00:00A Nepali man and a local woman have been arrested over an incident involving the Malaysian and Johor flags displayed
00:07upside down at a factory in Kulai.
00:10Kulai Police Chief Tan Singh Lee said the two, aged 34 and 48, were detained at 10.45am on Monday.
00:18Police also seized the two flags and a work schedule as part of the investigation.
00:22In a statement, Tan reported that the male suspect, who works as a security guard, is believed to have installed
00:29the flags upside down, while the woman allegedly handed them to him and instructed him to put them up.
00:34Tan noted that neither suspect had a criminal record and both tested negative for drugs.
00:40The pair have been remanded for four days until August 21st, with the case being investigated under several laws covering
00:47official emblems, public mischief, communications and immigration offences.
00:51Their arrests came a day after the Kulai Municipal Council ordered the factory to temporarily close over the incident.
