00:10the ocarina of time remake is on the way while we eagerly await it and have already made a video
00:15about what we hope to see we also can't help but look towards the possible future welcome to mojo
00:21plays and today we're looking at everything we want from a potential majora's mask remake
00:29but before we dive in we publish new content all week long so be sure to subscribe and ring the
00:34bell to get notified about our latest videos quality of life to keep
00:48majora's mask 3d has a bit of a mixed reception in the zelda community but there are some quality
00:53of life updates that should definitely be carried over to a potential remake updates to the bomber's
00:59notebook which keeps track of npc's schedules for various side quests are a must
01:10others like more forgiving save points and the song of double time letting you select the exact
01:15hour to move forward rather than half a day are also great what we don't want are giant eyeball
01:21weak spots on all the bosses or the sluggish swim speed of the zora when in the original you got
01:27to glide around like a super dolphin
01:39expanded npc schedules
01:48one of the most defining aspects of majora's mask are the interwoven schedules of its npcs
01:54link's actions affect where they'll be across the three-day loop and what they'll be doing
02:08however the more minor an npc is the more time they still end up sitting in one location it would
02:14be really interesting to see if nintendo could expand further on the behavior of termina's citizens
02:20perhaps to connect them to other plot lines in minor ways or to simply give them more scenes adding to
02:26the
02:26already strong characterization and world building this would also give them more to do and the extra
02:32bit of content would be a nice surprise for longtime fans
02:45a new clock town
02:56clock town is the central hub of termina and is one of the more charming ones the series has ever
03:01featured in part thanks to the aforementioned npcs still as a central hub it's a bit on the small
03:15side
03:17it's mostly a place made of businesses be they shops minigames or government offices
03:22a remake offers great potential to build on this environment to make it feel more like an actual
03:28town that people live in in particular north clock town is pretty empty while south clock town is almost
03:34entirely dedicated to the construction of the carnal of times tower regardless of where it's expanded
03:40on it would be great to see clock town made into a bigger community
03:52new masks
04:01new masks
04:02an obvious place for nintendo to add something new if they choose to do so is link's collection of masks
04:08it seems unlikely new transformation masks would be added as the three in the base game are tied to
04:14the nation's surrounding clock town but what we could see happening is including more minor masks
04:25this would be nice for a variety of reasons they could either give link some useful gameplay features
04:30like the bunny hood or stone mask or be used to earn different rewards either way having new masks to
04:37track down would be a good way to expand on the side quests of majora's mask which is one of
04:41its
04:42strongest points anyway
04:49new uses for older masks
04:57if we're not going to get new masks the next best thing would be for the older masks to get
05:02new uses
05:03as engaging as the mask system is there are still a fair amount of them that only end up getting
05:08used
05:08for one thing like earning a piece of heart or unlocking a different mask
05:19then they're immediately placed back in the inventory never to be removed until the finale
05:24when you trade it in to get the fierce deity mask nintendo could give them more uses in new side
05:30quests
05:30or give them minor but useful gameplay features that help link on his adventure either way it would be
05:36nice if they spent less time simply taking up space
05:44more dungeons
05:52despite being loaded with content there are only four main dungeons in majora's mask
05:58that's a pretty small number in comparison to most other classic zelda titles and so it's a clear
06:03choice for new content
06:10it doesn't seem likely that in a potential remake nintendo would add an area to feature a new one of
06:16the same size given how important it is that there are only four areas in the directions outside
06:21clock town however there are also several mini dungeons like the pirate fortress and ekana castle
06:28something like that just to beef up the story challenges might be easier to include without changing the
06:33base story too much
06:42a penultimate boss
06:55with the power of majora's mask at his fingertips the skull kid causes a lot of mayhem during and long
07:02before the game takes place if he can change link's form at will and force the moon to come crashing
07:07down
07:08you know he's got a lot of power but at the climax when the four giants stopped the moon from
07:13falling
07:13he's simply knocked out before being tossed aside by the sentient mask
07:26in terms of new content that wouldn't alter the story a boss fight against the skull kid is an easy
07:31ask
07:32not only would it add more spectacle surrounding the game's finale but we imagine skull kid's trickster
07:37tactics would make for a pretty fun fight
07:46a proper final dungeon
07:53if there's one place where it feels nintendo could include a more full-length dungeon it's the inside of
07:59the moon while each of the four children provide obstacle courses they're still fairly short in
08:04comparison and doing them required the player to collect every mask in the game
08:17we're not saying to take these away the fierce deity mask should be earned after collecting all the
08:22others but it would be nice if there was still a proper dungeon here perhaps before reaching the
08:27children something that acts as a true final challenge leading up to the final boss that
08:32matches the scale of climactic levels found in other zelda games
08:43a post game
08:57finally seeing the dawn of a new day at the end of the game is extremely satisfying with the npcs
09:03link helped receiving their happy endings but as always we want more
09:16it would be really cool if link got to stick around for a fourth day to see the celebration
09:21more importantly it would be fascinating to check back in on the outcomes of the side quests you either
09:26did or did not complete and it would be interesting to see how this post game varied depending on how
09:32much
09:32side content players completed that would scratch a nice story itch but it could also provide an
09:37opportunity to include any post game challenges or dungeons
09:50if you love games be sure to check out watchmojo's new game terrible influence just launched for purchase
09:56at terrible influence dot com terrible influence is a satirical board game about the dark side of
10:01fame from the writer of the most popular girls in school and us watchmojo boom i can make an apology
10:07video oh you so would click on the link in the description to check out the game and be the
10:11first to play
10:12terrible influence keep its spirit
10:22no matter what new features stories or mechanics we may want to see in a majora's mask remake the most
10:29vital detail to get right is its spirit
10:37it has a reputation for being the weirdest and darkest but also most heartfelt entry in the series one of
10:44the
10:44reasons it has resonated with more and more players over the years is because of its distinct emotionally
10:49mature tone some fans may worry that this might be lost in a remake whether because changes made don't
10:56mesh well with the original story or the updated visuals fail to match the somber tone the way the harsh
11:01angular polygons on the n64 did
11:15whether it be visually or tonally majora's mask is a rare existential tale in the series one whose
11:22distinct personality we hope isn't lost if nintendo chooses to revisit it
11:33would you be interested in a majora's mask remake what's something you would hope to see
