00:06ocarina of time is a near-perfect game but with an upcoming remake there are always opportunities
00:11to improve welcome to mojo plays and today we're looking at some of the things we hope
00:16to see fixed in the remake for the legend of zelda ocarina of time but before we dive in we
00:29publish new content all week long so be sure to subscribe and ring the bell to get notified about
00:33our latest videos upgraded saving we'll start with something small but which would be extremely
00:47noticeable when it comes to improving the game's quality of life in the original game as well as
00:52the 3ds version whenever you save and reopen your file you're forced back to one of two starting
00:58locations if you save and quit while playing as young link it's his house in kokiri forest
01:07if you were adult link when you last saved it's the temple of time in hyrule's castle town
01:12dungeons are the exception if you save inside of one you start at the entrance when you come back
01:17regardless you still work your way back to the room you were in in this day and age players want
01:23to start right back where they stopped instead of being forced to backtrack to where they were
01:27this seems like an easy upgrade to make and an easy win for the remake
01:38the empty field
01:46one of the most common requests when it comes to making changes in ocarina of time is the relatively
01:51empty hyrule field it's easy to see why in 1998 stepping out into this vast expanse with a whole
01:58world of discoveries waiting it was truly remarkable but as action adventure games grew bigger and more
02:04detailed including this series itself it stopped feeling impressive and groundbreaking a long time ago
02:19obviously most fans crave more to do here more side quests more treasure and resources more enemies
02:26more of anything really to fill that time between traveling from area to area if not that we'd also
02:32welcome a visual overhaul which certainly seems the most likely more features like plants paths and some
02:39wildlife would make it so that the whole field doesn't look so drab and would make it a place everyone
02:44likes to visit more on top of having to constantly travel across it for the sake of progression
02:55lengthen the cycle
03:05a day and night cycle was almost unheard of when ocarina of time was released as many players know
03:11time stands still while inside named locations like villages and dungeons but moves forward whenever link
03:17is traveling in between them such as in hyrule field however this day and night cycle passes very quickly
03:28daytime is around 2 minutes and 30 seconds while nighttime is around 1 minute and 20 seconds
03:34one of the other more common requests that we agree with is to slow this down give players more time
03:40to
03:40play within those time slots so that it isn't quite as rushed and the appreciation for what is different
03:45about them will grow plus if we need to change between day and night quickly that's what the sun song
03:51is for
03:59more uses for ice arrows
04:10the ice arrows are an entirely optional item in ocarina of time and therefore don't leave nearly as much of
04:17a mark on
04:17your experience as the others link can get them relatively late in game by completing the gerudo training grounds
04:23they can be used to freeze enemies although not all of them but because nothing is built around you
04:29needing to use them they're a cool but forgettable item to add to link's inventory that most of us probably
04:35don't even use nintendo already fixed the item by making it necessary in other games majora's mask made
04:42clever use of them for puzzles and traversal inside the great bay temple for example
04:51and in the wilds era ice arrows are much more practical since fire enemies are weak to them
05:04adding to this item's uses in ocarina of time might come with a lot of changes we're unsure nintendo would
05:09be willing to make especially if it could now be used to solve puzzles still more incentive for getting
05:15and using the ice arrows would be nice to see clearing things up
05:27it's usually tricky when a remake makes changes to the story since it risks making things weaker and
05:32alienating diehard fans while we don't think it's entirely necessary for nintendo to make changes to the base story
05:39in ocarina of time there are a few elements that could use some clarification namely the history of hyrule before
05:45the game
05:46takes place a lot of it is only hinted at or kept purposely vague which has brought over two decades
05:52worth of theories
05:53and think pieces putting it all together
06:02we'd love to get more information on the civil war that took place before the current king unified the land
06:08was this another fight over the triforce or something else
06:12how did the sheikah help and what acts led to the creation of the shadow temple a monument to hyrule's
06:18bloodshed
06:19did the gerudo play a part and did this lead into ganondorf's invasion
06:23and what about the goddess of the sands represented inside their spirit temple
06:27or the water spirits that the zora worship as seen in the water temple
06:30we don't need nintendo to change the plot but more details on any of the world's history would make players
06:36connect with it more
06:46the zora crisis
06:53one of the biggest and best changes ocarina of time 3d made was to the water temple
06:58often thought of as one of the original game's most frustrating sections this version made noticeable improvements
07:04different colored markings now led link to one of the three spots where he could change the temple's water level
07:10and each one had a graphic next to it so you knew how high or low the level was about
07:15to be
07:16another welcome change was making the iron boots an item rather than a piece of gear
07:20so we didn't have to keep pausing to equip or unequip them whenever we needed to float or sink
07:35it should go without saying that every improvement nintendo made to make the temple less monotonous
07:40we want them to keep but it isn't just the temple that needs a change
07:44it's the quest line
07:45although link brings peace to several nations across the game the zora stay frozen in ice until the credits roll
07:52if we have to go through the water temple again the least nintendo could do is let us thaw zora's
07:57domain
07:58so that we feel a little more victorious after
08:07tracking gold skulltulas
08:19collecting a lot of a single scarce resource or creature is a staple in the zelda series
08:24for ocarina of time there are 100 gold skulltulas that link can find
08:29kill and collect the token of to earn tiered rewards
08:33the biggest issue with ever trying to do this is that you have no way to track them
08:37and so you have no way of knowing where they appear unless you look up a guide
08:42or have a ton of patience to go digging into every area of the game
08:52while some are hidden in dungeons others are scattered throughout the overworld
08:56and often appear specifically during the day or night
08:59for anyone who wants to find all 100 but doesn't want to use a guide
09:03a way to track the gold skulltulas would be fantastic
09:06maybe we pay an npc some rupees to show how many are left in a given area on our map
09:12or maybe we unlock an item that hints when one is near like the korok mask from breath of the
09:17wild
09:17either way it would make this collect-a-thon much more manageable
09:21if you love games be sure to check out watchmojo's new game terrible influence
09:32just launched for purchase at terrible influence dot com
09:36terrible influence is a satirical board game about the dark side of fame
09:39from the writer of the most popular girls in school and us watchmojo
09:43boom
09:44i can make an apology video
09:45oh you so would
09:47click on the link in the description to check out the game
09:49and be the first to play terrible influence
09:53better rewards for gold skulltulas
10:03in addition to fixing how we can find the gold skulltulas the rewards for hunting them down also need some
10:09work
10:09as link collects the spider tokens he breaks a curse on each member of a family living in kakariko village
10:15the first few rewards are actually pretty good
10:18after 10 tokens link gets the adult wallet letting him carry up to 200 rupees
10:2320 tokens gets him the stone of agony or shard of agony on 3ds
10:27which notifies link when there's a hidden hole nearby
10:30for 30 tokens he gets the giant's wallet which lets him carry up to 500 rupees
10:40but then after 40 tokens you only get some bomb chews
10:44a minor item you can earn or buy elsewhere making it a big disappointment
10:48you do get a piece of heart after 50 which is nice
10:51but then you get nothing else until you've collected all 100
10:54that gets you 200 rupees every time you visit the family
10:58a huge sum that's basically worthless that late into the game
11:03while the bomb chews should get replaced
11:05we'd also like something between the 50th and 100th tokens
11:09as it stands that's a lot of work for nothing at all
11:13combining new better or more frequent rewards with a way to make finding them easier
11:18would make the gold sculptula quest much more enjoyable
11:27what's something you hope to see fixed or improved in the ocarina of time remake
