01:17G'day guys, good morning from Koh Samui.
01:21We have been here for about five days now, actually.
01:29We haven't been filming at all since we got here.
01:31We, on this road trip, were filming every single day.
01:35And I think we just needed a few days to catch up on, first of all, sleep.
01:41Like we started getting a little bit tired.
01:43Lila had a couple of not so good sleeps, which made it a bit hard.
01:46And we were filming like every single day for 10 days on this road trip.
01:52We checked into the Deva Beach Resort.
01:55I think that's how you say it.
01:56D-E-V-A.
01:57Which is on the northeast side of the island, near like Bow Put area.
02:01Um, I'm still trying to figure out all the different areas on Koh Samui.
02:06But yeah, we've been here five days.
02:08Uh, catching up on laundry.
02:11Driving around, just trying to get our bearings.
02:13Because when we came here two years ago, like this feels like a completely different island.
02:19Like I don't even recognize it at all.
02:21It's really busy, but it's actually got a really good vibe.
02:23Uh, so today I think we're ready to film again.
02:27We've caught up on uploading all of our content.
02:30We did laundry.
02:31Went and got a haircut.
02:34Drove around.
02:35Checked out a couple of different places.
02:36And so today we're going to go and check out one of the waterfalls.
02:41Which is like in the middle of the island.
02:42The most popular one.
02:44And uh, we'll take you guys along with us.
02:45But first we'll go and grab the breakfast buffet.
02:49Which is pretty awesome.
02:50The restaurant's right on the beach.
02:51We've been going there every morning.
02:53We get a free breakfast included with our stay.
02:56And to be honest, we've been like pretty much just hanging out at the resort for the last few days.
03:01We spent a couple of days just literally sitting by the pool ordering food from the restaurant.
03:05Just some nice actual downtime that feels like a bit of a holiday.
03:11Because we were going pretty hard for like 10 days.
03:14So it's been good.
03:15But we're ready to go and have an adventure.
03:18It is Sunday.
03:18And there is a big UFC fight on.
03:20Originally I was planning on finding a really good sports bar in town.
03:25And watching the UFC.
03:27But honestly I just couldn't justify going and sitting in a pub all day.
03:32When we're in this beautiful island.
03:33And we're only going to be here once.
03:35Uh, we were meant to be here for a week.
03:38I've already extended by a couple of days.
03:40I think we're going to extend another week.
03:41Because five days has just flown by.
03:44And I feel like there's so much to see in Koh Samui.
03:46Maybe next time we come we'll go and visit one of the islands or something like that.
03:50We were debating like Koh Tao or going down to Phuket.
03:53But I just want to explore Koh Samui.
03:56See everything there is to see here.
03:58So that we can tick it off our list.
04:00And then next trip maybe we'll go see somewhere else.
04:02But we're going to get some breakfast.
04:04Mandy's just bathing Lila.
04:06And then we'll head off to the waterfall.

04:23And it's already past 8.30.
04:25And we want to get there before it gets hot and busy.

05:37We've been driving around the island for like five days and we've only used half the tank.

05:55Yeah, great timing. Lila started teething probably like two days into this trip.
06:00It just meant she's been crying a bit more than usual, waking up a bit more than usual.

10:34all right we made it there's elephants here I had no idea we just were driving up the
10:41road to get to the waterfall and a massive elephant crossed our path but uh there's
10:46people riding it which i'm not the biggest fan of these elephants yeah they got like saddles on them
10:51we don't love it yeah i don't love it they look like they're kind of like caged up not something
10:57we will participate in yeah but the waterfall will still be nice i think the waterfall is going to
11:02be good it's much quieter over this side of the island we kind of are in the south west side

11:08suppose let's go check out this waterfall though
11:16kind of got some conflicting information regarding elephants and maybe if you've been following our
11:22channel for a while you might have seen our crabby video and we went to the Aoneng
11:27elephant sanctuary it was a really good experience but they gave us some conflicting information
11:33so they told us that there was only domesticated elephants in Thailand it's a human problem that we
11:42created these domesticated animals that are now reliant on us humans to feed them and they cost it costs a
11:50lot to feed them so they have to be put to work to pay for the cost to feed them
11:55was essentially what
11:56we were taught and then we were told that there is no wild elephants in um thailand but then when
12:05we
12:05were in hua hen we saw wild elephants i'm a bit confused maybe miscommunication maybe mistranslation
12:11i'm not sure just not sure how i feel about it i guess there's it's not entirely different than just
12:18like going and riding horses or but something feels different about it and just when they're in tiny little
12:23areas like that that doesn't feel good to me especially when there's all this vast space and
12:28then they're you know i don't know that's just how i don't know how i feel about it yet and
12:34i'm a bit
12:34confused with the conflicting information that we've received
12:40all right so this is namoang waterfall
12:52and then there's a farm here as well
12:57chawang beach been there been there mandy's doing yoga there yeah in a couple of days
13:04there's another waterfall close by and what is this
13:10some reason i thought we're gonna have to hike to get to this waterfall i can literally see it from
13:15here which is like the car park and you can hear it it's right there that's actually probably better
13:21with lila yeah
13:39so you can swim in it we brought our swimmers but i'm probably not running are you
13:45usually we're a bit better at getting places before the crowds arrive because we're already
13:50early risers um but it takes a bit longer leaving the house these days
14:08this would be such a fun place to spend the day though on like a really hot day the water

14:14actually really nice and clean and i'm actually a little bit tempted to swim to be honest
14:26just trying to find the best place to look at it it's not like a platform or anything

15:25it's funny how someone can just like stack rocks in the middle of like the forest and everyone just

16:26actually very nice fresh cold coconut there's a lot to eat chicken there that it was barbecuing
16:32looked really good there's a few stores and stuff around here you can sit down there's restaurants
16:37you can have lunch or breakfast or whatever uh but it's already starting to get busy and it's only
16:43been open for half an hour or something so if you're coming here i'd definitely come here early i
16:48i can see the car park's already half full yeah and we've been here for like 20 minutes

17:30it's kind of crazy though that they're just selling food people are feeding them because when we went to
17:34that sanctuary in krabi it was like a whole process of getting the elephant to trust you before you're
17:41allowed to even hand it food because like they can just swing their trunk and smash it
17:54kind of souls and so like
17:56i wish i could just rescue everything i don't know who knows what their situation is maybe
18:05they've been well looked after eh
18:11all right that was pretty cool hopefully you can hear me over the walking bird in the backseat
18:18we're gonna go get some breakfast now we drove past a pretty cool looking cafe across the road from
18:25the beach called toast so we'll check that out go get some brekkie before we head back to the hotel

18:41all right we had another slight change of plans because lila fell asleep so we wanted to keep driving
18:48so we've headed back to the area we're staying to a cafe called kob on the beach
18:57um we're gonna get some breakfast there we've been there a few times and it's actually awesome
19:01we've got a really good view good food reasonable prices good service so we'll go get some breakfast
19:08now now
19:23cafe's full sunday so we gotta wait for a table um i'm not really used to that usually in fine
19:32there's
19:33no people in anywhere no kosovo is really really busy that's actually like it but um there is a little
19:42bit of traffic but yeah we're used to quiet him just being quiet all the time

19:58i love the bear updates that we get he's having the best time i love that when we go
20:03to like on holiday he's also on his own like dog version
20:18well that was an awesome breakfast we're gonna head back to the hotel and i'll do a quick tour
20:23because um the hotel's been surprisingly good i wasn't too sure what it was gonna be like it looks
20:31a little bit outdated but it's actually yeah a pretty nice hotel it's in the bangrak area and as far
20:37as ko samui goes in general uh it is so different to when we came here in 2021 which is
20:46probably
20:47obviously because it was right after code well it was during covert and there was no one around but it
20:53just feels like a completely different place i actually wish we came here a little bit earlier
20:58because it's got this like barley island vibe to it heaps of young people
21:06like a lot going on beach clubs i went to jiu-jitsu already which was awesome i had a massive
21:12gym and
21:13mandy's going to yoga i think there's like 10 or 20 different so many yoga studios yeah i already said
21:21in the beginning of the video we're gonna stay for an extra week i think because we're loving it here
21:26it feels like barley but with better roads it's just not too chaotic it's still pretty busy there
21:34is a little bit of traffic you can actually get away with like driving a car around here like i
21:39don't
21:39think you really can in bali anymore parking is challenging during the middle of the day like right
21:46now but if you were to like in the afternoon or in the early mornings i think like it's pretty
21:52chill yeah
21:53honestly kind of kicking ourselves that we didn't come here earlier like last year but obviously
21:59manu was pregnant and we weren't really doing much i think we'll come back it's totally different to
22:04what we expected nothing like what we remembered from two years ago accommodation is a little bit on
22:11the expensive side but that's probably also because we booked it last minute anyway we're just pulling up
22:18to the hotel i'll give you a quick tour because it is pretty good and i'll leave the link down

22:29all right just got back to the resort lila's having a nap so i'll give you a tour of the
22:34actual resort
22:35first and then i will show you our room which is the pool villa pool villa cost about seven and
22:44a
22:44half thousand thai baht for per night i think you can get it cheaper if you book in advance
22:50but it's honestly not that bad a value it's actually a pretty good room like it's got a private pool
22:56uh a jacuzzi big room really quiet and you're about 50 meters max to the restaurant the main pool
23:06and the beach area which has been really good like we just wake up in the morning go get breakfast
23:11go for a little walk on the beach we've been chilling out in the afternoons at the beach having a
23:17beer
23:18eating dinner there like you really don't have to like move at all which is perfect when you have a
23:24baby because you don't want to be far from your room anyway i'll show you guys the gym here which
23:31is a pretty basic gym you got like some weights one treadmill which didn't work for me i guess i'm
23:50too heavy i need to lose a couple kgs a couple bikes some machines i've been in here every morning
23:58and i'm
23:59the only one here at like six or seven o'clock which is pretty good but yeah it's pretty basic

24:07there's also water here which is a good hack if you're staying in a hotel and it's like late at
24:12night and you run out of water come to the gym because you can always get water at the hotel
24:19gym
24:23that's a tattoo shop and cannabis store which is connected to the resort which
24:29if you haven't told me that even three years ago that we'd be in thailand and there'd be a cannabis
24:36shop connected to a resort i would have thought you're insane but they're everywhere in thailand
24:42now and apparently they're going to be cracking down on it but we'll see what happens so here's the
24:47regular rooms there's a couple of buildings and they're just like the standard rooms um they come
25:05and come and they're not alone so here's the square buildings one of these short rooms.
25:05We're quite a bit cheaper we actually extended in i think it was a deluxe room so it still has
25:12a balcony
25:12and jacuzzi and that was only four thousand baht per night, including breakfast and that was last minute
25:20So I'm guessing you can get that even cheaper. I had a look and it's pretty good too.
25:27Small rooms down this way in this building and
25:32a second pool as well.
25:35So there's two buildings, two pools and
25:39then the pool villas here, which is where we're staying. So there's our room there.
25:44And then if we walk down here like
25:50Honestly, probably less than 50 meters, 30, 40 meters.
25:54We'll get to the restaurant, the bar and the beach and the main pool.
26:00Which is bloody awesome in the afternoon. Like we've been there every single day so far.
26:23So as you can see, pretty primo spot. You got this boat pier here with like
26:29luxury yachts.
26:30There's the Buddha statue right there, which is where Mandy's going to be doing yoga.
26:35And the pool, there's kayaks, you can get massages here.
26:40Beach is actually super nice too, even though it's really small.
26:42And then there's this path here.
26:47Which Mandy and I have been just going for walks on in the morning.
26:52I really recommend this resort.
26:53It's like probably three and a half to four star, probably four star.
26:58But it's like not super luxurious, but very nice.
27:02And the staff are amazing.
27:04The food's been pretty good so far.
27:05The breakfast, I don't know if you're really into like buffet breakfast,
27:10you might not think it's the best, but I just eat protein.
27:14Like I get an omelet and some rice and a little bit of chicken or something.
27:19And I'm happy and a coffee and that's all I need.
27:22I think it's pretty good.
27:24And I think for the price, it's like mid range for Koh Samui.
27:29So I definitely recommend it.
27:31We'll probably stay here again.
27:33We have family coming over in a couple of months.
27:37And we've been thinking about different places to go for a little holiday.
27:43I think this is going to be it.
27:44We're going to come back to Koh Samui.
27:46And we might stay here again because it's pretty affordable.

28:20In case you're wondering why I didn't film more of the pool area,
28:23it's because there's like 30 people there.
28:25And I don't think they signed up to be filmed while they're sunbathing on their holiday.
28:31Let's go see if I can film the room.
28:38Okay, looks like they're up.
28:41So I'll show you the room.
28:42Firstly, we've got a private pool here.
28:46It only gets sun for like a few hours a day.
28:49So we've been using the main pool.
28:51Probably not really worth having your own pool because there's no sun.
28:55But it's still cool.
28:56A couple of sunbeds.
29:00And then really big room.

29:16And a desk.
29:17I've actually been holding my meetings there.
29:19One complaint is the Wi-Fi is pretty slow.

29:25And I had to hold a weekly Q&A school meeting tethering from my phone.

29:33But huge bed.
29:35Has a mosquito net, but we haven't needed to use it.
29:38It's a little bit messy.
29:40We've got stuff all over here.

29:43Has Netflix and YouTube and everything, which is good.

30:17She's been loving it.
30:18It's been great having a jacuzzi.
30:20I want one of these at home.
30:25And shower.
30:27But yeah, that's the whole room.
