00:02A Queensland mum has been charged with murder
00:04after her four-year-old daughter was found dead
00:07inside a home west of Brisbane.
00:10Emergency services were called to a property in Lowood
00:13about 11.10pm on Monday 25 May 2026,
00:18where police discovered the young girl deceased
00:21inside the residence.
00:23Police said two other children, both under the age of three,
00:27were also inside the home at the time,
00:29but were not physically injured.
00:3131-year-old Jessie Renee Phillips was remanded in custody
00:35and is due to face court again next month.
00:38Upon arriving at the address, the child was located unsponsored
00:43and despite the efforts of both police and paramedics,
00:46she was declared deceased at the scene.
00:48Police immediately commenced investigations into what it transpired,
00:52including speaking with the 31-year-old woman
00:54who was present at the scene,
00:55who has been identified as the deceased child's mother.
01:00After a number of inquiries,
01:02the woman has been charged with one count of murder
01:04and is to appear in the youths,
01:05which magistrates court this afternoon.
01:09I can say the woman resided at a location with three children,
01:13one being the child subject to this investigation.
01:17And on that point,
01:18the remaining two children are in the care of family members
01:21and their well-being remains a priority for all involved.
01:25This is an incredibly tragic situation,
01:28which is even more tragic
01:32given the presence of the other young children
01:34in the dwelling at a time.
01:36And our thoughts are with the child family
01:38and everyone else that's been affected by this incident.
