Nanzen-ji is an important temple of the Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism, located in eastern Kyoto and surrounded by the greenery at the foot of the Higashiyama Mountains.
In the temple’s Hojo (the former residence of the head priest), visitors can stroll along the corridors while admiring several Zen gardens.
