00:49His teammates really enjoy when he's on the mound.
00:52Everyone seems to be loose,
00:53which can help the offense be a bit more dangerous.
00:56So if you look at the opposing lineup,
00:59they're hoping he doesn't just settle in.
01:00They want to make this an uncomfortable start from the beginning.
01:03Davis Schneider, the leadoff batter,
01:05as he looks at ball one.
01:18That one clips the outside corner.
01:21That's strike two.
01:27There's a swing and a drive.
01:28But carrying well.
01:32Makes the catch up against the wall.
01:36Let's take a look at the lineup for the Blue Jays.
01:39Not a team that usually sees a lot of pitches or works a ton of walks, Chris.
01:43They take a more aggressive approach than some of the other teams in the league.
01:46They've got some free swingers, don't they?
01:48It's a great approach with pitches over the plate.
01:51But when the pitcher expands the zone, it just doesn't work.
01:55They need to draw more walks to get runners on base.
02:03Here's a swing and a line drive,
02:04and that's a base hit into right field.
02:07So a man aboard now with one away.
02:12Showed a willingness to drive that pitch the opposite way.
02:15Didn't get jumpy, didn't try to pull the ball.
02:17He let it get deep, took the barrel right to it,
02:20and then extended through the swing for the line drive base hit.

02:33So now it's the four-hole hitter, Kazuma Okamoto.

02:50Showed some really good discipline.

02:53but don't trust that it's going to hang on for a strike.

04:54Yeah, definitely someone I always enjoy, you know, when I get a chance to watch him,
04:58whether he's hitting a game or even taking swings during batting practice.
05:02Man, this guy's always so focused on what he's doing on that task at hand.
05:06He's got so much attention to detail that when he steps in the box, his success rate is really high.

05:20Two really good back-to-back sliders.
05:22Now in an 0-2 count, he's feeling real confident about finishing this hitter off.
05:27He can go anywhere he wants.

05:57If he's not ready to pull the trigger, he's not worried if he gets to an 0-2 count.

06:05So a two-out knock keeps the inning alive.
