01:52respectful way to do it, that he'd like to wear number seven.

02:09What I've been saying is, like, I hated what happened before because I feel like that's why
02:13they needed to retire these jerseys, not just have them not in circulation, because it puts
02:17guys like you in a bad spot.
02:18The way I thought it was, like, people have to call you and ask you permission, and my
02:22point's always, why are you putting Joe Theismann in that spot?
02:25He either says no and people are mad at him, or he says yes, and then someone wears the
02:30number that should be his and his only.
02:33So it's like a weird spot for you, but it isn't actually that anybody's calling you,
02:36you're saying.

03:53And this young man called me and say, Mr. Mitchell, I would like to wear the number.
03:57And I say, what's your grades?
03:59And he told me, and I called Troy Wingarder and I saw the kid was doing, handling this business
04:04in class and on the field.
04:07And I say, let him wear the number.
04:10And then after he finished wearing it, it went back into retirement.
04:13And if somebody else wanted to come again, I'm going to always go, what kind of grades
04:17you have?
04:17You know, but you do have a part of it.
04:21You know, what you say is going to carry some weight.
04:26So it's not, it's because, let's be real, it's up to the team.
04:29But if you were to say no and you're that big of a legend, they're not going to try to
04:34make you mad.

06:23For me, that seven has been worn since Theismann, that Haskins wore it, makes it a little easier to swallow.

06:38Diggs, I believe, turns 30.
06:40His birthday's in November.
06:42I can't remember if he's turning 33 or 34.
06:50But if you let Diggs wear it this year, it's probably just for this year.

07:06the level of respect you have, and I'm showing my respect as well.
