00:01The High Court in Kuala Lumpur heard on Monday that a collection of 44 pieces of
00:06jewelries were sent to Dart Teen Sari Rosma Mansour in the hopes that they
00:10would be purchased or worn by the wife of the former Prime Minister for
00:14publicity. Rosma said the jewelries were sent for her consideration by Samar
00:19Halime, the managing director of global royalty trading, sometime in 2018. Global
00:25royalty is suing Rosma for the return of 43 out of the 44 pieces, or the
00:30compensation of 67.5 million ringgit. Rosma said the jewelries were delivered to
00:36her without her requesting for them, as the intention was for her to wear or use
00:41them for publicity amongst local and foreign dignitaries. She said she did not
00:46remember wearing them as it was the general elections in 2018, and she was
00:50busy helping her husband and former Prime Minister Datuk Sari Najib Razak in the
00:56election campaign. She said she only kept the jewelries so as to not offend Samar,
01:01who was introduced to her by the former second wife of the Sultan of Brunei. She
01:06said her family had to move out of the Prime Minister's official residence
01:10following Najib's defeat in the election, and the jewelries were moved to the
01:14pavilion residences, where police raided an apartment and seized the family
01:19valuables, including the jewelries during the one M.D.B. scandal. She denied the
01:24plaintiff's claims that she had failed, neglected, or omitted to return the
01:28jewelries. The jeweler claimed only one out of the 44 pieces was retained by the
01:33police, saying that Rosma shifted the blame onto the government when, in fact, the
01:38jewelry had gone missing.
