00:00We do have some news and notes that came out here today, namely Stefan Diggs was kind of teamless there
00:09for a little while.
00:10Not anymore. Looks like he has now signed a one year deal with the Washington Commanders who, you know, going
00:19over what they have and who they have on this team for Jaden Daniels.
00:23I was not thrilled with the wide receiving crew. If Jaden Daniels is going to have a bounce back year,
00:30I think Diggs is is a great signing by the Commanders to get that going.
00:36We know Debo's back in San Francisco. So there there's a lot of new faces with the Commanders on both
00:43sides of the ball heading into this season.
00:46Yeah, look, it can't hurt Joe. That's really the thing with the signing. Like it can't really hurt them.
00:51It feels kind of to me that if I had to guess that this is probably Stefan Diggs' last year
01:00in the NFL, like it kind of feels like it.
01:02It feels a little bit like DeAndre Hopkins of last year where, you know, there's nothing there's really nothing to
01:10lose if he's good.
01:11Great. But I mean, Joe, just look at Diggs' numbers the last two years and you'll see that he's more
01:17popular in name than he is really in terms of playing.
01:20It's just true. I mean, he really hasn't done much. He was not a factor at all last year.
01:25So it gives them a little bit of an extra weapon. But the other thing, too, is that Washington did
01:31draft a couple of receivers and they have young guys that they'd like to see.
01:34And what this does is this buys them time, Joe, for week four, week five.
01:39Diggs is a pro. You know, he's going to run the right routes and, you know, he's generally going to
01:43do the right thing.
01:44Generally, I said, so it's probably it's probably like a fair signing.
01:52And it's, you know, to me, I still it's a little surprising to me to see Debo Samuel's career crater
01:58as fast as it did.
01:59Like I like Debo was arguably best player in the NFL a couple of years ago and then fell pretty
02:06quick.
02:06So I think Debo offers a little bit more than Diggs does, but it wouldn't surprise me to see at
02:12the end of the season.
02:13And I don't know what his props are. Maybe the guys can find it. It's still too early, I think,
02:17probably to have those out.
02:18But I would guess Joe, his receiving numbers on the season, 500 something yards, four touchdowns, you know, somewhere somewhere.
02:29I think that's along the lines of what I would think getting, you know, 40, 50 yards a game and
02:34maybe a few touchdowns over the course of the season.
02:37But look, as Odell Beckham showed us, you can keep coming back until you tell until they tell you no.
02:42Right. Like I don't think Odell Beckham has anything left, but he keeps coming back and we keep making a
02:46big deal out of it.
02:47Why? Because once upon a time, the guy was a great receiver.
02:50And once upon a time, Stephon Diggs, top three, top four receiver in the NFL.
02:54So I would not make too much of this, but good that McLaurin now has at least somebody else that's
03:01somewhat reliable for the first half of the season.
03:03I would think some receiver that is young will step up for them in the second half of the season
03:08and Diggs would be more of a third option.
03:11They've got some options, you know, the young guys, but unproven.
03:15But it's nice that McLaurin, yeah, you got a one.
03:18Now you've got a legit number two, you know, option there behind him.
03:23This is all good because Jaden Daniels, it was not good last year at all.
03:28Let's not forget.
03:29I think we ended the year watching Marcus Mariota under center for the commanders.
03:34It was not good for Jaden Daniels last year.
03:37So, but new, we got new offensive coordinator, right?
03:41So Kingsbury gone, a lot of new faces.
03:45They spent some money on the offensive line.
03:47I don't think we're going to see Jaden Daniels in the shotgun as much as we did under Kingsbury's offense
03:55here.
03:55I do like the running game now.
03:58I think it's going to be very interesting.
04:00I think they're going to be really more of a ground and pound and give him an opportunity to, you
04:06know, not get hit every time he has to take a snap like he was last year.
04:11A lot of this is a big year.
04:13And Dan Quinn, hot seat, I would think he is one of the guys on the hot seat.
04:21They all are.
04:22Everybody's on the hot seat.
04:23I mean, the NFL, you have one bad year.
04:25You're on the hot seat.
04:26How many coaches got fired last year?
04:27Fifteen?
04:28You know, like you got 10 new ones this year.
04:31Yeah.
04:31You can't have a bad year in the NFL.
04:34Literally, everybody is on the hot seat.
04:36Like, like you would, you would probably say Mike McDonald is not on the hot seat.
04:42He won the Super Bowl, right?
04:44Seattle's guy.
04:45Yes.
04:45Okay.
04:46So if Seattle won seven games, he's probably fine because he won the Super Bowl the year before.
04:52But outside of all of the new coaches, if you just take the returning coaches, and that includes Mike Rabel,
04:57by the way, I think everybody is a bad season away from potentially losing their job.
05:03It's just that's the NFL is just crazy like that.
05:07I mean, it just really is.
