00:10The 36-year-old former Queensland state of origin forward appeared in Brisbane Magistrates
00:15Court today the 13th of August where he was committed to stand trial in the District Court.
00:21Maguire is charged with choking, suffocation or strangulation against a child as well as
00:27common assault over an alleged incident at a Brisbane residence on November 21st.
00:33Prosecutors alleged the incident left marks on the child's neck, with Magistrate Belinda
00:38Merrin describing the alleged assault as extremely serious.
00:42Maguire who played 259 NRL games during a 15-season career did not enter a plea and declined to
00:50comment as he left court.
