00:00Suck it up. Defunding the police has to happen. We need to defund the police.
00:04Mayor Eric Garcetti saying take some of the money from policing about 150 million dollars.
00:08I applaud Eric Garcetti for doing what he's done.
00:11Not only do we need to disinvest in police, but we need to completely dismantle the Minneapolis
00:18Police Department. So yes, defund your butts, defund you.
00:22Yes, I support the reallocation of resources from NYPD.
00:27We will be moving funding from the NYPD to youth initiatives and social services.
00:33They are talking about reducing the allocation of resources to that department,
00:38and I think every single city in this country ought to be thinking about the same thing.
00:43Yes, I support the defund movement. I'm for responsible reallocation of resources.
00:48And defund the police.
00:49I think you do all those other things, you don't need all the money that's going to the police
00:53department. So yeah, I mean the spirit of it, I do support that.
00:56Yeah, and you know a lot of us were asked if we could imagine a future without police
01:00back in 2017 when we were running for office, and I answered yes to that question.
01:05We are going to reduce funding in the police department and redirect that money.
01:09There's no reason the police budget should just keep growing and growing and growing.
01:13They can make sensible cuts to policing.
01:16We propose to redirect over seven million dollars from the police bureau.
01:21That our city, through our city administrative officer, identified 250 million dollars in cuts.
01:28Rashida Tlaib tweeting, no more policing, incarceration and militarization, it can't be reformed.
01:33When they're saying defund the police, what are they saying?
01:37They're saying we want fundamental basic change when it comes to policing.
01:44I wanted to do something a little bit different today because I came across a video earlier and
01:50it gave me a great idea. And I want to highlight today some of our great and brave
02:01folks in the police force who put their lives on the line every single day.
02:07That, you know, they don't know who they're walking up on or anything like that.
02:12Police officers die all the time, right?
02:15I'm thinking of a video right now of a police officer dying after he was trying to to help
02:20a guy and the guy ended up, you know, pulling out an assault rifle and yeah, going to town with
02:28it, unfortunately. But yeah, I got a couple of videos that I want to highlight.
02:33All right. We're going to break things up a little bit.
02:35I mean, it had a little bit. It does kind of tie into politics because, of course,
02:40you know, Democrats want to defund the police. They want to get rid of the police,
02:44as you guys saw in that first clip there. But I just wanted to do something a little
02:50different today. All right. Let's jump into it, shall we? Here's the first clip I got for you.
02:55Lieutenant Mike Hotz was called to Victory Memorial Bridge in Nashville amid reports that a man was
03:01live streaming his plans to jump. And this, what happened next, was caught on Hotz's body camera.
03:08Hey, man. My name's Mike.
03:14Can I just holler at you?
03:17Okay. I hear you're frustrated. I just want to help you
03:22talk through this bad, this worst day of your life. And I know it is. I just want you to
03:28know that
03:28you're a good man, and I don't think you're a bad man. I just want you to feel like you
03:41are loved
03:41here because you are. Can I come shake your hand? I'm not going to try nothing crazy. I'll step right
03:46back when I'm done. I promise you. To the Lord himself. Can I shake your hand? And I'll step right
03:55back.
04:00You good?
04:04I love you. It's going to be all right. It's going to be all right. It's going to be all
04:12right.
04:14Unbelievable, right? Lieutenant Mike Hotz is with us now. And Lieutenant, I know we can hear you. I
04:21think we're having an issue with seeing you in our signal. But we can see this video of you,
04:26which I think is the most important thing here. It's just unbelievable. Tell us more about how this
04:31unfolded and how you approached this as this, you know, obviously went in a direction that we all
04:39would hope it would go. This individual was on a social media platform live streaming and several
04:48citizens called in out of concern because he was making statements that he was going to commit
04:55suicide and we were dispatched. And after a couple minutes, we were able to pinpoint his exact location.
05:02And as it happened, I was the first vehicle that rolled up on scene.
05:08And what was your approach going in? What was going through your mind as to how you wanted to
05:14connect with him? Because obviously, you're trying to use compassion and empathy within yourself to
05:20convince him to not do the unthinkable, right? And I imagine at that moment, he is feeling a lot of
05:29strain and frustration and you were able to connect with that. I wonder how.
05:37I just wanted to empathize with him, let him know that I was there to listen, let him know that
05:43we
05:43cared and that he wasn't in any kind of trouble, that we just wanted to help him through the worst
05:51moment of the worst day of his life.
05:52And I know you're a combat veteran. Obviously, there's such a mental health crisis and also a
06:01suicide crisis that's happening with our veterans that demand so much of our attention. Did that
06:07inform your approach to him at all as you were thinking maybe about other people that you'd served
06:13with? It absolutely did. My experience in the military definitely informed some of the actions I took.
06:26Veterans are disproportionately affected by suicide and mental health issues and combat veterans doubly so,
06:32if not more. And I've encountered several individuals, several of my brothers and sisters,
06:38who have gone through crisis moments. And I just wanted to draw upon those moments and focus them
06:46all on this individual at this specific time, at this day and bring about a safe resolution to the situation.
06:57Kudos to that officer, man. Fantastic job. Fantastic job. But, you know, of course, if you listen to the
07:03left, if you listen to these far leftists, you know, cops are bad. Cops are horrible people.
07:09But you just saw there a cop saved someone's life. All right. I got another one for you. Check it
07:14out.
07:16Hey, what's going on? I'm pregnant. I'm homeless and I'm forgot that I'm done.
07:21Okay. So you're trying to get treatment? Yeah.
07:31But I have no way to get there. Which location do you have to go to?
07:35The one on G. Gibson Street. Okay. There's stuff in the back of my car. Just put it right here.
07:41Do you have anything in your pockets or anything? Just a phone.
07:43Okay. You want to go get a burger on the way? Are you in a huge hurry to get in
07:52there?
07:52Or you want to take an extra 10 minutes? I'm fine taking an extra 10 minutes. I'm always free.
07:58All right.
08:04So what would you like at White Castle? A cup of cheese cider. Anything else?
08:10Yes. You want to make it a meal? Yeah, that's fine. Okay. Would you like to sit down and have
08:17your food? Or do you want to come out?
08:19What do you eat? Yeah, if you want to come out and stand up and eat. Or if you want
08:22to sit down. I don't know if you've been
08:23Yeah, I'll stand up.
08:25I'll stand up.
08:25Here, we'll get up on the hood of the car.
08:27It's okay.
08:29It's okay with your turn. It's 16 or so minutes.
08:32There you go.
08:36Was he always going to be a cop?
08:38No. You know, it's funny.
08:39When I was a kid.
08:45I'll take the trash over there. I'm going to get rid of this one.
08:49All right. Let's get you down there so I don't get in trouble for taking too long.
08:53Thank you very much.
08:55You're welcome.
08:58Hey, this young lady is very pregnant.
09:01Hey.

09:46beautiful um i've got a couple more trying to see here we'll go with this one we'll go with this
09:53actually i might have played this before but anyway here it is what's with the attitude just

10:42i moved down here to get away from an abusive relationship and i'm clean and i'm sober for
10:49four months what's with the attitude just curious another simple story of compassion right the cop
10:59didn't get an attitude with her because she gave him an attitude he didn't lose his cool or anything
11:05like that showed some compassion because he understood there was somebody who
11:13just wasn't in a great situation at the time and look how it turned out but according to the far
11:19left
11:20cops are all horrible terrible no good very bad people and we should just uh get rid of them

13:05connect four and the cop literally beat him while he wasn't even really paying attention
13:12having a full-blown side conversation and still putting belt the behind in the connect four game
13:19incredible incredible but you know i i just i just came across you know those clips well that
