00:00the Dolphins gonna have a joint practice tomorrow with the New York Giants as they'll have their
00:08second preseason game on Saturday afternoon uh big news of the week was that Chris Bell was
00:16activated and uh this was the Dolphins rookie wide receiver which uh then now that's becoming
00:23a room everybody's all of a sudden everybody's getting very excited about very excited about
00:27with Caleb Douglas making big plays Kevin Coleman's back on the practice field and of course Chris
00:32Bell is working his way back um so it's not as bad as it as everybody previously thought
00:39before the season started before they start practicing right yeah it seems gonna be a lot
00:44of that I mean I'm starting to see you know signs of it's not as bad as people thought on
00:50the D line
00:51it's not as bad as people thought on the offensive line right so so like let's just let's give it
01:00some
01:00time now I will say this the problem with young guys okay you hit that wall you've never played
01:11this much football in your life so around Thanksgiving first of December bodies start getting a little
01:20broken down and what's different about this team than other teams that they may happen to
01:28is that you're gonna be playing veteran minutes as a young player so we might notice it a little bit
01:37more we might notice as the season as the season goes on some boneheaded plays because they're just
01:45exhausted interesting so like yeah it's like think about this well now they're playing
01:5415 games in in college some of them but but keep in mind you'll probably get
02:03three to four weeks worth of breaks during the season right you have a couple of bye weeks then
02:08you get the break from the playoff schedule so you don't get that much time in the NFL you go
02:17and then
02:18if you're a rookie they're playing you a lot in the preseason because you got to get up to speed
02:23it's a lot of football so you know I felt like a lot of veterans were playing in that second
02:29half
02:29because they were like all those guys on the prove it deals we're definitely having to what
02:32they're trying to make the team that's I know I know it was it was kind of weird to see
02:37that and
02:37and and think about this this is this is gonna suck for the veteran guys
02:45but the better or the closer the young guys get to all he needs is reps to be better
02:54the way this year is gonna go they might just go with the young guys and take their lumps
03:01oh 100% right and and so there's a lot there's a lot going into it that I I was

03:08I was on uh who I did interview with yesterday Amber really yeah you did ESPN radio yesterday
03:15yeah and I told her before I left you know I had to say stop to stop stealing my chicken

03:20of course Amber Wilson was notorious for that she was a she was a vulture
03:27and she said that they didn't count either because you know what she would do
03:30we'd order me and Tobin would order wings like like just a table full of wings she'd go give me

03:45she goes red-handed it don't count because it's not my order

03:57was it might be an advantage for halfley to come in with all these young guys because they haven't
04:05been ruined yet and the way he teaches them how to play and prepare might be the only way they

04:14learn in the NFL sure like they haven't been with another they haven't let me tell you when Belichick
04:21came in and I had been with a coach that was kind of laid back we didn't even stay in
04:28the hotel the night
04:28before the game right so it was kind of you're a professional be a professional and I'm like I don't

04:38trust me to do that like I ain't there yet at least you know you know this by these guys

04:50he just freeze up on us yeah I think he did yeah he was making great points too really was

04:54waxing poetic on football expertise and it was really great and I was like man this this is football
05:00there you go hey what's up buddy all right but but you're talking about the hotel young yeah these
05:06guys being yeah but well yeah we never we we didn't stay in the hotel night before a game my

05:11year and so therefore guys we're that's why we're 3 and 13 right halfley comes in he teaches them a
05:18way
05:18to prepare teaches them a way to to to play the game teaches them the demands of what it's going
05:25to
05:25take to be a professional right it's the first way that they learn in the NFL so sometimes being young
05:35and having a new coach that's doing it the way halfley is doing they haven't been corrupted they haven't
05:43been corrupted by the NFL yet with how what you can get away with you see what I mean so
05:48it might end up
05:51being the best thing to happen to the coach and the players I definitely think that's going to be part
05:59of the encouraging thing about this year is like one of the best things of being a sports fan like
06:04everybody wants to win championships everybody wants their team to go you know far obviously but
06:08watching young guys develop I think is is sometimes the most fun as a sports fan because you just kind
06:13of get to see the beginning of the ride I think that's always an enjoyable part whether that's
06:18you know watching the young Marlins develop
06:21even last year with some of the heat players getting to see them do their thing like I think
06:24those are those are fun games and so this is a bit of a year where everybody is expecting
06:29the Dolphins to be terrible everybody does everybody in Vegas thinks they're going to be terrible everybody
06:34thinks that they're not going to do anything and look objectively if you just look out from the
06:38they have a very very tough schedule it only seems like it gets harder as the year goes on
06:43um so who knows but they don't know but here's the thing they don't know that
06:48well we don't know that because it's like I'm saying the players don't know that these guys are just getting
06:52into the NFL don't know how tough the schedule is they don't know who all they know is they're out
06:57there
06:57competing against the guy across from them that might be a blessing now here's what I would say
07:04they could be the the the biggest surprise of the first two months
07:10don't get disappointed if in December they say oh reality set in it might not even be that it might
07:17be they're just out of gas the excitement of playing your first NFL season you you don't pace yourself
07:23you're like like yeah man by the time I got to Thanksgiving I was punch drunk for reasons I
07:31can't even explain I'm like wow because when I played my last game of the year
07:39was the weekend before Thanksgiving that was the Ohio State game right and we didn't play again
07:45until January 1st we had practices right and so now I go into the NFL and that's just past the
07:56midway point yep so yeah there's there's a yeah what he got like six weeks left after that of games
08:03yes yes so um I I'm not the the thing is is that with the uncertainty of how these guys
08:12are going to
08:12play but seeing some of these guys perform in the least little bit I'm not just going to dismiss it
08:21as oh yeah they're going to be bad people are saying they're going to be bad because they don't know
08:25what these guys are going to be but who's to say the three wide receivers and Chris Bell
08:31whenever he comes back who's to say that's not the core for the next three or four years
08:36yeah right that's I think that's the whole who's to say that Malik Willis isn't a lot better than
08:41everybody expects they're just they're just chalking it up to and and here's the deal
08:46is this team going to look better just by having a competent quarterback playing 16 17 games
08:52I would you see what I'm saying like he don't have to have the numbers that Tua has
08:57but to be there every week is this offensive line going to be look better with no injuries
09:03yeah that's the interesting thing is like I feel like a lot of the concern is on the offense and

09:07feel like I have more concern about the defense like the defense is secondary I still have questions
09:12about that but but here's the deal with what you're seeing up front could that be a mask could
09:22that hide some of the deficiencies you have in the secondary this is how this is how football is
09:26see what Zeke Biggers said yesterday no what did he say he was talking about his teammate Jordan
09:32Phillips and apparently Jordan Phillips has a nickname Jordan Phillips that's a dog stout run
09:40defender he's he kind of development in the past as well so kind of he's one of those guys like
09:45freakishly strong like you'll see him hold up 600 pounds with one arm like it's people he holding up
09:52people crazy so he's always been a guy that's kind of very we call him freak freaky jake because
09:56he's freakishly strong so yeah no no freaky jay that's yeah everybody everybody has a couple of
10:09those guys on the team where you look and you see them work out and they may not have the
10:15body type
10:15that we all expect you know people think strong people have muscles but and I've told you all the
10:22time about these offensive linemen and defensive linemen with bad bodies and you don't want to
10:27know part of them freaky jay sounds like a porn hub category you'd find on Mario Cristobal search
10:35or you're here in basketball he loves trenches yeah so I'm I'm like so there there's there's promise I
10:45think my promise is a little bit different because I kind of understand what everybody's
10:53going to go through but again a blessing in disguise is the fact that a lot of these kids
11:01and these young men have not played in the NFL before and their first introduction to the NFL is
11:09Halfley who's being who's teaching them how to be consummate professionals being
11:15calls them freaky jay huh do you think Halfley calls them freaky jay if everybody else does he would
11:22if everybody else does not see here we go don't start what don't start that's his name
11:33way too early for trenches are for champions it's not fun yeah unless your guy look you know when
11:40it's fun when you see your offense or your defensive line just dump trucking up the line of scrimmage
11:45and then that's fine bet you they have fun in Detroit oh yeah bet you they have fun in football
11:50I'm not going to count Philly like they don't never have fun they won the Super Bowl and didn't have
11:56fun no they're just miserable bastards right so so I'm I'm that's why it's hard for me
12:03just seeing what I've seen and and I don't listen to what people write I really don't because
12:11the things that I've just talked about nobody has written about that nobody has written it as long
12:18as they've been around football to understand that aspect of it that when you're new to something
12:25right so for example if I bring in a new board up and I say Tobin you train them right
12:33or I say
12:34Brittany you train them how they go about learning is going to be different it's going to be different
12:41because you guys have two different approaches I don't know if I could train a board up anymore
12:45well you know what I mean it's been a while I mean listen I think you could still do it
12:51Robbie train Jennifer that's fair that's fair so so like I'm if it ends up being a dumpster fire
13:05like I want to see the promise of these young players developing and if they should happen to get
13:12off to a fast start because of the energy and the youth I'm not going to get overly carried away
13:21because it's a long season and you're going to get mad at me right you're going to get mad at

13:28because you're going to start doing your thing and I'm gonna say stop it what thing just what am I
13:36gonna do oh so I'm not so you say I'm gonna get overexcited I'm gonna do that thing I'm not

13:47games early on you know but TCB you know what the most important thing is is not I don't I
13:58it matters
14:00but I don't want everybody to get too caught up after a game win or lose I don't want to

14:08and say they played poorly but got away with it there was no energy there was no this there was
14:13no that they looked unorganized right you know if everybody's organized everybody where they're
14:20supposed to be if the quarterback looks competent making right reads but maybe not making the plays
14:26right that means everybody's in line and you can win games that way you don't have to be the best
14:32team if everybody is in line
