00:06well hello there folks and a very warm welcome back to what's for tea it's lovely to see you
00:12again and i hope that i find you very well and thanks for coming over to check out this week's
00:17archive recipe this one is only from about two years ago but it's one of my favorites
00:22so i said i'm going to pop it back up again i'm adding bacon into this but shredded chicken
00:27is lovely in this as well you could add sweet corn mushrooms peas leeks herbs whatever you like so
00:33let me hand you over to me from a couple of years ago and i will catch up with you
00:38just at the end
00:39so into a large pan you want to put your potatoes cover those up with some cold water and you
00:45want
00:45to get your potatoes up to the boil if you cover them they'll get up to the boil a lot
00:49quicker
00:50then once they're boiling you want to get some salt and put a good dash of salt in there probably
00:55a
00:55couple of tablespoons just to make sure your water is nice and salty bring that back up to the boil
01:01and you want to simmer these for about 15 minutes just to make sure they're quite soft and then while
01:06they're boiling away you can go on and do your sauce so in a frying pan pop some olive oil
01:11then to that
01:12i'm going to add one medium onion which i've just sliced up on top of that i'm going to put
01:17some salt
01:18because that helps to draw out the moisture and it will help them cook a bit quicker give those a
01:23wee stir around and let those cook for about five minutes just until they're starting to soften up
01:29and then to that i'm going to add some garlic so i've got one teaspoon of minced garlic you can
01:34use
01:34fresh garlic if you prefer if you're using fresh garlic i would use two garlic cloves and just slice
01:40them up or you know crush them down cook that for about a minute and i'm going to add some
01:45cooked ham
01:45you can use bacon if you prefer i've just got some cooked ham there that i need to use up
01:50so i'm just going to use this just cut this into small chunks or chop up into small pieces
01:56if you're using bacon this will take you a wee bit longer because with the cooked ham
02:00you just want to basically warm it through before you move on if you're using bacon you will make
02:05you obviously you'll need to make sure it's thoroughly cooked all the way through before you
02:10move on to the next stage so i'm going to pop in one can of heinz cream of chicken soup
02:16and i'm also going to add half a can of the campbell's condensed chicken soup just because
02:21it's that much thicker it's going to give you a saucer sauce at the end and it's not going to
02:26be
02:26too runny so this is just what i'm doing here you can add the whole can of condensed soup if
02:31you like
02:32if you want to extra saucy but this was fine for me so just give everything a good stir together
02:38and bring that back up to a simmer so just make sure everything is well combined that's a wee bit
02:44thicker as you can see but it's going to give you a lovely sauce at the end so once it's
02:49bubbling away
02:50like this that is your sauce done so you can pop that to the side just for now and by
02:55now your potatoes
02:56will be ready to be drained so just drain the water out and let those sit for a couple of
03:01minutes
03:01until they cool down a wee bit so that you can handle them you don't want to burn your fingers
03:05off
03:05grab yourself a large oven dish we're going to put a layer of the sauce on the bottom just to
03:10make
03:11sure your potatoes don't stick and it's all nice and gooey with a knife you just want to chop these
03:17randomly into slices or chunks it really doesn't matter because it's all just going to get covered
03:22up anyway so it doesn't have to be neat and pretty so just do that with all your potatoes and
03:28then you
03:28want to put the rest of your sauce directly on top of the potatoes just kind of dot it around
03:33so that all of the potatoes are getting a wee bit of that sauce and with your spoon just move
03:38it
03:38around just to make sure it's nice and even i'm going to add some cheese to the top this is
03:42greer
03:43cheese but use whatever cheese you prefer i'm using greer because i had greer there or i would have just
03:48used cheddar so it's completely up to you and it's up to you how much cheese you put on as
03:54well so once
03:55it's looking something like this it's time to put it into the oven you don't need to cover it or
03:59anything just put it directly into the middle of your oven on 180c or on a gas mark 4 or
04:075 i would
04:08say 5 actually a gas mark 5 180c for about half an hour and it will come out looking something
04:14like
04:15this and look at all bubbling away there let me tell you like i said this is absolutely delicious
04:20even just on its own and it keeps really well as well you can keep this in the fridge for
04:25a couple
04:26of days or even freeze it but i don't tend to like freezing potato type things but you could
04:31if you really wanted to so i'm just going to pop this into the bowl just to let you see
04:36like and the
04:36deeper you go into that dish the saucier it gets most of these potatoes are from the top so you're
04:42not
04:42getting to see the proper sauciness the proper saucy nature of these potatoes but let me tell you
04:48well worth i was just about to say there before i get cut off well worth giving a go if
