00:01Yorkshire Water has started work on two major projects in West Leeds, which are aiming to
00:06improve water quality in Pudsey Beck and reduce the number of storm overflow discharges during
00:12periods of heavy rainfall. The schemes at Kent Road in Pudsey and Dale Farm in Cockersdale form
00:18part of six projects being delivered across West Yorkshire and Bradford to improve the health of
00:24the Beck and waterways. By increasing the amount of wastewater that can be stored in the network
00:29during heavy rainfall, the projects should help to reduce the need for storm overflows to operate,
00:35keeping more water in the system until it can be treated.
00:39Both schemes are expected to be completed over the coming months.
