00:00The American League West has been one of those upside-down divisions all season long.
00:04It looked like the Houston Astros were out of it in May or June
00:07with a negative run differential of, like, 30 or 40.
00:11Brutal season for them.
00:12All of a sudden, they turn it around, and the Texas Rangers go from a team
00:16that was supposed to win the division that, I mean,
00:19may not even make the playoffs this season.
00:21And they're going to look back to last week.
00:23This past week, Tom, is maybe the reason why.
00:25You cannot do this against the Los Angeles Angels.
00:29And I understand the Angels are headed in the right direction.
00:31I actually really like a lot of the things that they're doing,
00:34and I saw them here in Miami last weekend.
00:36But, Tom, they are playing guys, with all due respect, I have never heard of
00:40at the end of their rotation, in their lineup, like out of the bullpen.
00:44I saw major league debuts going on in August, Tom,
00:48because they're cutting guys and trading guys.
00:50You cannot get swept by the Angels.
00:52The Rangers did, and to make matters worse,
00:54they lost to the worst team in baseball in the A's on Friday night.
00:58Now, Saturday, Skip Schumacher probably took a deep breath and said,
01:02oh, my gosh, thank goodness, we finally won a game here.
01:06But, again, what can you say, Tom?
01:09Texas, Seattle, one of those teams wins five in a row,
01:12all of a sudden they win the division.
01:14That could potentially happen this year.
01:17They could be right back in it.
01:19And also, to make matters worse, is they lost DeGrom in one of those starts.
01:23Now, they didn't say what it officially was.
01:25They said he came out due to tricep soreness or tricep fatigue, whatever it was.
01:29But you're dropping not just one or two.
01:32You're losing the entire series versus the Angels,
01:35who were vying for the worst record in the league overall.
01:38You're going to lose potentially multiple games at the athletics.
01:42It's just unacceptable.
01:44When the division's up for grabs, it's not like they're holding on to a wild card spot
01:47and say, oh, they only have one path to make the postseason.
01:50They could win the division after how bad the division has been overall.
01:54Just an unacceptable week for the Rangers when they didn't do much at the deadline.
