00:12Ismail told FMT that he denied defaming Ashraf, saying that he had only shared an AI-generated
00:18poster showing several people who held positions related to TH between 2014 and 2018.
00:24He stressed that his point was only that TH was under the UMNO Barisan Nacional Administration
00:30from 2014 to 2017 and that he had not accused any specific person of mismanaging the fund.
00:37Ismail maintained that he did not know the basis of Ashraf's allegations and was prepared
00:42to fight the matter in court.
00:44His lawyers also believed Ashraf lacked legal standing to sue him over the post and had
00:49responded to the letter of demand on August 11.
00:52Ashraf had instructed his lawyers to issue letters of demand to Ismail and social media
00:57user Abid Abdullah over allegations he claimed had damaged his name and reputation.
01:03Ashraf is seeking RM5 million in damages from each of them.
01:07The dispute comes against the backdrop of the TH Royal Commission of Inquiry which examined
01:13the fund's financial management from 2014 to 2020 and found losses in 7 of 14 investments.
