NASA's Juno spacecraft just mapped a real mountain on one of the most violent worlds in our solar system. โ›ฐ๏ธ๐ŸŒ‹
Built from real spacecraft data, this animation shows a peak on Jupiter's moon Io โ€” nicknamed "Steeple Mountain" by the mission team. Io is home to hundreds of active volcanoes, making this one of the most extreme places any spacecraft has ever mapped in this kind of detail.

Key facts:
โ€ข Mapped using real Juno/JunoCam data, Dec 2023โ€“Feb 2024 flybys
โ€ข Located on Io, the most volcanic body in the solar system
โ€ข Nicknamed "Steeple Mountain" by NASA's mission team
