Which NFL Coordinator will be fired first?
Transcript
00:00All right, we'll get back to business momentarily.
00:02Check the table on a little football.
00:04David, music, please.
00:07So we're getting real close to the start of the NFL season.
00:10And a team in Brussels.
00:12Yeah, that's very true.
00:14So what I want to do here is usually when we talk about hot seat,
00:16we talk about head coaches.
00:18I want to do a little different thing here.
00:20Some other things, some players,
00:21and maybe even some coordinators that are on the hot seat.
00:24Let's start in Dallas.
00:26The defensive coordinator, Christian Parker.
00:28Yes.
00:28They've invested.
00:29They had two first-round picks that were defense.
00:31They had Jalen Thompson, Kobe Durant.
00:34They have Quentin Williams, Rashawn Gary, D. Winters
00:36that they all added in the offseason.
00:38And Kenny Clark in season last year with the Micah Parsons deal.
00:41After finishing so bad on defense, is he on the hot seat?
00:44Did they do it again?
00:45Yeah, it's time to perform.
00:46You know, the X's and O's and Jimmy's and Joe's.
00:48Well, they got you the latter.
00:49Now it's on you.
00:51Yes, hot seat.
00:52This is going to be his first year, correct?
00:55Yeah.
00:55One and done.
00:56I'm sorry.
00:57You don't got a guy on a hot seat after one year.
00:59I don't care who you have.
01:00Yeah.
01:01That's absurd.
01:02No, it's not.
01:02That's called demanding excellence.
01:04Hot seat.
01:05Oh.
01:06Hot seat.
01:06No.
01:07We are handing you a Ferrari.
01:08If you Jordan Balforded at the country club, you're gone.
01:13Get off the phone.
01:15You're fired.
01:15Come on.
01:17It's the Dallas Cowboys.
01:18If that defense isn't markedly improved, you're gone.
01:20The Dallas Cowboys, the team that can't never win?
01:23The hell with them.
01:24I'm saying from a pressure standpoint, Michael.
01:27Go ahead.
01:28All right.
01:28Jerry Jones doesn't.
01:29He doesn't fire coaches.
01:30He's on no hot seat.
01:32Let's move on to another coordinator that I was interested in here.
01:36And that's the offensive coordinator, Sean Mannion, for the Philadelphia Eagles.
01:40This is a little different than Dallas.
01:41Is that former Oregon State quarterback, Sean Mannion?
01:44Yes, it is.
01:45A little different because they did get rid of A.J. Brown, and people believe he was
01:50the reason they had offensive problems.
01:52If they have him again, would he be on the hot seat?
01:54One and done.
01:55It's Philly.
01:56They'll put him in a body bag by Thanksgiving.
01:58That's true.
01:59Go ahead and argue that one.
02:00I'm not going to argue that one because if Jalen Hurts has it, well, it'll either be
02:04Mannion's fault or Hurts' fault.
02:06I'm starting to look.
02:08Hurts, he's been a winner.
02:09But last year, his legs didn't work.
02:12His arm didn't work.
02:13Right.
02:13I don't know what I was watching.
02:15I know.
02:16And their offensive line was beat up last year just like the Lions was.
02:20You coach in Philly, you're under pressure the day you signed the contract.
02:23Oh, it's ridiculous.
02:25Next one on the list would be quarterback Bryce Young.
02:29Yes, they picked up his fifth-year option, but if he wants another contract, has to have
02:34a great year.
02:35I agree.
02:36He is on the hot seat.
02:37If he wants to possibly coach, or excuse me, quarterback for the Barcelona Dragons of the
02:42new NFL in three years, he's got to have a good year.
02:45I think the other thing that plays into this, I don't think there's any scenario.
02:51He would have to do something so outside the realm of our imagination.
02:55He's never getting one of these $50 million a year deals.
02:59To me, the Baker Mayfield deal is the best he could hope for.
03:03Three at 110.
03:05I mean, look, he's fine enough some weeks.
03:10There are occasional moments, and the rest, you go, I ain't paying that guy.
03:16So, he's under pressure, but man, if he's willing to play ball, the pressure could alleviate.
03:24Next one on the list for me would be Marvin Harrison Jr.
03:30Stop right.
03:31Yes.
03:31Yes.
03:32This guy can't catch a football.
03:35He can't stay healthy all the time.
03:37He's running like you.
03:38I don't know what.
03:40His younger brother, I hear, is even better than him.
03:42I just, I'm worried about him.
03:44I don't know what happened to Marvin Harrison.
03:46Immense pressure.
03:48Yeah, it's crazy.
03:48It says here over the past two seasons.
03:49Good thing he's got Jacoby Brissett throwing him the ball.
03:51It's all going to work out just fine.
03:53So, just 43 players have been targeted at least 180 times.
03:57One was him, but he was 42nd in reception rate, 103 of 189.
04:02That is wild.
04:04Let's move over to this one here.
04:05Another NFC West.
04:08Nick Bosa coming off an injury.
04:11Huge contract.
04:13The number on his contract next year is gigantic.
04:15If he does not come through this year, cut candidate.
04:19Yes, absolutely.
04:20And look, it's tough that he's coming off of an injury.
04:23He's a great player, but he could be cut.
04:27Absolutely, if he doesn't have a great year.
04:28That damn substation.
04:30Yeah, the substation.
04:31And being in that city with his controversial takes might lead something to it as well.
04:36Why?
04:37See, I'm missing.
04:38What did he do?
04:39He's a big, the exact opposite of what they are in San Francisco.
04:44Oh, who cares?
04:45Grow up.
04:45It's politics, not a sport.
04:47I know.
04:47I understand.
04:48Oh, grow up.
04:48Just if the guy gets 12 sacks, who cares?
04:50I agree.
04:51The guy can worship Satan and cheer for him.
04:53Cut it out.
04:54Ridiculous nonsense.
04:56Yeah, cut candidate.
04:57Guy's never healthy.
04:58Let's move over to the AFC South.
05:00And I have two quarterbacks here for you.
05:03I have one for the Texans and one for the Coats.
05:05All right.
05:05CJ Stroud in a different situation because he has talent, but it hasn't really shown
05:11itself on the field lately.
05:12And Daniel Jones, because if he doesn't come through and recover from his injury, this
05:17could be his last starting gig.
05:18Correct on that one, but that's injuries.
05:20I don't think there's an immense amount of pressure.
05:22It's whether his body holds up.
05:24Right.
05:24And he just got another receiver in Keenan Allen.
05:26Stroud is different.
05:27And I don't know what's going on.
05:28Did you see him the other day?
05:30No.
05:30It looked like it was someone dressed up as CJ Stroud, but it's not CJ Stroud.
05:34He don't even look like CJ Stroud no more.
05:37And his play has been eroding.
05:39Now, they've given you the 85 Bears defense.
05:42Now, I don't blame him for the last game of the year at New England.
05:45They had nobody healthy.
05:46Nico was dead.
05:47They had a tank.
05:48Del's leg was in a pretzel.
05:50He's back this year, isn't he, tank Del?
05:52Sure.
05:53Sure.
05:54And Paul Serra could beat him in a race.
05:56He's been practicing with the first team.
05:58I know.
05:59Right.
05:59At the hospital.
06:00The point is, this will be it for CJ.
06:03He is either going to get a $50 million a year deal, or he is donezo.
06:09And let's close it out with this one here, because it involves the team that you believe
06:15in the most, the quarterback that you believe in the most.
06:18Justin Herbert.
06:19His office of coordinator is on the hot seat, possibly.
06:22Mike McDaniel.
06:23No.
06:24Okay.
06:24He's going to do an incredible job.
06:26There is no pressure.
06:28Capri pants for all.
06:30Well, my biggest fear is Justin Herbert got engaged.
06:33And as Mickey said in Rocky, women weaken the legs.
06:37We don't have time for that.
06:39We saw it last year with Alan and his famous wife.
06:42Plus, they keep having injuries in these scrimmages.
06:46They're center.
06:46But I'm going to say no to McDaniel.
06:48Quentin Johnson got hurt today, too.
06:50He can't catch, though.
06:51So it doesn't matter.
06:52Somebody else got hurt, too.
06:54Mike McDaniel there is going to be phenomenal.
06:56And Harbaugh, the way he runs an NFL team, the commitment to the ground game, McDaniel's
07:02a run game coordinator, originally Shanahan's right hand.
07:06It's just, it's perfect.
07:07There is no pressure.
07:08The pressure's on Herbert.
07:11That is your NFL blitz.
07:14No, I agree.
07:15These famous wives and girlfriends.
07:17We need a Super Bowl, Justin.
07:18Focus.
07:2097-1.
