Rinno-ji is the most important temple in Nikko.
Last November, I visited Rinno-ji and toured the Sanbutsu-do (Hall of the Three Buddhas), the largest wooden structure in eastern Japan; the Daigoma-do (Great Goma Hall), where the daily Goma-burning ritual is performed; the Taiyu-in, the mausoleum of Shogun Iemitsu; and the Treasure Hall, located across from the Sanbutsu-do.
Next to the Treasure Hall is a Japanese garden called Shoyo-en.
