00:20And he was, you know, he had to almost hold out in order to be able to get that.
00:24But now he went from being pretty good, like top eight or nine, but now he's like 13th
00:31or 14th in average salary.

00:34But I guess running backs are a hot commodity again now.

00:40Yeah, that was surprising, right?
00:42And by the way, Cook led the NFL in rushing last year.
00:46So how long before he says, you know what, I'm holding out too, right?
00:51So he should be a little bit higher on the pecking order.
00:54But it is amazing.
00:56Yeah, listen, it was only a matter of time that the Barkley thing really kind of opened
00:59the door to other teams saying, all right, we got all this extra salary cap space.
01:04You know, the NFL, you're getting $10 to $20 million more every single year.
01:09You know, and some of these teams are, you know, kind of cut back a little bit on other
01:12positions.
01:13And, you know, the running back is, he's due, right?
01:16What are you going to do?
01:17So even now at $20 to $25 million compared to other positions, it really is not that
01:23much if you're, you know, the best ones as these guys are.
01:27So, but I figure we were talking about this, you know, on the podcast with Gibbs.
01:32It was a matter of time, you know, whoever gave in, you know, I don't think it was the
01:36Lions or even the Falcons that were saying, no, no, no, no, no.
01:40I think it was Bijan Robinson and Jameer Gibbs that were saying, all right, you know,
01:44whatever, you know, whoever signs first, the other guy's got to get a couple of dollars
01:49more just, just because of ego and everything else.
01:52And that's exactly what happened, you know, Robinson signs.
01:56And then a couple of days later, you know, yesterday, you know, Gibbs signs and he got
02:00just, just a couple of dollars more just to kind of throw it in your face.

02:04I won the battle.

02:06But yeah, they're making good money now.
02:08They are next up and be field goal kickers.
02:10I guess that'll be the next position, I guess, right?
02:15Because it's like, like now, all of a sudden, now these guys are taking up a significant

02:23And listen, if you're Bijan, if you're Jameer, I get Taylor.
02:28This is his second contract guaranteed contract, I believe, because I think he's older than both
02:32of them at, at 20, I think he's 27 years old.
02:37So this he's got, yeah, he's up there, but Jameer gives only 24 and listen, Bijan, both
02:44guys are well worth it, but you better be very confident in some of the other spots.
02:49Cause I think Montgomery not being in Detroit this year, you know, all of a sudden there's
02:54going to be coming a lot of wear and tear on a guy you're paying 23, $24 million a year

03:02And you and I both know defenses are going to be looking at what they did last year
03:06and be like, yeah, you're not going for 85 yards, man.
03:10Like that's just, that's not happening here, which means that's a lot more touches, a lot
03:16more wear and tear on him as well.

03:19And look at Saquon, you know, two years ago, he rushed for 2000 yards last year, barely got
03:23a thousand, believe it or not, you know, 1140, you know, just over a thousand yards,
03:28which, you know, with 17 games really isn't that much per game.
03:32So yeah, you know, these guys are going to come back to the pack a little bit, but you
03:36know, I guess you have to pay them, Joe, but I don't know.
03:39I, you know, I've said this about the owners, you know, like, like, uh, you know, the Gibbs,
03:43right?
03:43So there is Robinson getting $67 million, uh, for, for three years, right?
03:50I don't know why the lions just didn't say, all right, there's the market.
03:54You're as good as him.
03:55He's as good as you.
03:56We're going to give you 67 million.
03:58Instead, they got to give him like a half a million more and a half a million, almost
04:01almost a million more in, in incentives and a half a million more in, in guaranteed money.

04:12But instead they just ever so slowly give him more and more and more money.

04:27And then, you know what?
04:28We're going to franchise you next year.
04:29And the franchise for running back is not $25 million.
04:33It's probably around 15 million.
04:35So now you got it under control for two more years and hell I'll franchise you again the year
04:39after it's still not going to probably be 25 million.
04:42And by that time, you're going to be 27.
04:44I know the system sucks for certain players, but if I'm the owners, I'm the GM, what are
04:49you going to do?
04:50I'm going to give you $20 million.
04:52I'm not giving you 25.
04:53Too bad.
04:53I'll give you 15, 20 million.
04:56Go ahead and walk away from that.
