00:40Today's efforts are part of a three-year NRM South project to bolster the health of the nationally significant Pittwater
00:48-Orielton Lagoon.
00:50The waterways that feed into the lagoon are very important.
00:52What happens upstream impacts what happens downstream in the lagoon as well.
00:57Once that project's over, responsibility will fall to the locals.
01:02Our job from Landcare's perspective is to make sure we've got a vibrant, thriving community
01:07and they're the ones that will be looking after this for long term.
01:10These seedlings might only be about knee-high today, but in a few years they'll shade the water,
01:15hold these banks together and help keep the rivulet healthy long after today's volunteers have gone home.
01:22It's a no-brainer really, isn't it?
01:23It's like, it's part of your ecosystem and you've got to have lots of different things to keep the planet
01:30ticking over.
