00:01Brothers, I just watched this video here from my wife Thais, for those of you who don't know her,
00:06I talk a lot here on my channel about her, about how we met,
00:09because I see her as a great gift that God gave me.
00:13The Bible says that a man who finds a woman, a faithful woman, a woman who fears the Lord,
00:18has received a great blessing.
00:20So, I am very grateful to the Lord, because she has been a faithful helper, a supporter in my ministry.
00:26And the Bible says that a virtuous woman is a rare woman, she is hard to find.
00:31So much so, that she is worth much more than many rubies.
00:35In other words, precious jewels.
00:38In fact, I talked about this on the day I made my vows to her at our wedding.
00:43Brothers, I said these words and I will never forget them, because God truly gave me a gift.
00:50And she just made a video here talking about clothing, about whether it's a sin to wear accessories,
00:55to paint your nails.
00:57Brothers, this causes so much debate, right?
01:00So much controversy among us.
01:02It shouldn't, it doesn't need to, but she brought such a deep teaching that I thought,
01:07I'm going to share this on my channel.
01:08By the way brothers, before I start her video, I just want to comment on something.
01:12Whenever we talk about taking care of yourself, about a woman taking care of herself,
01:17people mention the example of Jezebel, right?
01:20Because the Bible says that Jezebel was very vain.
01:24I want to read you a passage here, that talks exactly about this moment, when Jezebel put
01:29on makeup, took care of herself.
01:32Remember that the Bible never says that Jezebel put nail polish on her nails.
01:37There's nothing like that, because a lot of people accuse, right?
01:41They say that putting nail polish on your nails is a sin.
01:45After all, Jezebel, who is the symbol of evil, was a very cool woman, a seductive woman,
01:49she would get ready like that, she would really dress up.
01:52So I'm going to read it for you here, look, see what is written in 2 Kings 9, verse 30.
01:59It says this, look.
02:01When Jehu arrived at Jezreel, Jezebel heard about his arrival.
02:07So she put makeup around her eyes, fixed her hair and looked out the window.
02:19waiting for that man.
02:21Brothers.
02:23Actually, here is very clear that Jezebel, she didn't put on makeup just to feel pretty.
02:28No.
02:28She didn't just want to feel pretty.
02:30No.
02:30She wanted to seduce and she wanted to manipulate Jehu.
02:34But now, let's move on.
02:36Who was Jehu?
02:38Jehu, brothers, was a man used by God, raised up by the Lord, to condemn the house of Jezebel,
02:44along with her husband Ahab.
02:46And he was anointed then by the prophet Elisha.
02:49And he had this command from God to go there and kill Jezebel, a tremendously evil woman,
02:55very cruel.
02:57And what happens?
02:58Her husband Ahab, he had already died in a war.
03:01And now, Jezebel's son was in power, who was Jehoram.
03:05This man was as cruel as his mother.
03:09He was under this same spiritual entity, this same demon, right?
03:13That persecuted the man of God in the past.
03:17And what happens?
03:18When this man got there, Jehu, he came to kill Jezebel and he actually succeeded.
03:23But before that, she tried to seduce him.
03:26And that's where the problem is, you see.
03:28There are many people who say, no, you can't, you Christian woman, right?
03:32You can't take care of yourself in any way.
03:34Take care of your hair, you can't wear makeup.
03:37Put nail polish on your nails, because that's a sin.
03:41In fact, brothers, sisters, right?
03:43I've already seen videos here on YouTube, people saying the following.
03:47People who are in hell and who used to wear makeup and accessories used nail polish.
03:52Brothers, this is a serious heresy.
03:55One of the worst kinds.
03:57Because it's not the fact that you use something external or don't use it that will condemn you to hell
04:03or save you.
04:04There's nothing like that.
04:06In heaven, people who denied, you know, this outward beauty, won't enter.
04:12Brothers, all of this is heresy.
04:14It's not in the word of God.
04:16What saves us is the blood of Jesus that was shed on the cross.
04:20It's us putting our faith in Christ.
04:23Amen?
04:24And those who don't put their faith in Christ, even if they stopped wearing makeup or taking care of themselves,
04:29that won't change anything.
04:30The person will be condemned because they didn't receive the gift of salvation from the grace of the Lord. Amen?
04:37So I'm going to play the video of my wife here and we'll watch it together.
04:41We'll comment on what she's saying.
04:43All right?
04:43Watch it, brothers.
04:44Let me hit play here.
04:47Hello, everyone.
04:48How are you?
04:49I'm Thais Hayes and I'm here once again to share a message from God for your heart.
04:55Today, I want to talk about a topic that causes a lot of doubts among women.
05:00Is it a scene to wear accessories, makeup, nail polish?
05:05What does God say about this?
05:07I want to study with you today about this topic that causes a lot of doubts among Christian women.
05:13But we are going to learn according to the Bible what God teaches.
05:17So watch this video until the end because I want to study this with you.
05:21So to start, I want to explain to you.
05:24Here in the Bible, God doesn't say directly that it's forbidden to use these types of accessories.
05:30But he uses two apostles, the Apostle Peter and the Apostle Paul, to exhort the women of that time.
05:38It was a time when women came from a Greek culture where they adorned themselves with jewelry, with necklaces.
05:46And that was a way for them to be sensual, to show off, to feel powerful.
05:51So that displeased God.
05:55So the Holy Spirit used these apostles to teach these women the right way to dress.
06:00That they should have a change from the inside out.
06:04That they should dress with modesty, with decency, with discretion.
06:08And that's why it was necessary to bring this instruction.
06:12And I want to read these two passages with you.
06:14I wrote them down here so we can read them together.
06:17Because there are several passages.
06:18The first one is in 1 Peter 3, 4.
06:23The Apostle Peter said,
06:24Do not be concerned with outward beauty, which depends on jewelry, beautiful clothes, and extravagant hairstyles.
06:31The second passage I want to read is in 1 Timothy 2, 9.
06:37I want women to dress modestly.
06:39They should wear decent and appropriate clothing.
06:42And not adorn themselves with extravagant hairstyles or with gold, pearls, and expensive clothes.
06:50So these two passages were brought up at that time to teach those women who were converting to have a
06:56true conversion.
06:57To have a change that comes from the inside out.
07:01And how they should dress, since they came from a time when it was normal to dress that way.
07:06But that displeased our God.
07:09So bringing this to our culture today, we see that wearing these types of accessories,
07:15whether it's earrings, a necklace, a bracelet, makeup, or nail polish, that's not a sin.
07:22However, this can become a burden, depending on the way you use it, if it's with the wrong intention.
07:28Because God always cares more about what's inside our hearts.
07:32With our brother...
07:33Just stopping here, sisters, right?
07:35Because the video is more for you today.
07:37Although men also need to hear this, even to give guidance.
07:41Sometimes the wife, right?
07:42Sometimes doesn't know how to give advice.
07:46In summary, up until now, she talked about the Apostles, right?
07:50And you notice that the emphasis is on discretion, on modesty.
07:55A woman of God has to be known for her gentle spirit, for her heart, right?
08:00And not for her appearance.
08:01And that doesn't mean she can't take care of her appearance.
08:03But let me just make a side note here.
08:05In the time of Jesus, the religious people, the people who had an appearance of holiness,
08:12they had a problem with the disciples.
08:14Why?
08:15The disciples of Jesus, many times they ate without washing their hands.
08:19They didn't wear proper clothes.
08:22Many times they didn't fast for everyone to see, you know?
08:25So they didn't like it.
08:26And they even said to Jesus, there in Mark, chapter 7, verse 5,
08:33Look at what they asked.
08:34Why don't your disciples follow the traditions of the religious leaders?
08:37In other words, they were bothered.
08:41Why, brothers?
08:42Let me show you something.
08:42Today, we live in an age of appearances.
08:45But in Jesus' time, it was like that too, you know?
08:47The person who appeared to be the holiest, in people's eyes, was considered the holiest.
08:51Was the purest.
08:52The closest to God.
08:54But God, brothers, He sees the heart.
08:56Because no one can fool Him, you know?
08:59So, that's exactly what Ais is talking about.
09:01And she's absolutely right to bring this aspect of the issue into focus.
09:05You know?
09:05The intention of the heart.
09:07Because you can't fool God.
09:08She'll talk more about this, but later I'll share a very interesting perspective.
09:12Let's continue.
09:15Insight.
09:16That's why we have to understand what the reason is.
09:18Why are you wearing that accessory, that necklace?
09:21With what intention?
09:22Is it to compete with your friends?
09:23To show that you have more things?
09:26Or just with the intention of dressing well?
09:30What God cares about most is the intention of our heart.
09:34For what reason are you doing such a thing?
09:36Is it with the intention of being seductive?
09:39Is it to entice someone?
09:41If that's your intention, my sister, it's not appropriate.
09:44You shouldn't use any accessories.
09:46It's not appropriate for you to wear makeup.
09:48It's not appropriate for you to use nail polish.
09:50Because God is concerned with your heart.
09:52So, I want to share with you now two stories.
09:55The story of Rebecca and the story of Esther.
09:58Who were women that adorned themselves.
10:00Who wore jewelry.
10:01But they were women who had hearts that pleased God.
10:04First, I want to read with you the passage about Esther.
10:07Which is in the book of Esther, chapter 2, verses 12 and 13.
10:11Read with me.
10:12Before they were presented to the king, each young woman went through 12 months of beauty treatments prescribed for the
10:19woman.
10:21Six months with oil of myrrh and six months with special oils and perfumes.
10:26When it was her turn to go to King Xerxes, she could choose any clothing or accessory from the harem
10:33to take to the palace.
10:34So, I want you to understand that even Queen Esther, who was a woman used by God to deliver the
10:42people from all that evil, from all that captivity.
10:45She was a woman who was beautiful, elegant, and adorned.
10:49She wore jewelry and accessories.
10:52So, God doesn't mind that as long as our heart is aligned with him, with his principles, with the purpose
10:59he has for us.
11:00So, may you look at Esther's example and see that the most important thing to God is your heart.
11:06Another example we see in the Bible is Rebecca's example.
11:10Read with me.
11:11Genesis, chapter 24, verse 22.
11:15When the camels had finished drinking, his servant took out a gold pendant, which weighed about six grams, and two
11:23gold bracelets, which weighed more than 120 grams, and gave them to her.
11:29So, we see that Abraham asked his servant to go to the city of his relatives to find a wife
11:34for his son, Isaac.
11:36And as a gift, he sent jewelry for this woman, who would be Rebecca.
11:41So, Rebecca accepted that gift, and then she went to meet Isaac, to marry Isaac.
11:48So, we see that a woman who was chosen for Isaac, who was a man of God, was also a
11:53woman who was adorned.
11:54At that time, receiving jewelry was like an honor.
11:58You were honoring that woman with a gift.
12:02So, God doesn't care about these things.
12:04What I want you to understand again with this example from the Bible is that God is not concerned with
12:10the physical things of this earth.
12:13He is concerned with what is inside us, with our inner self, where our heart is.
12:19It's very sad to see many women who sometimes dress all the way up to the neck, don't wear accessories,
12:26don't wear makeup, don't wear heels.
12:28But these women, they gossip.
12:31They don't treat their family well.
12:33They dishonor their husband.
12:35They do so many things that displease God.
12:37So, God wants you to have a heart that pleases Him, that you have attitudes that honor the Lord.
12:44And if you are a woman who has used these types of accessories, makeup, to be seductive, to do things
12:50that displease the Lord, may you repent.
12:53Because God wants to forgive you.
12:55God wants to change your life, to transform your heart, so that this is reflected in your clothing, in your
13:02behavior.
13:03Amen?
13:03So, God is a God of grace.
13:05He is a merciful God.
13:09Brothers, look.
13:10What she said here was very important.
13:12There are many young women, many women, who have gotten used to being sensual, to attracting men's attention.
13:19And all of this, many times, is connected to neediness, emotional neediness.
13:24There are women, for example, who only understand love in sexual terms.
13:28The case of the Samaritan woman, she had already been through five marriages, right?
13:33And now she was living with a man who was not her husband.
13:37Yeah, she probably never really knew true love.
13:40Because the men would abandon her, they would discard her, you know.
13:43So, don't fall into that trap.
13:46Don't fall into the devil's trap of wanting to attract the attention of men.
13:50Set yourself apart for the Lord.
13:52Amen?
13:53Be pure and holy in God's eyes.
13:56Because many times you think that vulgarity, the fact that you show too much, is that going to attract men?
14:02It will, but only men who aren't any good.
14:05Men who don't want to walk with God.
14:07Because a man of God is waiting for a woman who keeps herself pure.
14:10Just like a man of God is also keeping himself pure.
14:13You understand?
14:14Even if you think, but there aren't any men of God these days.
14:17There are.
14:17Just like there are women of God too.
14:19So, you have to keep yourself pure.
14:21You have to go to the right places.
14:23So I found what Thais said very interesting.
14:25Because, on the other hand, there are women who think like this.
14:29I don't do anything.
14:30I don't even paint my nails.
14:31I don't cut my hair.
14:33Then, you end up looking like a mess, right?
14:35You look ugly, sloppy.
14:36You don't wear perfume.
14:37You don't take care of yourself.
14:38That's when you really won't find anyone, right?
14:41So, we have to take care of ourselves.
14:43That pleases God.
14:44I found her point of view very interesting.
14:46I'm just going to play a little more.
14:47I won't play the whole video.
14:48Because after that, I want to share a very interesting opinion here.
14:52But unfortunately, we see a lot of people who are caught up in religiosity.
14:57They cling to the laws of the Old Testament.
15:00And they don't see that now we live in a time of grace.
15:04Where God cares about our hearts.
15:07So, I hope you can do a self-evaluation.
15:10Have I been that woman who has behaved with the wrong intentions?
15:14Or have I been that woman who is impeccably dressed in the eyes of others,
15:19but I've acted in ways that displease my God?
15:22In 1 Samuel 16, verse 7, it says this.
15:25But the Lord said to Samuel,
15:28Do not be impressed by his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him.
15:33The Lord does not see as man sees.
15:36Humans see the outside, but the Lord sees the heart.
15:40This passage is beautiful when God speaks to Samuel about David.
15:44Because David was anointed by the Lord.
15:47But David was not what people expected.
15:50He didn't have the appearance that people expected.
15:53But he had a heart that pleased God.
15:56So, God is looking at your heart, woman.
15:58How have you been acting?
16:00God wants you to have actions that please him.
16:03So, I want to share with you now what God expects from a Christian woman.
16:08God expects the Christian woman to dress with modesty, decency and propriety.
16:15So, you shouldn't dress in an exaggerated way.
16:19You shouldn't dress in a vulgar way.
16:21You should be a balanced woman.
16:23Modesty is balance.
16:25It's knowing how to present yourself in the right way.
16:29So, if you like to wear a little necklace or earrings, that won't define your character.
16:34What defines your character are your actions.
16:37What comes from the inside out.
16:40And when God transforms a person, it's not just the heart that is changed.
16:45The whole life is transformed.
16:47I know people that when you look at them, they were completely different.
16:51But when they met Jesus, they were transformed.
16:55Because a woman who is transformed by God is no longer the same.
17:00Her actions will start to change.
17:03Because God, He changes the heart first.
17:06And then it shows on the outside.
17:07My husband, I don't know if you know his testimony.
17:10When he converted, he was going to church.
17:13But he still had trouble letting go of things from his past.
17:16So, he would go with earrings, black nails, red hair, cap.
17:21And he prayed sincerely to God.
17:22He said, look, if people start criticizing me, asking me to take these things off,
17:26I won't go to church anymore.
17:28And thank God, no one criticized Him.
17:31No one pointed at Him anymore.
17:33So, what I want to tell you about this is that many times, we are so quick to judge.
17:37So judgmental.
17:38Let me just pause here.
17:40And it really was like that, you know?
17:42Because I had these really long black nails, right?
17:44I was a rocker mixed with a hippie.
17:46I've shared my testimony here several times already.
17:50And so, my appearance didn't really show that I had been born again.
17:54That I had converted.
17:55But brothers, God was already in my life.
17:58Yeah, the Holy Spirit was already within me, you know?
18:00It's just that these changes would come with time.
18:03And I really prayed that prayer.
18:05If anyone from the church told me to take all this off, I would never set foot in that church
18:09again.
18:10And I think God shut everyone's mouth.
18:12Because a lot of people wanted to say something, but didn't.
18:15I would go with my cap like this.
18:17I wouldn't let anyone see, you know, my eyes.
18:19Because I was so embarrassed, too.
18:21It was all very new to me, you know?
18:24So, the Holy Spirit himself was working in my life.
18:27Of course, if you can, if you have the opportunity, speak with love.
18:31Speak gently.
18:31You, as a woman, should advise another woman.
18:34Right?
18:34A woman always advising a woman.
18:36A man advising a man.
18:38But really, people are judgmental.
18:40Listen to what Thais is going to say, and I'll wrap up and bring my point of view here.
18:45We are living in a time of judges.
18:47Where people point fingers at each other.
18:49Criticize.
18:50Sometimes it's that person who doesn't do anything.
18:52But they're criticizing someone else's church that's actually doing something.
18:56They're criticizing that brother out there.
18:58God wants you to have a heart that pleases Him.
19:01That you have actions that reflect your character before God.
19:06That you are not judgmental.
19:08In the time of Ruth and Naomi, we see that they lived in a time when the land was ruled
19:12by judges.
19:12It wasn't by a king yet.
19:14So the judges, they knew how to make laws to impose rules.
19:18But they didn't know how to feed the people.
19:20The people were starving.
19:22And today we are living in that same time.
19:24Where people are starving for God.
19:27They are not truly being fed by the word.
19:29Because we are living in this time of judges.
19:31People are judging.
19:32They are accusing.
19:33Instead of going to their home, praying, kneeling down, seeking God.
19:38So when you see someone in church, and sometimes that person is wearing very tight clothes.
19:42Sometimes that person isn't living in a way that pleases God.
19:45Instead of criticizing, gossiping to others, or pointing fingers.
19:49Go to your room and pray for that sister.
19:52Pray for God to transform her life.
19:54So that she can be transformed from the inside out.
19:57We need to stop pointing fingers at others.
20:00Look, I'm going to be honest with you.
20:02Last week I made a video talking about clothing.
20:04About how a Christian woman should dress.
20:06I shared here some advice that I learned a long time ago.
20:10About the three ansias.
20:12The three types of clothing that a Christian woman shouldn't wear.
20:15And I was wearing a little pearl necklace.
20:17Which I've had for a long time.
20:18It was a gift.
20:19Something I cherish and value.
20:21And I was wearing that accessory.
20:23And people judged me.
20:24They said I was wearing a shell necklace.
20:26But it wasn't even made of shells.
20:28People judge by what they see.
20:29They think it is.
20:30But it's not what they actually see.
20:32People started saying that I was adorning myself.
20:34So God moved me to bring this video here for you.
20:37To explain that what he cares about most.
20:40Is your heart.
20:41Your actions.
20:42Glory to God brothers and sisters.
20:45I found this video from Thais very uplifting.
20:47And I want to tell you something.
20:50The outward appearance.
20:51Yes.
20:52It is important.
20:53I'm not dismissing that.
20:54A person who truly belongs to God.
20:56Will dress in that way.
20:57In the same way.
20:58The music they listen to will be influenced too.
21:01Everything will be influenced.
21:02You understand?
21:02But that's what Thais said.
21:04We can't judge.
21:05Because sometimes the person is still in the process.
21:08You can give advice.
21:09Yes.
21:09With love.
21:10You can pray for that person.
21:12But yeah.
21:13Sometimes the person doesn't even realize that what they're doing is wrong.
21:16You know.
21:16For example.
21:17When I converted.
21:18About 6 months later.
21:19A year later.
21:20I was still doing it.
21:21I still walked around without a shirt on the street.
21:23Because I was used to it.
21:24Sometimes.
21:25I would leave school.
21:26I would go play soccer.
21:27I would take my shirt off.
21:28And then one day.
21:30A brother from church.
21:31Talked to me.
21:32He said.
21:32Juninho.
21:33It's not right man.
21:34For you to walk around like that.
21:35You're a Christian now.
21:36So that changed the way I thought.
21:38But I thought it was normal.
21:39You know.
21:39I didn't see anything wrong with it.
21:41But let me tell you something.
21:43The worst thing there is.
21:44It's someone who only lives for appearances.
21:47But their heart is far from God.
21:49And in the time of the Apostle Paul.
21:50Like I told you.
21:51Many people.
21:54They thought spirituality was about.
21:56Who appeared to be the most spiritual.
21:58Why?
21:58Because they were used to looking at religious leaders.
22:01And they were always pompous.
22:03Always praying in the squares.
22:06Always showing off their spirituality.
22:08But it was empty.
22:10And then.
22:11Many people tried to keep up appearances.
22:13And they didn't just do that.
22:15They also made up rules in the churches.
22:17Look.
22:17I'm speaking to many people here.
22:19Who have strict rules in their churches about this.
22:21And you have to analyze it in the light of the Bible.
22:24Always keeping it balanced.
22:26Remember what the Apostle Peter said.
22:29Discretion and decency.
22:31And modest in the way you dress.
22:33And look at what Paul said in Colossians 2 verse 23.
22:38He said this.
22:39These rules do indeed have an appearance of wisdom.
22:42With their supposed religiosity.
22:46False humility and harsh treatment of the body.
22:48But they are of no value in restraining the impulses of the flesh.
22:52Amen.
22:53So Paul was trying to say the following.
22:55Look.
22:57You might even want to go without earrings.
22:59You might not want to paint your nails.
23:01You might not fix your hair.
23:02You just go around looking messy.
23:05But that won't guarantee that you will live in holiness.
23:07That's not what makes you live in holiness.
23:10Do you understand?
23:11Holiness is one thing.
23:12It has consequences.
23:16Naturally, you will want to dress modestly.
23:18But if you only dress modestly and don't watch over your heart.
23:21That won't protect you from vanity.
23:23Do you understand?
23:26From envy.
23:27From jealousy.
23:28From the evil in your heart.
23:29From slander.
23:30Right?
23:30The Bible talks about slander.
23:32Which is when you speak badly about others.
23:34When you judge.
23:35When you gossip.
23:36That won't spare you.
23:37And even Paul said, look.
23:39These things even have an appearance of holiness.
23:42Of wisdom.
23:43But that's a false humility.
23:45And that has no value at all for restraining the impulses of the flesh.
23:50So, do you want to overcome sin?
23:52Do you want to overcome the pleasures of the flesh?
23:54It's prayer.
23:55It's you keeping watch.
23:57It's you feeding yourself with the word.
23:59Got it?
24:00And the consequence will be that your outward appearance will change too.
24:04Alright?
24:05I hope you understood this message.
24:06That you liked it.
24:08I'm also going to leave two videos here for you to watch.
24:11Go ahead.
24:11And I'll see you in the next video.
24:13May God bless you mightily.
24:15Big hug.
