00:00The calendar says summer, but your sinuses may say otherwise.
00:04AccuWeather's exclusive fall allergy forecast shows weed pollen already peaking.
00:09Meteorologist Alan Reppert, AccuWeather's allergy expert, joins us with where it hits hardest and when relief is expected.
00:17We're really starting to look at the effects of El Nino kicking in with increased moisture over parts of the
00:23southeast and into the southern Rockies.
00:25That's really going to produce a lot of weed pollen that we're looking at in the southern U.S. and
00:30even into parts of the northern U.S.
00:32We're going to see that probably a good week that we're really looking at pretty extreme pollen levels.
00:38Alan, millions of people are sneezing their way into fall, so what's the biggest headline in this pollen forecast?
00:43Really the biggest headline, especially early in the season as we're looking at more so the grass pollen,
00:49is really going to be the high levels that we're seeing across parts of the Ohio Valley and into the
00:53northeast for the next month or two.
00:55So why is grass hanging on so long in the midwest and the northeast?
00:58With the warmth that we're going to see and also with the temperatures remaining warm and ample moisture,
01:04plenty of chance for the grass to continue to grow through much of the fall and even as we approach
01:10winter in parts of the southeast and into the southern Rockies.
01:14What's one thing you want allergy sufferers to remember about this fall?
01:18Really, even though you may see rain and it might help for a day or two, the rain doesn't necessarily
01:25always really help you in terms of pollen.
01:28The rain can only help to increase the pollen levels, especially a few days later,
01:33and that can really help to increase the suffering that you may see for late this summer and into the
01:41fall.
01:41All right, AccuWeather expert meteorologist Al Rippert, also our allergy guru.
01:46Thanks again, Al.
