set up on the interception by Mark Perry.
00:10:30And to some extent, you would say that Kyle McCord last week impressed the coaches.
00:10:35And not that they didn't expect him.
00:10:40Not that they didn't expect him to go out there and do well.
00:10:43But how he handled the situation.
00:10:45And some of his throws were at a higher level than what they even thought he had progressed to so
00:10:50far during training camp.
00:10:51So, Kyle McCord coming in this week once again.
00:10:55Looks calm.
00:10:56Looks like he has a plan.
00:10:57And looks like he's executing that plan.
00:10:59Kyle Otomitis is the long snapper.
00:11:01Remember, Matt Orzek is injured with a cap injury.
00:11:05He is on the pup list.
00:11:08So, this will be a 43-yard field goal try.
00:11:14After kicking a 59-yarder moments ago.
00:11:19Trey Smank.
00:11:22Perfect.
00:11:25And that's how the half ends.
00:11:27And now, the rookie kicker, Smank, has kicked it from 43, 59, and 51 yards.
00:11:34They got a two-yard touchdown pass tailored to Shepard.
00:11:38And they began the game with Lovethay controls.
00:11:41The opening drive.
00:11:42An 11-yard touchdown catch and run by running back Marshawn Lloyd.
00:11:48Packers, 13 points in the final three minutes and seven seconds of the half.
00:11:52And that kicker right now, he's just got to be feeling so confident and so great because
00:11:57every single one of these kicks, right down the avenue.
00:12:01Touchdowns.
00:12:01What impressed you?
00:12:03Well, just the whole operation.
00:12:05I thought he was poised.
00:12:06He was making the right decisions.
00:12:07And it was a collective effort.
00:12:09I was happy with everybody.
00:12:10The preseason is special for guys like Will Shepard.
00:12:13What do you think of that touchdown grab?
00:12:15Well, we've been talking about it quite a bit.
00:12:17Just making sure we get our feet in bounds.
00:12:19And, I mean, it was just by a sliver, but it counts.
00:12:23Thanks so much.
00:12:24Good luck in the second.
00:12:24Thank you.
00:12:27Carly, thank you very much.
00:12:30As we get this second half underway.
00:12:35Next week, the Arizona Cardinals come to Lambeau Field.
00:12:38Joint practices midweek with the Cardinals.
00:12:42One thing that John and I talked about heading into this game was the fact that the opponent
00:12:48tonight is really amongst the elite teams in the league.
00:12:52That cannot be said about the Cardinals.
00:12:54No, and they traded some blows early on in this game.
00:12:57And this will be the last real preseason game action that the starters get going into next week.
00:13:04They'll use the joint practice as their game, more of a controlled environment.
00:13:07They'll get their work in.
00:13:09They'll put their installs in.
00:13:10But then next week, it'll be all about these back-end fringe players that are looking to make a name
00:13:14for themselves.
00:13:15This is Cameron Ross, who's at a good camp.
00:13:17He's out of the University of Virginia.
00:13:20And he's followed up right there by T.J. Quinn.
00:13:24For the Packers, a rookie free agent out of Louisville.
00:13:2727-yard return, first and 10 Denver.
00:13:29So here we go, second half.
00:13:31Remember last week, the first half, it wasn't as high scoring as this first half was.
00:13:36And really, it was just a clean half, not a lot of penalties.
00:13:39We got into the second half and we started seeing some mental breakdowns.
00:13:42We started seeing some penalties.
00:13:44So now it's time for this group that went out there and struggled last week to go out there and
00:13:49put their better foot forward here in this game.
00:13:51Tyler Bidet is the running back.
00:13:53The quarterback remains Jared Stidham.
00:13:56It is first and 10.
00:13:58And Bidet.
00:14:01Someone lost their helmet in there.
00:14:03And that was McClellan, I think, on a gain of three by Bidet.
00:14:08And he's just out beyond the 30.
00:14:13It was McClellan who lost it.
00:14:16He finished up at Missouri.
00:14:18He's a third-round rookie for the Packers.
00:14:21He also played before that at Florida.
00:14:23Had a terrific senior year in college football.
00:14:27Six sacks.
00:14:28And he led all Southeastern Conference defensive tackles in sacks.
00:14:35Second down and seven.
00:14:41And Bidet again.
00:14:44As he tries to get a block for his fullback, Adam Prentice.
00:14:47Had a hole out there.
00:14:49McClellan among a couple.
00:14:50Gain out to the 32 with tonight's third quarter.
00:14:53Brought to you by Construction Business Group and the Operating Engineers.
00:14:56Local 139.
00:14:58That was John Aguina, too.
00:14:59And you talk about the inside presence that McClellan has getting to the quarterback and being able to pressure in
00:15:06that manner.
00:15:06But it's also this facet of his game that the Packers were very intrigued when they drafted him,
00:15:11being able to work down the line of scrimmage.
00:15:14And he didn't necessarily have to beat his man instantly to be impactful on those last two plays.
00:15:19Cornerbacks are Damani Jackson and Jalen Simpson for Green Bay.
00:15:23Third and five.
00:15:24Stidham.
00:15:24With time.
00:15:25And the throw.
00:15:26On the money.
00:15:26Caught by little Jordan Humphrey.
00:15:28Who's brought down by Kamal Haddon.
00:15:31It's a gain of 18 on that third and five.
00:15:35And he's just beyond midfield.
00:15:37And they will not huddle.
00:15:40Well, Jordan Humphrey is a veteran.
00:15:42Played for John Payton down at New Orleans.
00:15:45Here's a handoff and bidet with a flag thrown.
00:15:49And runs out of real estate.
00:15:51And Damani Jackson, a rookie out of Alabama for Green Bay, was there.
00:15:54Offense number 63.
00:15:56Ten-yard penalty.
00:15:57We play first down.
00:15:58That's on the Packers.
00:16:01On Crummety.
00:16:04Oh, it's on Denver.
00:16:05Excuse me.
00:16:06You can see Brenton Cox here.
00:16:08He takes a chance.
00:16:08He slips the tackle on the inside.
00:16:11They might be going big tight end there on that situation.
00:16:14Slips him inside.
00:16:15And again, a change of pace kind of guy.
00:16:18Something that can be very impactful here.
00:16:20Even if you don't make the tackle, you draw the flag.
00:16:22That's a ten-yard loss for the Denver Broncos.
00:16:25Not a loss of down, but a ten-yard loss.
00:16:27All caused because of the explosion that Brenton Cox has.
00:16:30Tyler Bidet is the bat.
00:16:32First down and 20 with the penalty on Denver at the 41.
00:16:35What a play.
00:16:36Shooting through like a torpedo is at.
00:16:40He was an outside cornerback.
00:16:42Now they're playing him in the slot, which is going to be a very interesting position move.
00:16:48And you've got to be able to do a lot of different things from the slot.
00:16:52You've got to be able to play Sam linebacker a little bit in this sub package.
00:16:56You've got to be able to drop back and play a deep third like a safety.
00:16:59And you've got to be able to match up man on mixed downs and be able to play wide receivers
00:17:03one-on-one.
00:17:04Second down and 25, and outside they go.
00:17:07Nice catch by Cameron Ross with the coverage of the play by the rookie Damani Jackson.
00:17:12And he makes the grab, picks up 10.
00:17:14He's out to the 46-yard line.
00:17:17It'll be third down and 15 for Denver.
00:17:22These are the types of downs that you like your defense to be in
00:17:25because you can really dial up anything.
00:17:27You can choose to go after the quarterback, force the ball out of his hands early.
00:17:31You can choose to set back in coverage if you think your front four can get home.
00:17:35And you've got to be all playing on a string, playing on the same playing field together.
00:17:39They're down 15.
00:17:42And Stidham being chased on the play by Kelly.
00:17:46Downfield he goes.
00:17:47And caught on the play by the running back, Tyler Bidet.
00:17:50He picks up only three.
00:17:52He gets to the 49.
00:17:54It'll be fourth down and 12.
00:17:57And the Denver punting unit will take the field.
00:18:01Najalik Kelly is a really interesting edge player here for the Green Bay Packers.
00:18:07Doesn't get spoken about a lot, but he finds a way to get off of his man.
00:18:11He does not stick to blocks very often.
00:18:13Did a good job in the last game with his bend around the corner.
00:18:16And right there you saw a little bit of a hand fight.
00:18:18And then beats his man inside.
00:18:20Crosshaw to putt.
00:18:21He just continues to show up.
00:18:22I'm sorry there, John.
00:18:23Will Shepard is back to get this for the Packers.
00:18:28And he will return it from the 7.
00:18:33And he'll work his way to the 11.
00:18:35Hang time of 4-5-6.
00:18:37A return of 4.
00:18:39On a crosshaw punt of 44 yards.
00:18:44The ball will be at the 12 for Green Bay in what will be their first second-half possession.
00:18:57And we'll step aside.
00:18:59The Packers on top.
00:19:00Putt was on the practice squad for the Eagles last season.
00:19:04Now he's with Green Bay.
00:19:09And he winds up here at the 11.
00:19:12After the Denver punt with the first and 10.
00:19:15And Pierre Strong finds a sliver.
00:19:18Breaks a tackle.
00:19:19And dives his way up to about the 19-yard line.
00:19:23And brought down by Savion Jones out of LSU.
00:19:26A good-looking, swerving run of 8, John.
00:19:29And that was good blocking up front.
00:19:32But it was a great individual effort by Pierre Strong.
00:19:35I counted three broken tackles on that run.
00:19:39And that's what you're looking for out of these running backs right now in this game.
00:19:42Who can take a play, what it's blocked up for, and get the extra yardage?
00:19:47Pierre Strong doing just that.
00:19:49Strong has 34 yards on the ground.
00:19:53Second down and two.
00:19:54Strong again.
00:19:55And he burrows his way for the first down.
00:19:58He's up to the 23.
00:20:00And Carly picks up four yards for a Green Bay first down.
00:20:04Down to you.
00:20:05Yeah, hey, Kevin.
00:20:05I'm standing by with Packers linebacker Zaire Franklin.
00:20:08You guys give up that opening touchdown drive.
00:20:11But a nice response.
00:20:12What's your evaluation of the defense tonight so far?
00:20:16Well, you know, we're just out here trying to, you know, put on tape, you know, what we've been working
00:20:21on.
00:20:22Give up the touchdown on the first drive.
00:20:23But, you know, we was able to get a stop in the red zone a second time.
00:20:26And it felt good to get out there, you know, get some reps in, obviously, against a good team.
00:20:31And, you know, we're going to learn from him to be better next time.
00:20:34Jonathan Gannon told us he's emphasizing takeaways.
00:20:36Was it nice to see Mark Perry make that play?
00:20:39Oh, yeah.
00:20:40I love to see MP make a play on the ball, man.
00:20:42You just know, you know, a guy in that position make a big play at the end of the half.
00:20:48And Trey just, he's nailing all the kicks, man.
00:20:50It's great to see.
00:20:50Yeah, you guys have your kicker.
00:20:52You're new to Green Bay.
00:20:53What do you want Packer fans to know about you?
00:20:56Just that, you know, I love the game.
00:20:58I do anything for my teammates.
00:21:00You know, my favorite thing is being a teammate.
00:21:02And I just look forward to giving everything I got on the football field and in the community.
00:21:06And you bring that edge and energy, right?
00:21:09Yeah, a little bit.
00:21:10That's what we hear from the locker room.
00:21:12Last question for you.
00:21:13You and Edren Cooper, what kind of duo can you guys be this season?
00:21:17Man, I mean, Cooper, man.
00:21:18I've seen it today.
00:21:19He's lightning fast.
00:21:20He's physical.
00:21:21He can make plays.
00:21:22You know, I'm going to do my best to, you know, get the right calls in and get everybody lined
00:21:25up, man.
00:21:26But, you know, we got our sights set really high.
00:21:29Our expectations and our standards for ourselves is extremely high.
00:21:32And, you know, we just going to continue to try to live up to that every day.
00:21:34All right.
00:21:35Thanks so much for your time.
00:21:36We really appreciate it.
00:21:36You know, of course.
00:21:37Appreciate it, too.
00:21:39Zaire Franklin.
00:21:39They made the trade with Indianapolis.
00:21:41And outside, it's a bobbled ball by the running back, Jaden Nixon.
00:21:46Flag was thrown on that second down and ten.
00:21:52Franklin, boy, he has a completely different edge and intensity at practice.
00:21:58And it is contagious.
00:22:05Pass interference.
00:22:07Outfit number 80.
00:22:10By the way, that sideline report brought to you by UW Health Kids, the official pediatrics partner of the Green
00:22:17Bay Packers.
00:22:18You talk about that excitement at practice this week.
00:22:21Zaire Franklin and Tucker Craft had themselves a little collision around the sideline.
00:22:26And Zaire Franklin said, hey, this is great.
00:22:29This is what we're hearing.
00:22:29Iron sharpens iron.
00:22:30And if he's going to come at us hard, we're going to go back at him hard.
00:22:33And it was good to see that type of physicality.
00:22:36And even better to hear that type of camaraderie afterwards.
00:22:39Look out.
00:22:39Here they go.
00:22:40Q Robinson comes in to sack the Green Bay quarterback.
00:22:45Kyle McCord.
00:22:46They gave up five sacks in Pittsburgh last week.
00:22:49That's the first one tonight.
00:22:52Just getting around the edge of Brant Banks right there at the tackle position.
00:22:56Brant Banks is 6'7".
00:22:58He's got a really long wingspan, but you've got to play with your base and stay low and get down
00:23:03and attack with that punch.
00:23:05Fortunately, he was too high right there.
00:23:07Allowed the man to dip underneath him and get to the quarterback.
00:23:10And here's the last nap to Whelan.
00:23:13And deep back is Ketsis.
00:23:16And he'll take it at the 26.
00:23:18Hang a 4-5-2.
00:23:20Nice return.
00:23:21Tackle made by Shamar Bartholomew on a 51-yard punt.
00:23:27An 18-yard return.
00:23:30And for those of you keeping score at home, that would have been a 95-yard field goal try by
00:23:34smack.
00:23:34Just in case they were looking at that.
00:23:38Just outside of that range.
00:23:39Just barreling.
00:23:40Just outside that area.
00:23:50After the Green Bay punt, first and 10 handoff, it goes to Jaleel McLaughlin.
00:23:55You saw the flag thrown halfway through this third quarter.
00:23:57Gain of 7.
00:23:59Offense number 85.
00:24:0110-yard penalty.
00:24:01We play.
00:24:02Touchdown.
00:24:03We're still talking about what we've seen with the Green Bay kicker smack.
00:24:06He's kicked field goals.
00:24:08With Trey, his kick field goals of 53, 51, and 59 yards.
00:24:14Make it 43, 59, and 51 yards tonight.
00:24:18After two 58-yarders and a perfect night in Pittsburgh last week.
00:24:22And then if you combine that with what he did family night, he has now gone 19 of his last
00:24:3022.
00:24:31Not too bad.
00:24:32First and 20.
00:24:35That includes practice.
00:24:37And they chart practice.
00:24:40It's Jaleel McLaughlin who runs the ball and picks up five.
00:24:45And John wheels his way to the 38 of Denver.
00:24:48Yeah, you see Simpson flying up there to make that tackle.
00:24:53And that's what you have to do when you're a corner.
00:24:55You've got to protect that boundary.
00:24:57Come up there.
00:24:58Get to the line of scrimmage.
00:24:59Get behind the line of scrimmage.
00:25:01Force that ball carrier to cut back.
00:25:03Gets just enough of his legs to get him down.
00:25:05But if he didn't, he forced him back inside to where his help was.
00:25:09Oladapo now playing that nickel.
00:25:11Number 27.
00:25:13Playing that slot corner.
00:25:15And here comes the little second 15 toss.
00:25:20And McLaughlin, and speaking of Oladapo, comes up at the stop and limits him to a gain of four.
00:25:27Well, Ketan Oladapo had a sack at Pittsburgh last week.
00:25:32Now they got him in that slot.
00:25:34And it's going to be part of the three safety combination they're going to use on defense.
00:25:37Yeah, and when we get to the regular season, we know the nickel is going to be Javon Bullard.
00:25:42We know Evan Williams and Xavier McKinney will be mixing and matching back there at the safety position.
00:25:47It's position free and high.
00:25:49But really, it's a three-man deal.
00:25:51They all got to be able to play off of each other on a string.
00:25:54And that's how they'll be most effective.
00:25:55Third down 11.
00:25:57McLaughlin the back.
00:25:58And Stidham to the air.
00:26:00And he's got his receiver.
00:26:01And the catch was made by Cameron Ross.
00:26:04Good looking throw.
00:26:05A gate of 12.
00:26:06A bullet thrown on third and 11.
00:26:08And a first down for Denver to the Green Bay 46-yard line.
00:26:13You know, speaking with Jonathan Gannon this week, he told us that sometimes you got to teach your players when
00:26:21you watch the film,
00:26:22that's just the correct call for that defense.
00:26:25You can't cover everything.
00:26:27And right there, the Green Bay Packers had a lot of that play covered.
00:26:31But unfortunately, that comeback route right there was in between the coverage that they had and just enough for the
00:26:37first down.
00:26:37It's getting your team to understand that concept and that not everything is going to be perfect, but you've got
00:26:43to come back and play the next play.
00:26:44That's Tyler Bidet.
00:26:46And he picks up four.
00:26:48And a late flag thrown in there.
00:26:51With tonight's down and distance brought to you by Pottawatomie Casino Hotel.
00:26:55The Midwest's best casino.
00:26:57And their best spokesman, John Kuhn.
00:27:02Can you take me there some time?
00:27:04Holding.
00:27:05Offense number 46.
00:27:07Ten-yard penalty.
00:27:08You play for four.
00:27:09Fullback out of Brennan's.
00:27:11Come on.
00:27:12See, doing the fullbacks dirty here.
00:27:14I mean, I'm glad because it's the opponent, but you're doing the fullbacks dirty.
00:27:18But hey, anytime you want to, Kevin.
00:27:20Anytime.
00:27:20Anytime.
00:27:20Anytime.
00:27:21Anytime.
00:27:21That's great.
00:27:24Open invitation.
00:27:24That is great.
00:27:26I, um, look forward to that.
00:27:29They serve food.
00:27:30They do.
00:27:31No.
00:27:31The kind that you like, too, which is any.
00:27:33Which is...
00:27:37Spot foul.
00:27:38So it's first and 19.
00:27:40And it's back to the 45.
00:27:43McLaughlin is the running back.
00:27:48O'Dap-O continuing to play that slot corner.
00:27:50Here they come up the middle.
00:27:52Stidham.
00:27:53And it's incomplete.
00:27:55Manjack was there.
00:27:57The rookie free agent with the flag on the field.
00:28:03Joseph Manjack.
00:28:04Pass interference.
00:28:05Defense over 27.
00:28:07First down.
00:28:11Just arriving to the party a little bit early.
00:28:13The Packers coming.
00:28:15Coming with the middle dog cross.
00:28:17And anytime you pull that jersey away from the body like that, they're going to get that call.
00:28:22Good job by our camera crew and our terrific truck here in Denver tonight.
00:28:28Ball now at the 43.
00:28:3112-yard penalty.
00:28:33It is a first down for Denver.
00:28:36Four and a half here in the third.
00:28:39Jarrett Stidham.
00:28:41Duclea on the ball for.
00:28:43Gets the first down.
00:28:44Lungs it right into the teeth of that Green Bay defense.
00:28:48Hopper was the one that knocked him astray.
00:28:52Gain of 11.
00:28:53It's first and 10 Denver at the Packer 31.
00:28:58Watch McClellan on this play.
00:29:00He takes the bump from the double team.
00:29:01And it washes him over to the wrong side of the body.
00:29:04When you get the double team, you've got to stay firm.
00:29:07You've got to anchor.
00:29:08That's what they're looking for in their big guys.
00:29:10He's going to learn here at the NFL.
00:29:12When you take the bump of a double team, it's a little heavier than what it was in college.
00:29:16When he stays firm there, he can get half a hat on the ball.
00:29:19And that will keep that thing to be in such a big room.
00:29:21Laughlin again from Stidham on first and 10.
00:29:23Chased.
00:29:25And then eventually tackled and brought down on the play by Mervyn Kenyon.
00:29:30And again a two on the play.
00:29:32And they're to the Green Bay 29.
00:29:35Good job there getting population to the football.
00:29:38Nick Neiman on the inside there continuing to work down the line of scrimmage.
00:29:43Forces the ball carrier outside.
00:29:44And then Mervyn comes up there and finishes the thing off.
00:29:48Number 64 is in the middle for Green Bay.
00:29:51Jonathan Ford, the nose tackle.
00:29:54345 pounds.
00:29:56He consumes a lot of space.
00:29:58Second down and eight.
00:30:00Out of the backfield.
00:30:01They've got Cody Schrader.
00:30:02Cody.
00:30:02Who was brought down by Nick Neiman.
00:30:05It's a gain of five.
00:30:07And they're down to the Green Bay 24-yard line.
00:30:10And making it third and three for Denver.
00:30:13There's Ford 64 up the middle.
00:30:15And you mentioned Ford.
00:30:17And he's listed at 338.
00:30:19But I got an inclination.
00:30:21He's a couple biscuits over that.
00:30:23He's a big old man on the inside of that interior.
00:30:25And he's shown every bit of that since he came back here to Green Bay.
00:30:29He's had a good camp.
00:30:30And he fits that position well, doesn't he?
00:30:32He does.
00:30:32He fits the nose very well.
00:30:33He likes to eat up double teams.
00:30:35And he likes to hold that line of scrimmage steady.
00:30:38Third down three.
00:30:40And the run here again by Schrader.
00:30:43Another lost helmet by McClellan.
00:30:45That's his second time he's lost it.
00:30:47They throw him for a one-yard loss.
00:30:48His penetration was there.
00:30:50Nice defensive play back to the 25.
00:30:53With tonight's replays presented by Huppie and Abraham.
00:30:56Tell them you mean business.
00:30:59Anthony Campbell showing up on that play.
00:31:01Getting forced to his gap.
00:31:02He's got good gap integrity.
00:31:04Uses his long arms to keep the offensive linemen off of him so that he can make that tackle there.
00:31:10Five and a half minute drive.
00:31:12Fourth and four.
00:31:14Stidham.
00:31:15Threshard runs.
00:31:16He's got the first down.
00:31:19Nice job to the 19.
00:31:21Running for six on fourth and four.
00:31:23The drive is alive.
00:31:25And the Broncos are in the red zone.
00:31:32That's a tough one there.
00:31:33That hurts the morale for the Packers' defense.
00:31:35They stopped them on third down.
00:31:37They had them covered there on fourth down.
00:31:39And then just the pocket opening up for Stidham to be able to burst through and get that first down.
00:31:44They need to come firm now.
00:31:45The day at the back.
00:31:46It's first and ten for Denver.
00:31:48With a couple tight ends.
00:31:51Uh-oh.
00:31:52Bad exchange.
00:31:53And he falls on it.
00:31:54And loses about a yard.
00:31:57Making it second down and 11.
00:31:59It has the third quarter wind down here in Denver.
00:32:05Broncos a season ago.
00:32:0714 and three.
00:32:09And when you get a long drive like this, this is when the defense starts gasping a little bit for
00:32:14air.
00:32:15We're up here at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium.
00:32:17It's six minutes and 30 seconds of this drive.
00:32:20The air's a little thinner.
00:32:21You've got to buckle down now.
00:32:23This is where you show your mettle.
00:32:24This is where you show your worth.
00:32:25One of the things they want to do here now is run the ball more in Denver.
00:32:29So all these plays are part of the master plan.
00:32:33On second and 11, the throw incomplete.
00:32:36Batted away.
00:32:37They were looking for Hakeem Butler, a third-year receiver out of Iowa State.
00:32:42Fine coverage on the play.
00:32:44It'll be third and 11.
00:32:46MJ Devonshire was there.
00:32:49Check out Packers defensive tackle here.
00:32:51Crummity with a sweet spin move.
00:32:53A little hesitation, head fake inside.
00:32:56Then goes arm over to get the pressure on the quarterback there.
00:33:05Stidham, by the way, the Denver quarterback right now had a good game last week against Atlanta.
00:33:09They had a big win.
00:33:11And there is a battle in this city for the backup quarterback.
00:33:15Here's a throw.
00:33:16He throws in back of his receiver, the twirling butler.
00:33:21It's incomplete on that third and 11.
00:33:23It's fourth and 11.
00:33:25And they'll go for three.
00:33:27We have a half minute to go here in the third quarter.
00:33:30I'm going to give an attaboy to the defense there for stepping up on a long drive.
00:33:34You're winded.
00:33:36You're playing at altitude.
00:33:37Everything feels like it's leaning against you.
00:33:40But they finally put their foot down and said, this drive stops here.
00:33:43That's a great point.
00:33:4438-yard field goal drive by Will Lutz, the 11-year veteran.
00:33:49No competition in camp.
00:33:52And from 38 to cut to that Green Bay lead.
00:33:55And he gets it with ease.
00:33:57Ten-point game.
00:33:58With 30 seconds.
00:34:0036 seconds to go.
00:34:02That was a seven-minute drive.
00:34:05But they only get three.
00:34:07And as John said, the Green Bay defense does their job.
00:34:11Ten-point game.
00:34:12Late in the third.
00:34:13I'll go drive.
00:34:15And they only get three.
00:34:16And they only picked up 37 yards.
00:34:19That was a net on that drive.
00:34:20That's covering every blade of grass right there and making them earn it.
00:34:25You've got to be proud of that Packers defense that after last week in the second half had some troubles
00:34:30this week.
00:34:30Looks like they're up to task.
00:34:32Well, that's a flag.
00:34:33It's going to be out to the 40-yard line.
00:34:34Will Shepard was in there on the kickoff by Denver after they just belted a 38-yard field goal.
00:34:41Kickoff out of bounds.
00:34:43Kicking team number three.
00:34:44That rollerball will be placed at the 40-yard line.
00:34:46Packers tonight have scored an 11-yard touchdown pass.
00:34:50That's love to Lloyd.
00:34:51They've scored a 51-yard field goal, a 59-yard field goal, 43-yard field goal, and a two-yard
00:34:59touchdown pass to Shepard.
00:35:02A lot to be excited here for what you saw, not just out of the starters on their limited opportunity,
00:35:08but the way these reserves have responded this week coming off of what was a disappointing second half last week
00:35:15in Pittsburgh.
00:35:15Two very difficult, hard-fought practices throughout the course of this week.
00:35:20And now look at the dividends at pace.
00:35:22Jaden Nixon was back there.
00:35:24Here's the throw.
00:35:25And it goes downfield.
00:35:27McCord Denair.
00:35:29And a big-time game.
00:35:31He takes it to the 33-yard line.
00:35:33A 27-yard completion and a first down for Green Bay.
00:35:41Wide open was Isaiah Nair on that one.
00:35:45You go and pull the trigger on first down there.
00:35:48A lot of times you call those types of plays when you get an advantageous start to your drive,
00:35:53and that's what the Packers got after the penalty on the kickoff.
00:35:56Nair was undrafted out of Nebraska on the practice squad a year ago.
00:36:01Big-time compliment of the game by Invisalign Clearer Winers.
00:36:05The official smile of the Green Bay Packers and Trey Smack with another outstanding night.
00:36:13The rookie kicker.
00:36:15We begin the fourth.
00:36:16It's first and ten.
00:36:18And Nixon has no place to run, no place to hide.
00:36:21Drilled by Reese Taylor.
00:36:23Out of Purdue, losing three.
00:36:25And they shove him back to the Denver 36.
00:36:30Yeah, we won't smile about that play, but we'll smile about the overall production by the Green Bay Packers here
00:36:37tonight.
00:36:37We talked about the defense being stingy and the offense taking care of the little things.
00:36:41Only one sack allowed tonight.
00:36:43Obviously, no giveaways.
00:36:45And really, not a whole lot of flags on the green and gold here tonight.
00:36:49So, everything considered, they've been checking the boxes of playing within their system.
00:36:55It's McCord.
00:36:56It's Shepard.
00:36:58Looking for blocks.
00:36:59Nair provided one late.
00:37:01They get to the 30-yard line.
00:37:03And he picks up six.
00:37:04Setting up third down and seven.
00:37:06McCord now has thrown for 75 yards.
00:37:10And he is 7 of 12 through the air.
00:37:12You know, Kevin, when we talked with Adam Stanovich, the offensive coordinator, we asked him, what exactly do you want
00:37:20to see?
00:37:21And he said, physical, fast, execute, player away.
00:37:25Very short, very concise.
00:37:26The opposite of Jonathan Cannon's answer.
00:37:28But that's what the Packers are doing here.
00:37:30It's very simple offensively if you just do your job.
00:37:36It's McCord on third and seven.
00:37:38Plits his arm.
00:37:39Flows there.
00:37:40Nair makes the move.
00:37:41Hats the twisting catch.
00:37:43At about the 19-yard line at Denver.
00:37:46And he picks up 11.
00:37:47Good throw by McCord, who continues to impress.
00:37:50It's a first down for Green Bay in the red zone.
00:37:55And McCord's got to feel pretty good about the receivers that he goes out there on that football field with.
00:38:01Not always at the end of these preseason games do you get guys that look as polished as the back
00:38:06end of this wide receiver room does this year for the Green Bay Packers.
00:38:09You saw Will Shepard with the toe-drag swag.
00:38:12You saw Jay Michael Sturtevant make his catch earlier in the football game.
00:38:17And then you see Isaiah Nair continue to impress.
00:38:21There's the first.
00:38:22There's the run.
00:38:24And he's down to the two.
00:38:26Jayden Nixon with the sprint as he goes right through the defense for 16.
00:38:32First and goal to go, Green Bay.
00:38:35Watch this thing get washed down right there.
00:38:37Who was that?
00:38:38That was number 72.
00:38:40Brant Banks washing the pile down.
00:38:42Nixon being patient and squeezing right behind his behind to get down all the way inside the five.
00:38:50That was great patience by the running back.
00:38:52But even better pressure right there by Brant Banks to wash the entire pile down in front of him.
00:38:58Bronco defender Tyson Anderson, who is a special teams player, seeing defensive snaps now.
00:39:06Slow to get up, but getting up indeed.
00:39:08Good sign for him.
00:39:09Packers will be at the three.
00:39:11And they're going to have it.
00:39:12First and goal to go.
00:39:21The Denver Broncos are one of the best teams in the AFC, not to mention the NFL.
00:39:27And the competition for just a few, very few positions on this roster, intense.
00:39:34First and goal, looking for Nair, and complete coverage on the play by Reese Taylor.
00:39:39So, this is a quality team with a lot of competition.
00:39:44And they are truly going to run it back.
00:39:47So, the Packers playing a quality opponent with quality backups.
00:39:51Yeah, and quite frankly, Kevin, this is a welcome sign.
00:39:56If you remember preseason two or three years ago, we came out here, and it was not this case.
00:40:01The only points we got in that ball game was the safety.
00:40:04We had to use that for our small movement of the game.
00:40:06We got smiles all around the board here tonight, including this play right here.
00:40:10And a touchdown by Nixon.
00:40:12Jaden Nixon gets it from McCord.
00:40:15And now the Packers have scored on the ground twice through the air with some lengthy field goals sprinkled in.
00:40:22And it has been a great night for the Packers on the road in preseason game number two.
00:40:27There is a three-yard touchdown run by Jaden Nixon.
00:40:31Played five years of college football.
00:40:33He played at Oklahoma State, Western Michigan.
00:40:36Ended up at University of Central Florida.
00:40:39A rookie free agent goes through, makes the play.
00:40:42And the Packers, who now have eight drives and six scores tonight.
00:40:50You saw a little bit of Adam Stenevich up in the box.
00:40:53And he said sometimes calling plays is a lot of fun.
00:40:55And sometimes it's really nerve-wracking.
00:40:58And sometimes it can be miserable.
00:41:00Right now, I think he's having a lot of fun.
00:41:02I think he's having a ton of fun.
00:41:04Trey Smack will try the extra point.
00:41:14Like I said before, the only college kicker drafted in this past draft.
00:41:21Out of Florida.
00:41:23He's perfect in the preseason.
00:41:27And a three-yard field, a three-yard touchdown run by Jaden Nixon puts the Packers on top in Denver.
00:41:35Top 30 to 13 over the Denver Broncos.
00:41:43Top 30 to 13 over the Denver Broncos.
00:41:50Now the kickoff.
00:41:52No rest for Nixon back out there on the kickoff team.
00:41:59That's what you do in the preseason, Kevin.
00:42:01You go and score yourself a touchdown.
00:42:03Yep.
00:42:04Grab a swig of water.
00:42:06Get back out there, big fella.
00:42:08Katzis is out there along with Sean Fresh out of Rice.
00:42:14Fresh is a defensive back.
00:42:15First time he's been back tonight to retrieve the kickoff.
00:42:22Katzis.
00:42:24And he'll bring it up for the Denver Broncos.
00:42:27He got tripped up there by T.J. Quinn.
00:42:3227-yard return.
00:42:34A couple times we've said Quinn's name now on the kickoff team.
00:42:37So doing a good job there.
00:42:39And we know the importance of special teams for the Green Bay Packers.
00:42:43We know how it has held them back in recent years
00:42:46and how they're looking to try and dispel that type of moniker going into 2026.
00:42:51That would be such a welcome surprise to be able to start drives further down,
00:42:57to hold opponents further back for their starting position,
00:43:00and obviously to be able to make kicks.
00:43:02Here's a first and ten for Denver with the new quarterback.
00:43:06And they go up to the 35-yard line with the catch right there.
00:43:10Justin Jolie.
00:43:11He's a rookie out of North Carolina State.
00:43:13Gain of six.
00:43:14Sam Ellinger is the quarterback, a six-year veteran out of Texas.
00:43:19Cam is an unrestricted free agent from the Colts a year ago,
00:43:23and he is the third Denver quarterback tonight.
00:43:25With our fourth quarter brought to you by Network Health,
00:43:29proud presenting partner of Operation Fan Mail,
00:43:32honoring our military heroes and their families.
00:43:35Second down four with a run that produces a first down.
00:43:40And they get it there with Cody Schrader,
00:43:43who is out of the University of Missouri in his third year.
00:43:46It will be first and ten.
00:43:48As we watch the defense here on this drive,
00:43:52we had that conversation with Jonathan Gannon.
00:43:54He talked about the complexity of being able to call a game aggressive.
00:43:58And a lot of people would think with an offense with Jordan Love
00:44:01and all the weapons we have, why would you be aggressive?
00:44:05But really, to be aggressive is to go after the football,
00:44:09understanding that you're going to take that risk of them scoring one over the top
00:44:12or making some big plays and being okay with that
00:44:15because that means more possessions for Jordan Love
00:44:18and the offense that you see is so powerful.
00:44:21If you sit back, and this has been in recent years as well,
00:44:24where the Packers, you know, they defend every blade of grass.
00:44:28And you have to be really efficient in the red zone for that to work out
00:44:32because you're limiting then Jordan Love's opportunities
00:44:35to be able to drive his offense down the field.
00:44:37Ellinger just picked up six, second down and four.
00:44:42And he'll go to the air.
00:44:44And it looks like maybe a first down grab by Jolie.
00:44:48And they're going to give it to him right at midfield.
00:44:51Gannon, in talking to him this morning,
00:44:54we need to understand it's a new scheme, new coordinator, new voice.
00:44:58Different base defense, 43 to a 34.
00:45:02He's introducing new concepts every single week,
00:45:05and that will not change when they get back to Green Bay.
00:45:07There'll be another part added to that defensive playbook.
00:45:10And when you talk about aggression versus sit back,
00:45:14that could change on any given week,
00:45:16depending on who your opponent is, who the opponent's quarterback is.
00:45:20And don't expect it to look the same every week in and week out.
00:45:24But one thing you can expect to stay the same
00:45:26is the way the Packers are chasing the quarterback right now,
00:45:29that relentless effort.
00:45:30Ellinger finally takes it himself.
00:45:32He was almost taken down by Arden Walker.
00:45:35He was signed Wednesday, undrafted.
00:45:38He was just released by the Vikings, signed by the Packers.
00:45:42He played at Colorado in his last year.
00:45:44Before that, University of Missouri, Arden Walker, number 46.
00:45:49He just put the nameplate on the jersey, and here he is playing.
00:45:52Yeah, a lot of people are like, who is 46 out there?
00:45:55Yeah, that's the new guy.
00:45:57Throw him right into the fire and see what he can do.
00:46:00Oh, it's second down and now.
00:46:06And a timeout taken by Ellinger.
00:46:12As the Packers...
00:46:15There's a look at Sean Payton.
00:46:18And a look at Jordan Law.
00:46:20Packers in.
00:46:21That's a good time.
00:46:22That's a good time to get on.
00:46:23Tell people what's going on here.
00:46:27Ellinger, after the timeout, second nine, takes it himself.
00:46:30He lost the ball and fires on it.
00:46:33At about the 47, Packer pressure was there.
00:46:36Came from all angles, including from Nigelique Kelly, the rookie out of Central Florida.
00:46:43Green Bay's first hat.
00:46:45You know, Nigelique, again, the technique isn't perfect, right?
00:46:50It doesn't look the cleanest.
00:46:52But he has a knack and a feel for where the ball's going.
00:46:55And he gets his body there, and he gets away from his defender.
00:46:58And he's able to make a play.
00:47:00Knocks the ball free.
00:47:01Unfortunately, we don't jump on it.
00:47:03Jonathan Ford first started the escape from the quarterback.
00:47:05But these are guys, and I know what this feeling's like late in the fourth quarter of a preseason game.
00:47:11And you're trying to do that.
00:47:12Here he goes.
00:47:13It's Anthony Campbell shooting through and bringing him down.
00:47:18Two straight plays of six authored by Green Bay's defense.
00:47:23Terrific.
00:47:24It's fourth down, and they're going to punt.
00:47:26Here you go.
00:47:27Campbell swiping him off.
00:47:28You can see he's long.
00:47:30He's got these monstrous arms.
00:47:32But he doesn't just use them to push the defender away.
00:47:35He's constantly swiping.
00:47:37He's constantly pushing.
00:47:38He's constantly keeping his hips going towards the quarterback.
00:47:42The man has done nothing but make plays all camp long.
00:47:46Right there, another example.
00:47:48Boy, this cut down's going to be hard.
00:47:50Here's the punt by Croshaw.
00:47:53And deep back for Green Bay, Will Shepard, and he lets it go out of bounds.
00:48:03Boy, they're walking that thing all the way up the sideline.
00:48:05He's behind to the 20.
00:48:08And he stops at the 21.
00:48:1458 and 37.
00:48:16Let's throw another 58 in there.
00:48:17I know I'm going to.
00:48:18I'm going to.
00:48:18Because I know you're going to.
00:48:19Here's a little pass outside the tight end.
00:48:22McCallum Castle.
00:48:23And a flag has been thrown.
00:48:25He is a first-year player out of Tennessee who was on the Green Bay practice squad last year after
00:48:33being with the Rams.
00:48:34Offside.
00:48:34Defense number 57.
00:48:36Five-yard penalty.
00:48:37First down.
00:48:38Deshaun McCullough.
00:48:39He's out of Nebraska.
00:48:41A rookie free.
00:48:42We've got a couple guys in this game out of Nebraska.
00:48:44Program building back up and playing well.
00:48:48All right.
00:48:48We're going to send it down to Carly, who's with one of the players who have starred in this camp,
00:48:52Lucas Van Ness.
00:48:53Carly, take it away.
00:48:54Yeah, standing by with Lucas Van Ness.
00:48:56Lucas, you enter your fourth season.
00:48:59What can we expect from you this year?
00:49:01I'm just excited.
00:49:03And, you know, first off, I've got to give credit to Denver for a preseason game.
00:49:06I mean, this has been an excellent environment.
00:49:09And, you know, you can see the D-line coming alive here late in this fourth quarter.
00:49:12So I'm excited for my guys.
00:49:13But, you know, we're just looking forward to it.
00:49:16You know, new defense with Coach Gannon.
00:49:18And, you know, we've got some new guys this offseason, you know, between Hargrave and Zaire to help us out.
00:49:23But we're just pumped up to, you know, get week one against Minnesota and show what we can do.
00:49:28Speaking of that new defense, how do you feel like you guys are settling in to Gannon's scheme?
00:49:32We love it.
00:49:33And, obviously, you know, there's the obvious missing with Micah here at the start of the season.
00:49:38So I'm just really proud of our room especially for stepping up in between myself and Beacocks, Barron,
00:49:44and just denying some of the younger guys.
00:49:46We've just got a lot of competition.
00:49:47And we're really just stepping up in the right way.
00:49:50And I'm excited to see how that comes together.
00:49:52But, you know, J.G.'s got some fun stuff planned for us.
00:49:55Is there anyone in particular you think can step up with Micah Parsons' absence through the first six games or
00:50:00so?
00:50:01Yeah, I think it's going to take the team.
00:50:03It's going to take all of us.
00:50:04You know, obviously, Micah is a really important piece of this defense.
00:50:07And we're looking forward to getting him back.
00:50:08But I think when we're all 11 playing as one, we can be pretty dangerous.
00:50:12Last one for you.
00:50:13Just your thoughts on Mark Perry's interception and how the defense is playing tonight.
00:50:17Oh, they're playing great.
00:50:18You know, they've brought the juice the whole game tonight.
00:50:21You know, you turn on that tape, they're playing fast.
00:50:23They're playing physical.
00:50:24And that's what we wanted to see today.
00:50:26And that's what we want to see in these preseason games.
00:50:27And I'm just proud of the guys.
00:50:28So, exciting stuff.
00:50:29Thanks for your time.
00:50:30Good luck this season.
00:50:31Thanks, Charlie.
00:50:31Appreciate it.
00:50:32You know, I think a lot of people, okay, thank you, Carly.
00:50:35I think a lot of people, John, were thinking that they just survived defensively until Parsons returns.
00:50:42They went 0-5 with him when he got injured last year.
00:50:45But the way this defensive line has played in camp, it may not be as trying as maybe we thought.
00:50:53But, yeah, I mean, Parsons clearly is a game changer.
00:50:56He's an alien.
00:50:57Right.
00:50:57He's an alien.
00:50:58What he does on the football field, very, very few.
00:51:01But it's not waiting the White Five time.
00:51:03No, no, it's not.
00:51:04But he is an exceptional talent.
00:51:07But even last year, and we know the statistics, 0-5 without Michael Parsons to finish the season.
00:51:12But aside from that Baltimore game, they had moments where this defense was playing together.
00:51:18Insert Jonathan Gannon's scheme and a couple other players being added to the mix, including Brandon Cisse, Chris McClellan, Jonathan
00:51:25Ford, Zyra Franklin.
00:51:27This is going to be a different look defense going into 2026 than what we saw at the end of
00:51:33last season.
00:51:34And with all that said, there were moments when that defense even performed.
00:51:39There's a rallying cry when you lose one of those star players like Micah Parsons.
00:51:42And they're all going to look to chip in in their own individual way.
00:51:45Well, there's Hargrave, and there's Franklin and Wyatt.
00:51:49That was a first down run by running back Damian Martinez, who is in there right now.
00:51:57First down and 10.
00:51:59And Martinez again.
00:52:02Sideswipe by Deshaun McCullough with a gain of four.
00:52:06And I think when we talk about some of these new additions,
00:52:10we haven't seen Hargrave in a preseason game yet.
00:52:14I've seen him at practice already, and he is one of those guys that when you still,
00:52:19even over the age of 30, the explosion he has off the football, his leverage,
00:52:23and the fact that he keeps everything in line, his ankles, his knees, his hips,
00:52:27and everything is going towards the quarterback at the same time.
00:52:31He, Zyra Franklin, Brandon Cisse, they're all going to be names that Packer fans are going to get to know
00:52:36very early and often if they don't know them already.
00:52:40And there's Martinez running again.
00:52:43And on the play, as we approach four to play,
00:52:47the Packers now have 115 rushing yards tonight.
00:52:54And now it'll be third down and inches.
00:53:00Third down, we'll call it one.
00:53:03Yeah, they're awaiting Parsons' return, Wyatt's return,
00:53:07trying to find that edge rusher, trying to get
00:53:11Hargrave out there.
00:53:12And he's now rejoined practice, which is good.
00:53:15Quarterback sneak, and he got it.
00:53:17Nice play.
00:53:18Kyle McCord.
00:53:23Three and a half, first down, Green Bay.
00:53:25Clock ticking here in the fourth, and time now for the play of the game.
00:53:28It's brought to you by Habish, Habish, and Rotier.
00:53:32National reputation, hometown service, and visit Habish.com.
00:53:36Nice catch by the young receiver, Shepard.
00:53:40And if you're sitting at home and you're like,
00:53:42I only saw one foot get an oh, no, he drugged the second foot.
00:53:45But you saw a couple pieces of grass fly up in its place.
00:53:49And those are the types of plays.
00:53:51It doesn't matter, as Matt LaFleur said,
00:53:53if it's by an inch or if it's by a mile.
00:53:55A touchdown's a touchdown because the inch goes the other way as well.
00:53:58If he was one inch out of it.
00:54:00What a play by McCord.
00:54:01And what a catch by Shepard.
00:54:03He avoids the rush.
00:54:04He moves up, and this young quarterback finds Shepard,
00:54:07who picks up 20, and McCord continues to shine.
00:54:11And the Packers continue to move the ball to the 22.
00:54:15Is McCord going to be the backup quarterback for the Packers this year?
00:54:18No, he's not going to be.
00:54:19But he's going to play a very valuable role on this team
00:54:22as the scout team quarterback.
00:54:24And being able to make throws like that
00:54:27is going to prepare the defense going forward.
00:54:30He will be a guy that sticks around and continues to develop.
00:54:33And it's great to see what he's doing already early on for the Packers.
00:54:37It's Martinez.
00:54:39And McCord through the air has gone 11 of 17 for 117 passing yards.
00:54:45And last week, McCord was 12 of 16 for 102.
00:54:49So he has really impressed.
00:54:51They've, like we mentioned a couple times already,
00:54:52they cut the rookie out of Virginia Tech, Kyron Drones.
00:54:56And we're back in Denver.
00:54:59Two-minute warning.
00:54:59Packers have all three timeouts.
00:55:01They've moved the ball well on this drive.
00:55:04Led by quarterback Kyle McCord,
00:55:07who has played well for a second consecutive week.
00:55:12Calls at the 20.
00:55:16It's second down and eight for Green Bay.
00:55:20Damian Martinez is the running back.
00:55:24In this last week, back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons,
00:55:27one at Oregon State, one at Miami.
00:55:31Fake here.
00:55:33And McCord on the run.
00:55:35And the ball bobbled.
00:55:37And it is incomplete to Keyshawn Johnson.
00:55:42Hey, while we have a moment,
00:55:43we've got kind of a special honor here in our booth tonight.
00:55:46Our statistician, Ethan Cooperson,
00:55:49as you watch this bobble,
00:55:51is our statistician.
00:55:53Now, he keeps the statistics for Jim Nance and J.J. Watt
00:55:57on Sundays for CBS.
00:55:59And he works with us on the Monday night broadcast.
00:56:02Tonight is his 900th NFL game,
00:56:06which I just can't imagine that.
00:56:10900 NFL games.
00:56:12Going for 1,000.
00:56:13Going for 1,000.
00:56:14Third and eight.
00:56:16The back-piddling Martinez.
00:56:18And covered well by Parker Robertson
00:56:20out of Oklahoma State, a rookie.
00:56:22It's fourth and seven.
00:56:25And they're going to go for three.
00:56:27And why not?
00:56:29Because Trey Smack is perfect.
00:56:31In preseason.
00:56:33Ethan, congratulations.
00:56:35900.
00:56:36900.
00:56:38NFL games, he's worked.
00:56:40Preseason, regular season, playoffs, and Super Bowl.
00:56:43And he's so smart, he remembers every detail from every game.
00:56:47He does.
00:56:4838-yard field goal.
00:56:51For Trey Smack, rookie, Florida, sixth-round pick.
00:56:59Got it.
00:57:00Man, everyone is right down the middle of Main Street, isn't it, man?
00:57:04Holy cow.
00:57:05He is, this kid is.
00:57:07He is a sharp shooter.
00:57:08He is.
00:57:09I'm telling you.
00:57:10And the kid is so calm with it.
00:57:12He's having himself a great preseason.
00:57:15What did you call him before?
00:57:16Steely-eyed rocket man.
00:57:35Trace Mack is now 7-7 kicking field goals in the preseason.
00:57:40Kind of an up-and-down start.
00:57:43And since family night, he has been money.
00:57:47And the Packers have the lead.
00:57:5033-13.
00:57:5265 seconds to go.
00:57:53And this one here is the kickoff.
00:57:55They're going to leave it out of the end zone.
00:57:58And it'll be a touchback.
00:58:00Tonight's player of the game is brought to you by UW Health Kids,
00:58:05the official pediatrics partner of the Green Bay Packers.
00:58:09Here's strong, the running back, and a return man here.
00:58:12Yeah.
00:58:12You see the big return that he started this drive off with.
00:58:16That led to a Trey Smack field goal.
00:58:18And then it was on the ground.
00:58:19He rushed for 37 yards on eight carries, 4.6 average.
00:58:23As a team here tonight, Kevin, one of our keys to the game was being much better here.
00:58:28And as a team, it's 3.7.
00:58:30You've got to factor in a couple quarterback runs there.
00:58:32But the running backs at 4.6, 5.0, 3.4, much more improved than last week.
00:58:38Cody Schrader will get the call.
00:58:40Tackle made by Quinn.
00:58:42First and 10 from the 35 with the touchback.
00:58:45And we're under a minute to go.
00:58:47It's good for Strong, who is trying to work in.
00:58:50And we mentioned before, Josh Jacobs, a groin injury kept him out of practices.
00:58:54He has returned to camp and returned to practice, not playing tonight.
00:58:59And Strong is, of course, there, hoping for the health of Marshawn Lloyd.
00:59:03Jayden Nixon had a touchdown run tonight and looked good.
00:59:06Chris Brooks, with his third down capabilities, is a pass protector.
00:59:10He's in there playing tonight.
00:59:12Second down, four.
00:59:13Schrader again, burrowing his way.
00:59:15And he has the first down pass, the Denver 45.
00:59:22Sean Payton looks like he's ready to concede this ball game, do the handshakes.
00:59:27Everybody that's left in this thing stays healthy, gets to the buses, gets out of here.
00:59:32And that's the most important part about the preseason.
00:59:35I don't think we had an injury tonight.
00:59:37Am I correct?
00:59:38I'm going back in my notes.
00:59:39There was one earlier for the Denver Broncos, Riley Moss with a rib injury, but he was questionable return.
00:59:46Regular season probably would have, so all things considered, a good, healthy night and a good, good preseason game for
00:59:51the Green Bay Packers.
00:59:52It was.
00:59:53A good win for the Packers on the road, in the altitude, and they evened their preseason record at 1
01:00:00-1 after losing last week in Pittsburgh.
