00:08a webinar to help illegals avoid, I guess, apprehension, giving tips about how to continue

00:15to remain in the country and ultimately gain the system.

00:20And I sent an email today to the Deputy Attorney General, at what level is that impediment?

00:25I'm not an attorney, I'm not a prosecutor.

00:28Is that impeding our law enforcement efforts?

00:30If so, what are we going to do about it?

00:32Is she crossing the line?

00:34So I'm working with the Department of Justice and finding out, where is that line that they

00:39crossed?

00:39So maybe AOC is going to be in trouble now, but I need the AOG to opine on that, because

00:44there's an impediment, it's impediment, in my opinion.

00:47I'm not a prosecutor, but we need some further guidance on that.

00:51But again, if we have to take every federal dollar out of the city, we'll do it.

00:55This is about public safety, this is about community safety, knowingly releasing a public

01:05You're putting the public at great risk, you're putting our officers at great risk, you're

01:09even putting the illegal alien at great risk, because anything can happen on an arrest on

01:13So we just want to make common sense, and sanctuary cities, they want to step aside, step aside,

01:48some advice to her constituents on how to avoid detainment.

01:56And she recently ran to NPR.

02:04You had a recent dispute, if that's the right word, with Tom Homan, the president's Homeland

02:10Security czar, so-called.

02:13You held an online forum, a Know Your Rights forum, that he didn't like.

02:17What were you doing?

02:18What was your goal as you saw it?

02:20My job is to educate and act as a liaison of critical information to my constituents.

02:28And I was informing all of my constituents of their constitutional protections, and in

02:35particular, their constitutional protections against illegal search and seizure in the United

02:42States.

02:43Homan was upset, I suppose, because he felt that you were giving advice to people who

02:47were here illegally.

02:48Were you?

02:49I was giving advice to all of my constituents.

02:52Yeah.

02:53He said he was going to report you or even that he did reach out to the Department of

02:57Justice.

02:57Have you heard from the Department of Justice?

02:59I have not, and I intend on reaching out to the Department of Justice to inquire.

03:04What would your question be for the Department of Justice?

03:07Well, there is a member of the Trump administration who is threatening and seeks to open an inquiry,

03:13and are you going to do it?

03:15What would you learn?

03:16What do you hope to learn from that exchange?

03:18I think it's important to know where this administration stands and if they intend on using political

03:24intimidation to silence their critics.

03:27Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, ain't that ironic, huh?

03:33Because isn't that what Joe Biden and all of you Democrats were just doing to Trump?

03:38But we ain't going to talk about that.

03:45According to the law, you're a criminal.

03:48And notice she was very careful with her words too, okay?

04:02And the thing, like, AOC knows this, and that's why you saw her choosing her words very, very

04:12carefully as she was talking about this, because that's important, the way that she words this.

04:17And of course, yeah, she did, uh, write a letter, of course.

04:25Um, I write to request clarity on whether the Department of Justice has yielded to political

04:31pressure in attempts to weaponize the agency against elected officials whose speech they

04:36disagree with.

04:38No, this isn't just speech we disagree with.

04:41This is actually against the law.

04:44Uh, and, uh, and, and seeking clarity on the law, I don't think is a bad thing.

04:50Uh, Tom Holman asks for clarity.

04:53That's a good thing.

04:54So we're not in the dark about this.

04:57AOC is not the only person in trouble.

04:59Uh, some of these mayors of the cities are in trouble as well.

05:05Uh, Boston's mayor, Denver's mayor, as well as, um, Chicago's mayor.

05:12And then, uh, we have New York city's mayor are in some hot water and some real hot water.

05:19And, uh, they recently had to testify in front of Congress and, uh, this is how it went.

05:26Mayor Johnston, um, are you willing to go to jail for violating federal law?

05:30The city of Chicago complies with all laws.

05:33Oh, I highly doubt that.

05:35We are not violating federal law.

05:36Mayor Wu, I have a last couple of questions for you.

05:39Um, do you believe that ICE arresting a child rapist, quote, threatens everyone's safety, end quote?

05:53I would like to hold up this quote of you where you say ICE's efforts actually threaten the safety of

06:40Um, I'd just like to point out, and Mr. Chairman, if I could enter the Boston Trust Act into the

06:45record.

06:51Um, on page, or let's see, section 4AA, um, a law enforcement office, official and employment

06:57of the City Department agency or commission, shall not, and then A, inquire of an individual

07:01on his or her immigration status.

07:04Um, under Title VIII, U.S. Code subsection 1373 stipulates that local governments cannot

07:10prohibit or restrict communication with federal immigration authorities regarding individuals'

07:15immigration status, so your enforcement of this act is in direct violation of that statute.

07:19Can you please confirm?

07:21That is not the truth.

07:23I don't know about you, but U.S. Code does not lie.

07:25We do not ask about immigration status, and that is what makes us safe in the city.

07:29Mayor Johnston, you said in your testimony that the first step you took after illegal

07:33aliens arrived was to provide them with housing.

07:35Is that correct, yes or no?

07:37Folks that were on the streets, uh, freeze and death, we gave access to shelter.

07:41Yes, we did.

07:42Um, not to be rude here, but you have a good understanding of what the definition of harboring

07:47is, correct?

07:48I do.

07:48Uh, for those that might not harboring means to knowingly or recklessly provide shelter

07:53or place to stay for an illegal alien, and according to Title 8 of U.S. Code Subsection

07:591324, that is also a federal crime.

08:02Um, just to be clear, did you also say that you would be willing to go to jail to stop

08:07deportation

08:08efforts?

08:09Uh, I, uh, I did say that I'd be willing to stand up for all of our residents, and, uh,

08:14the context was that was the point at which the administration was threatening to deploy

08:16the U.S. military to streets of our cities to pull kids out of schools and churches.

08:20So we were worried about that.

08:36Um, my final question would be for you, Mr. Uh, Mayor Johnson.

08:40Do you believe that Chicago's welcoming city ordinance encourages illegal aliens to enter the United

08:45States, specifically into Chicago, yes or no?

08:48Mr. No.

08:51Um, so you don't believe that banning the transfer of individuals into ICE custody for the purpose

08:56of civil immigration enforcement encourages illegal immigration into Chicago?

09:01Or how about agencies, sorry, one second, or agents not being able to stop, arrest, or detain

09:06individuals based solely on their immigration status or administrative warrants?

09:10Mr. So we comply with all laws, local, state, and federal.

09:12To me, after this line of questioning, it's very clear that these policies that you have

09:18all implicated are active and alive and well in your cities are in direct violation with

09:23U.S. Title 8, Code Subsection 1324, and it is a federal offense.

09:28But you all speak about a broken immigration system, and yet here you guys are aiding and

09:34abetting in that entire process.

09:36I want to be very clear about something.

09:38Open border policies, which is something that you guys are talking about, hurts people on

09:42both sides, meaning the people that are coming here illegally and then American citizens as

09:46well.

09:47Um, I do not think you guys are bad people, but I think that you are ideologically misled,

09:52which is why, unfortunately, based on your responses, I'm all going to be criminally referring

09:57you to the Department of Justice for investigation.

09:59And as soon as I leave here, these will be going over to Pam Bondi.

10:38How much has the city of Chicago spent on illegal immigration?

10:41If you refer into the 2022 up to 2024 of the buses coming from Texas, roughly the same

10:49percentage of the state of Texas, about 1% of our overall budget.
