00:00A California teenager is being hailed a hero and may soon be making a trip to the White House to
00:04honor his heroics. The family of 16-year-old Ryder Williams says they've been contacted by
00:09President Trump's staff after the president announced that he wants to personally honor
00:13the rookie lifeguard for his incredible act of heroism last month. Ryder made national headlines
00:19after diving into pounding surf to save a 10-year-old boy who had been dragged into the
00:22ocean by a powerful sneaker wave at Seabright Beach in Santa Cruz. The teen reached the boy
00:27after he lost consciousness in the water and with the help of another lifeguard brought him safely
00:32back to shore where he was revived. The boy is expected to make a full recovery. Now President
00:38Trump says that he plans to present Ryder with a high civilian honor. Now there isn't a date set
00:43for the journey to our nation's capital so for now the family says they're just trying to get
00:47back to normal with Ryder getting ready to start high school this week.
