00:17Judicial Commissioner Marianne Antoinette Ghani fixed the date after hearing submissions on Wednesday.
00:23On June 10, the High Court ordered Rosma to pay the jeweller after finding her liable for the missing jewellery,
00:30which had been entrusted to her under a consignment arrangement.
00:34Rosma is seeking to suspend the payment pending her appeal.
00:38Her lawyer, Reza Rahim, argued that a stay was warranted because Global Royalty has no known assets or presence in
00:46Malaysia and is not covered under the Reciprocal Enforcement of Judgments Act, 1958,
00:52making it difficult to recover the money if the appeal succeeds.
00:56He also said Rosma has only about 100,000 ringgit in her remaining bank account,
01:02while her other assets are frozen under injunctions linked to the One Malaysia Development Berhad, One MDB civil suits.
01:10Global Royalty's lawyer, Venothani Rajagopal, opposed the application, saying there was no evidence the company was insolvent or without assets,
01:19and that its foreign status alone did not justify a stay.
01:24The jeweller sued Rosma in May 2023, alleging she falsely claimed that 44 pieces of jewellery sent to her on
01:32consignment had been seized by authorities.
01:35The company said police retained only one of the 44 items and alleged Rosma wrongly blamed the Malaysian government for
01:43the disappearance of the remaining jewellery.
01:45In his June 10 ruling, Justice K. Chu Soon held that the jewellery remained Global Royalty's property because Rosma never
01:54purchased it,
01:55making her responsible for accounting for the missing pieces while they were in her custody.
02:01Rosma maintains the jewellery was seized during a police raid at Pavilion Residences on May 17, 2018.
