00:00Oh yeah. Anytime you can work some baseball into the show, you know I'm gonna do it.
00:05Oh, forget about it.
00:06It's the Andy Summers Show with Jeff Kirchhen, Donnie, and Shannon.
00:09And this Saturday, I'm very excited, August 22nd,
00:13my dad and I, ESPN's Tim Kirchhen, are hosting a really awesome charity event
00:18that we want everybody to be invited to.
00:21Yay!
00:21Nice.
00:22So you can actually text Tim right now to 610-660-6925.
00:27Oddly enough, I feel bad because during the 10-minute tunes,
00:30I know some people asked for some Tim McGraw songs,
00:32so they got sent the link for this event because it said Tim in it.
00:36Oh yeah.
00:37But nonetheless, if you text Tim to 610-660-6925,
00:42we're gonna tell you all about and give you the link to our event in Pottstown, Pennsylvania
00:47at Soul Joel's this Saturday, 2 p.m.
00:51to benefit a young dad who's been diagnosed with ALS out of Collegeville.
00:55Now, if there's one thing I can say about the Andy Summers Show and XTU as a whole
01:00is we're all about supporting the community.
01:02It brings me back to the days of Coach Poppy, right, Andy?
01:05Yes.
01:06Yes.
01:06Who needed a kidney.
01:07I mean, he had been waiting for, what, years?
01:10Yeah.
01:10Years.
01:11Yeah.
01:11And we held events and got the word out,
01:14and he eventually got his kidney, and now he's doing so well.
01:19Which is so amazing.
01:20We love you, George.
01:20Andy still stays in touch with him, you know, talking all the time.
01:24And he, I know, has been pumping you up, Andy, in your recovery as well, which is so, so special.
01:30Yeah, he's amazing.
01:31This young dad, Michael Brown, former Secret Service, former college baseball player,
01:37and he lives in Collegeville.
01:39He's a father of some beautiful kiddos, and he needs our help, right?
01:43So, you know, my uncle died of ALS back in 2023, and we know firsthand the difficulty of the disease,
01:52but also the difficulty of the care, the amount of caretakers you need, the medicines,
01:57the insurance hoops you have to jump, skip, and run through to get anything done.
02:02And then, obviously, the family aspect.
02:05You know, my uncle, he had grown kids, both, you know, very steady in their jobs and doing well,
02:11but, like, couldn't imagine supporting a family with a diagnosis like this.
02:14Oh, it just, it breaks our heart.
02:16Jeff, let me ask you this, though.
02:18So you're having this great charity event with you and your dad, but what can people expect?
02:22Yes, great question.
02:23You can expect all things baseball, baby.
02:27All right, so we're going to be on the stage doing a little back and forth.
02:30So my dad and I have a podcast called Is This a Great Game or What?,
02:33where we talk baseball the way only a father and son can, right?
02:36Sharing the love of the game together.
02:38And we'll be chatting back and forth, but then the best part is we're going to be taking your questions,
02:43a Q&A with baseball expert, Hall of Fame writer Tim Kirkson,
02:46and I just secured something big yesterday, folks.
02:49What?
02:50Yes, thanks to our friends, the Philadelphia Phillies.
02:54I secured five game tickets for you and four friends to go to a game with Tim Kirkson
03:02and sit with him at a Phillies game, which is a pretty awesome prize.
03:08Your dad is like a moving baseball encyclopedia.
03:13Oh, yeah.
03:14Like any question you throw at him.
03:17Donnie's tried to, I feel like, stump him in some ways.
03:19I thought I had him.
03:20I thought I had him.
03:21You can't.
03:21He knows everything.
03:23He knows everything.
03:24But at the same time, he's also super fun.
03:26Yeah.
03:26Right.
03:27And he's so nice about it.
03:28He could be a snob about it.
03:31Like, I know everything, but he's not.
03:35It's always a teaching moment when it comes with Tim Kirkson.
03:38And I love this story, just all his stories.
03:42Well, we're so excited for this event.
03:44Everybody's invited.
03:45You can text Tim to 610-660-6925.
03:48Bring the whole family.
03:50McKinley's going to be there.
03:51She's going to be selling hats.
03:53We have a brand new exclusive hat.
03:55All of the proceeds are going to go.
03:58Yep.
03:58All the proceeds are going to go to Michael Brown and his family.
04:01We also have a Trey Turner signed jersey we're going to be raffling off,
04:04those game tickets, and so much more.
04:06So come on out.
04:07August 22nd.
04:08Text Tim 610-660-6925.
