00:04We're talking about the injury, the Laramie Tunsil.
00:07We had Logan Paulson on earlier.
00:11Of course, I think it's going to be season-ending.
00:14We'll see.
00:14He's going to have surgery on his triceps.
00:16It's funny.
00:17When you watch the video of him with the one-on-one,
00:19it's very like, you know, it doesn't look extraordinary.
00:23You know, it's just a little one-on-one little battle.
00:25It kind of goes after him.
00:26Now, always a big dude.
00:27I'm paying him on him for a reason.
00:28But it's kind of strange that you can just kind of reach out there
00:32and tear your triceps like that.
00:34I mean, people can tear their triceps working out.
00:36I understand that because you're pushing a lot of weight.
00:39I guess, you know, you're doing the same thing.
00:40Pushing a heavy man.
00:42When's he supposed to have the surgery?
00:43It was unimpressive to me.
00:46It was kind of freakish, like a freak injury.
00:49Let's say recovery typically is four to seven months.
00:52Maybe some guys have come back a little quicker.
00:54But if you've seen, you know how they have these sick videos
00:56where you can kind of see even like these animations
00:58of what they do with the injury.
01:00I mean, it's really wild when they dig in there
01:02and they kind of connect the triceps all together again.
01:05But as you can tell, it's a big deal.
01:06And it's going to take a while to get back.
01:09They seem pretty resolute in giving Brandon Coleman the job.
01:12A couple little anecdotes.
01:14Of course, we had Logan on earlier in the first segment.
01:17If you guys want to listen to that later, be sure to check that out.
01:19But he talks about how, you know, if you remember in 24,
01:24they obviously had success.
01:25He was a third-round pick.
01:26He started, what, 12, 13 of those games that year.
01:29They won 14 in total when you count the playoff games.
01:32And he was considered, you know, an adequate, you know,
01:35up-and-coming left tackle.
01:37People were kind of surprised that they went out and brought in Tunsell.
01:40But there still was, you know, obviously he could be better.
01:43They felt they could upgrade and obviously upgrade with Tunsell.
01:46So last year, kind of back and forth, even I think kind of benched even
01:50when they moved him to guard for a period of time.
01:52But he did start the last three games at tackle, left tackle specifically,
01:57and graded out very well.
01:59So there is some reason for optimism.
02:02Everybody comments, you know, on his athleticism and how smart he is.
02:08Ben Standig, I listened to him on Sheehan's show.
02:11He had, I thought, an interesting anecdote about him.
02:14I guess there's been some concern with him with, you know,
02:17maybe fighting through some injuries and playing through some knick-knack things.
02:20Those are some things he's had to learn to deal with.
02:22But that he's a really bright, mature kid.
02:25Ben apparently, after every season goes around and he asks players questions.
02:29And one of the questions he went around last year, he may do it every year,
02:32is if you have to pick one player to go to the Pro Bowl from this team,
02:35who would you pick?
02:36He picked his competitor.
02:38He picked Chris Paul.
02:39It said that the way Chris stepped in and Ben was really struck by,
02:44well, that's your competitor.
02:47It would be pretty hard for me to pick my competitor.
02:49And he's like, yeah, well, it's not his fault.
02:51You know, he played great.
02:52I thought he filled in well.
02:53And I thought he deserved a Pro Bowl.
02:55So it kind of tells you the maturity of the kid, bright kid, hardworking,
03:02third-round pick.
03:04Some people did say coming into the draft that he would maybe be better suited
03:09to guard, which is why ultimately they moved him there.
03:12But he did play left tackle in 24, and they did win 12 regular season games
03:17with him primarily being there.
03:19So, Dan Orlovsky, Valdez was telling me, I tried to find it real quick
03:24right before I got on, but then I just had to find the hit the skins read,
03:29made a comment about it being a season-altering injury.
03:34And, you know, I guess that's true.
03:36You lose one of the top three left tackles in football.
03:39But I don't think it's over just because of that.
03:42I do think that Coleman will, if he can stay healthy, be an adequate replacement.
03:47Yeah.
03:47Not over, but it changes you.
03:52Logan Paulson said it himself.
03:53He's like, he was up and down as a rookie, but he's a rookie.
03:56He can be good.
03:57But Laramie Tunsil was one of the best.
03:58So there's going to be a couple plays, which could be defining plays in a season
04:04because when a quarterback gets sacked on the blind side, they could fumble.
04:10It could be a game-changing play.
04:12And so there could be one or two plays that Laramie Tunsil wouldn't have allowed
04:17that Brandon Coleman will.
04:18For sure.
04:19And the altering part from the quarterback's perspective, Dan Orlowski,
04:23former quarterback, is, well, they probably are going to now have more help on that side.
04:28Definitely.
04:29Where Tunsil would have just left out on an island, one-on-one, say, hey, do your thing.
04:32Pretty much shut everybody down.
04:34Now they're going to bring a tight end over.
04:35They're going to bring a running back over.
04:37Yeah, it changes things.
04:38They're going to double-team.
04:38You know, some have said, you know, you might not.
04:40Are you going to be able to run some of the longer developing plays now
04:45when you don't have your left side as locked down potentially?
04:48So there's no question about it.
04:50There was a lot of eyeballs on Coleman yesterday.
04:53I know our buddy Mitch Tisler tweeted.
04:55You know, he's always locked in on the offensive line, guys, from Monumental.
05:00And he was over there, and he said, first couple reps, Coleman did very well
05:05against Owe, riding him around the edge, he said.
05:08And then the second one, they did some little stunt on him or whatever,
05:12and he passed it off well.
05:14So everybody's watching.
05:16I saw several reports that Coleman had a good practice yesterday.
05:20So, I mean, obviously, it's one practice.
05:21Don't make too big of a deal about it.
05:24But I think the team feels pretty confident,
05:27and I think it's telling that they have signed a few guys,
05:31but I don't think any of the offensive linemen that they've signed recently
05:34are necessarily guys that are expected to stick,
05:37and they haven't gone around and dumped, you know, a lot of money
05:40into trying to get a replacement or make a move.
05:44Who was it yesterday?
05:45There was somebody that was moved yesterday.
05:48There was a trade for a tackle, and somebody was maybe released,
05:54and people thought that the commanders might be in play for him,
05:57and they may be, but so far, they're going with Coleman.
06:00I also think that Adam Peters is shown to be methodical.
06:05He's not rushing things.
06:07The Stephon Diggs is an example.
06:08I mean, for weeks, if not months, we talked about
06:11when are they going to add a No. 2 receiver,
06:13and we went through the whole Brandon Ayuk saga,
06:15and they landed on Stephon Diggs,
06:17who's arguably better than Brandon Ayuk.
06:20Look, I think that, yeah, I mean, like Logan said,
06:25Tunsell was top three, top five at his position,
06:27so you're going to feel it a little bit,
06:28but you're going to help him out.
06:30You're going to help Coleman out, right?
06:32You're going to move guys over,
06:34especially if you're going against a legit edge rusher,
06:37so you're going to give him help.
06:39And look, the team's not a one-man team.
06:42You've got another 52 guys that have to help win games,
06:45so I think you've got to feel pretty good for the simple fact
06:49that when they drafted Coleman out of TCU,
06:52they drafted him the third round.
06:54I remember them saying that we were shocked
06:56that he was still available in the third round,
06:58so they really liked him there.
06:59They thought he would go in the second.
06:59Yeah, I think they have a pretty good replacement,
07:01maybe better than most,
07:03and we'll see how far it takes them.
07:05Again, the No. 1 overriding factor for me,
07:07and I hope you guys can shove this in my face
07:09and say you were just so wrong,
07:10but the schedule looks so daunting.
07:12We've just got to get through this first couple weeks,
07:14steal a few wins,
07:14and hopefully we can surprise some people
07:16maybe with some coverages and some formations
07:22and steal a couple of these early games
07:24and then be off and running.
07:25Well, let's be clear about the Coleman thing.
07:27If he's terrible in the preseason,
07:29they'll go out and get somebody.
07:30They have cap space.
07:31But that won't mean they necessarily get somebody great.
07:32They're not in a rush.
07:33They're kind of a wait-and-see deal right now.
07:36Yeah, but I think that they're reasonably confident,
07:38and there's some reason to be,
07:39especially with him playing the last three games last year
07:42at a pretty high level.
07:44And again, I personally like it when people rave about a guy's athleticism,
07:50and that's what everybody says about this guy.
07:51It's not just some big fat guy.
07:53Like, this is a big guy who's an athlete.
07:55And most of them are, but sometimes they aren't always.
07:59They came out.
08:00We talked about it a little bit yesterday,
08:01and we talked about it a little bit with Logan,
08:03with their unofficial depth chart.
08:05Again, don't take it too seriously.
08:08No, but it's an indicator.
08:10I thought it was interesting.
08:11The one I think that jumped out at most was that Luke McCaffrey
08:14was the third receiver after McLaurin and Diggs.
08:20Some people might have thought,
08:21and maybe it would be a De'Ami or a Traylon Burks.
08:26Or the rookie.
08:28Antonio Williams.
08:29Antonio Williams, yeah.
08:30And I do expect Antonio Williams to have an impact,
08:34but it would be interesting.
08:35I know Ben Standick came out with his 53-man projection,
08:38and with the addition of Diggs,
08:41and Ben's usually pretty good at this kind of thing,
08:43he has now extended the wide receiver room to seven.
08:46And I do think that's what it's going to be.
08:48Does he have De'Ami as the seventh?
08:50He has De'Ami in there.
08:51He says he wants to have De'Ami as a lock.
08:54Right.
08:55But, you know.
08:57So Jefferson would be out, De'Ami would be out.
08:59Jefferson would be out.
09:00And again, remember, they think of this in terms of 53,
09:03but also in terms of 70.
09:04So if they cut Jefferson and he's out there,
09:07they'll bring him right back, and he'll be here,
09:10as will probably some of these other guys.
09:12The other guy that's kind of raising eyebrows
09:14is the undrafted free agent,
09:15the kid from the math, the Jaden Bradley.
09:17Bradley, right.
09:18Who's got some size to him.
09:19Who, you know, will probably be cut,
09:21but if they can bring him back and stash him
09:23and have him on their 70, that makes some sense.
09:26Offensive line, they hadn't really addressed that yet.
09:29They still have Tunsell listed as one,
09:31and then Wiley, I guess, or Brandon Coleman.
09:34I think Coleman's going to get the nod there.
09:37Chris Paul, you've got to assume, will be at guard.
09:39Alec Grady, if he could stay healthy.
09:41And then Cosme and Connerly,
09:43you've got to feel pretty good about that part.
09:45Is Julian Good-Jones still number one right now?
09:49I think he's the one filling in number one for Alec Grady.
09:52Because I know they brought in a couple guys,
09:54but I assume Good-Jones was the one.
09:56Most of the others, I don't see anything
09:57that really jumps out at me.
10:00Defensively, I mentioned it with Logan.
10:02Not surprised that Sonny Stiles is listed there
10:05on the first line.
10:07Expect to plug and play that guy.
10:08I am a little bit surprised,
10:09at least in terms of this depth chart,
10:11that they have Chennault listed with the second string.
10:13But how many linebackers did they list?
10:15They listed four.
10:16They listed Owe, Stiles, Luvu, and then Chason.
10:19Okay, so they're listing kind of the defensive ends
10:21as outside linebackers.
10:22Outside linebackers, right.
10:23That's the thing is that, see,
10:25I consider those guys defensive ends.
10:27Owe.
10:28I don't really consider them a linebacker.
10:30But some of it is just kind of how they term it.
10:33And I do think that nowadays,
10:35you see more often five defensive backs on the field
10:39and only two linebackers.

10:41So there's going to be some rotation.
10:43And if Sonny Stiles is as good as Logan was telling us,
10:46he's going to be on the field more.
10:48So it'll be Luvu and Chennault kind of probably rotating.

11:24how things will play out.

11:37Jeremy Reeves got the inside edge on that spot.
11:41So that's interesting.

11:44Amos is coming off the broken leg.

11:47rolls his ankle or does something there.
11:49So he's kind of day-to-day right now.

12:01remember he's the guy from Detroit that he's,

12:05being brought in also for leadership,
12:07those kinds of things.

12:10There's just some question mark about how good Mikey Sandstrom really is.
12:13I know he's kind of a leader.
12:15I know that rookie season last year,
12:18kind of a step back.
12:18I think in both seasons,
12:19he led the team in turnovers caused,
12:23I think,
12:23and interception,
12:24I think,
12:24but yeah,
12:25less last season,
12:26a little less than desired.
12:27It's weird.
12:28You get a distorted view because they'll show these clips.
12:31And often when these one-on-ones,
12:32and sometimes Sandstrom's the one guy getting beat,
12:35but you know,
12:36he's going against Terry McLaurin.
12:37Yeah.
12:38So who knows?
12:40And again,
12:41the kicking game,
12:43it appeared going before yesterday,
12:45Drew Stevens was pulling away.
12:47And I still would say he probably is.
12:51But as I think as Logan said,
12:55or maybe it was outstanding when I was listening to him earlier with Kevin Sheehan,
12:59Jake Moody actually started off camp great.

13:02And then he's hit a cold streak over the last four or five practices.
13:05Missed four kicks yesterday,
13:07but then Drew Stevens came in and he missed three.
13:09It strikes me that they don't even kick that many field goals in training camp.

13:13when we played the David Blau clip earlier in the show,
13:16he was talking about tracking every Jaden Daniels pass for the last three seasons.
13:20And I'm sure the kickers do more,
13:22but we always just hear,

13:23they went four for six.

13:25Why aren't they kicking like 50?

13:29they don't want to wear the guys out.
