00:18Schools that are appearing as reoccurring characters, I like to say, in some of these shows.

00:29I'm not surprised they made it.
00:31I'm surprised that they were 10.
00:32Like I said, when you think about the number of great Big Ten teams over the years, that's the one.

00:43You go back and look at their season last year.
00:45It's impressive.
00:47They win at Oregon.
00:48They win at Penn State.
00:50They win at Iowa.
00:51They had fourth quarter comebacks.
00:53Then they beat Ohio State.
00:54I think that legitimized it right there.
00:55The moment they beat Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship, you're like, yeah, this team's for real.
01:00Then they just dominate in the playoff run.

01:09Like I said, the hard part with Ohio State is there are Ohio State teams over the years that I

01:15Absolutely.
01:16But they spread the voting out.
01:18One thing, I was talking to Marcus Hartman over the weekend at Ohio State practice, and think about how it
01:23might be different had Ohio State won the national title in 1969 and beat Michigan and gone on to go
01:30back-to-back with that team led by Rex Kern and Jim Otis and Stillwagon, a legendary Ohio State team.
01:36They may be in the top five at that point.
01:39What about the teams we were talking about, 0-2, 14?
01:4514 probably didn't get enough votes.
01:4824 probably didn't get enough votes as the first team.
01:50But when you spread all those out among seven Ohio State teams, it makes it a little more difficult.
01:55You mentioned Penn State not having a team on there.
01:58Michigan not having a team on there.
01:59Their votes were spread out between 97-23 and then a 19-01 team that I'll admit I didn't watch
02:06them play.
02:07But, you know, that was in an era of football where it's really hard.
02:12You almost have to do two separate lists now that I look back at it, Bobby.
02:15You almost have to do, like, pre-World War II and after World War II.
02:19You know what I mean?
02:20And that's what I was looking at.
02:22Like, I struggled, you know, 90s and 2000s, definitely wheelhouse, watching a ton, playing in there.
02:29Felt like I had a pretty good understanding of the 80s.
02:32But, like, 70s, it starts to get a little dicey for me, you know, just as far as I know
02:39a lot of Ohio State.
02:39I know, you know, some of the big-time programs, but not intricately enough.
02:44And I know you go on Ryan Fowler's show down in Tuscaloosa.
02:49And I asked him, I did a poll in the audience a little bit.
02:52I go, give me your top three Alabama teams.
02:54And he's like, ooh.
02:56And he's, like, going through.
02:57He's like, well, which ones are the most nostalgic?
02:59Which ones maybe mean the most?
03:00I'm like, Ryan, I don't care, like, 0-2 I was a part of, but we weren't the best.
03:04Give me your top three, like, best teams.
03:07If you were to say, this is the best example that we have of what greatness in our program looks
03:11like.
03:12And he came out with that 20-20 team.
03:14You look at the receivers and how good they were, scoring these.
03:17That 11 team with Saban was unbelievable, too.
03:20Really balanced on both sides.
03:21And those were kind of the two that he landed on.
03:24And it's crazy to kind of see that.
03:27But, you know, some of these teams go back and forth and trying to figure all that out.
03:31But it seemed like almost, because he's around our age.
03:35He's like, I don't have a true knowledge of a lot of the Bear Bryant stuff.
03:38And I felt like it would be almost probably better, Bill, like 75 maybe and on.
03:43And then kind of before that, because I feel like 75, like, that's when there's a delineation a little bit
03:50in kind of how the game's being played.
03:52There's more passing.
03:52And it kind of seems more of, quote, the modern era of football, if you will.
03:57Well, I like what Steele said that, you know, you always hear, like, a team from today would beat a
04:03team from 1972 or whatever.
04:05Well, that's probably true.
04:06But that doesn't mean that, like, Johnny Rogers at Nebraska wasn't Reggie Bush of his era.
